LOL a new era run by a 27 year old whose only boxing experience is some prizefighter style crap no one watched. Why did he get this gig? I am very suspicious- I bet he's got a relative or someone close working at Sky.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑01 Sep 2021, 08:17

Obviously the current line up isn’t great but for any Olympian turning pro knowing there’s a 4 year deal with Sky & huge promotion on sky sports news they’ve got to be your first choice as long as they’re anywhere near on purses.
Yafai, Whittaker, Clarke, McCormack etc can turn pro & be the 3rd biggest star on the platform behind Taylor & Eubank.
I’d imagine they’ll be snapping up plenty of other Hearn fighters as their contracts run out as well.

Once again these shows are about names not competitive fights which fans want.
How many genuine competitive fights on the 2 cards, just Ward - Lawal ?
Same old story, meet the new boss same as the old boss

He’s the young figurehead who’ll be behind the camera. John Wischusen is the brains behind the operation who used to be at Matchroom. Plus they’ve still got the majority of the Sky team. They’ve only really lost Bellew haven’t they? They’ll be fine.JamesPhilips wrote: ↑01 Sep 2021, 08:37LOL a new era run by a 27 year old whose only boxing experience is some prizefighter style crap no one watched. Why did he get this gig? Like it or not he’s a big name & a heavyweight.
I’d imagine he gets good viewing figures too.
Matthew Hatton’s fights on Sky used to do really good numbers compared to far more exciting fighters.

Can you think of a single boxing fan signing up to Sky just for the boxing?a force wrote: ↑01 Sep 2021, 08:42He’s the young figurehead who’ll be behind the camera. No but most of my mates aren’t really proper boxing fans. They’re more casuals who tune in just because they’ve got Sky due to the football.JamesPhilips wrote: ↑01 Sep 2021, 08:45Can you think of a single boxing fan signing up to Sky just for the boxing?a force wrote: ↑01 Sep 2021, 08:42He’s the young figurehead who’ll be behind the camera. In the group chat a few of them will mention the boxing on Sky or even Channel 5 when it’s on but none of them have mentioned the Dazn cards & none mention the BT ones either.
We’ve been & watched Warrington fight before & not one of them have mentioned him fighting this Saturday. I don’t think they even know it’s happening.
I think Sky promotion is massive for a fighter.

Hughie Fury’s photo for Sky looks like it’s from a hostage video.
‘We are fighting people and are not being mistreated.’
And then holds up today’s newspaper with a sad face.

Hughie and Eubank, what would wins here tell us?
Everybody has to start somewhere so hopefully Sky can gain some momentum, pick up some better boxers but just now its a bit meh

Hughie or Hatton?high tower 1 wrote: ↑01 Sep 2021, 08:55Big numbers ?? Are you sure
I don’t know what figures Hughie does but he’s got the family name, he’s been on big PPV cards & he’s a heavyweight. Plenty will watch him.
Matthew Hatton used to yes. Him v Kell held the normal Sky Sports record viewing figures for a spell until Froch fought Bute.
His fights for the European title against foreign opponents also did well in comparison to other standard Sky sports cards.

We have to hope Frank and Eddie up their game on the back of this.
They've been serving up shite for a long time and it's been worse recently. They won't do it for us obviously, but the potential for Sky to take their fighters is obvious.

I get it but we’re in a transitional period where streaming is going to blow up big. Semi-Niche sports are going to move to streaming services. Boxing, bareknuckle, MMA. Maybe the big fights will stay on big channels like BT, Sky etc but eventually they may go to streaming.a force wrote: ↑01 Sep 2021, 08:54No but most of my mates aren’t really proper boxing fans. A lot will be PPV. Fite TV and DAZN etc are the future of boxing broadcasting. In many ways it will better - far more fights will be shown and we can pick and chose what we want to watch. So if we want to watch Charr Lovejoy we can

I think Dubois is the best of the women, she is still young, her weight class was by far the strongest and she did really well beating good fighters untill she was edged out.peter barlow wrote: ↑01 Sep 2021, 08:26I would have thought she'd stay amateur and try medal in Paris?maverick23 wrote: ↑01 Sep 2021, 07:59For her age she’s terrific. It ease only 28 months ago when Bunce was saying she could be the best women’s boxer ever. Well OTT but I don’t she lost a fight as a junior. Lost a couple though (at a high level) in the seniors.peter barlow wrote: ↑01 Sep 2021, 07:36
Does Frank have women fighters?
She didn't get a medal in the Olympics either, is it only because of Daniel that she has a bit of a name?
Re: Sky Sports announces new boxing schedule with Top Rank and BOXXER
Sky's still got the cross promotion with the other channels to make fighters into big names unlike DAZN who will be buried away.
Trouble is with all promoters now having their own TV deals then cross promotional fights will be avoided

Shame that..
DAZN were supposed to sign a deal with a free-to-air channel to help promote..

It will be built at PPV most likely
Joshua Usyk and likely all Joshua fights
Khan Vs Brook
Josh Taylor after Catterall
Eubank Jr Vs GGG

I do believe guys like Eubank and Taylor on PPV should be capped at £16.95 though.
Unless it's a massive fight.

I won't pay for any PPV anymore on principle just not worth it and the undercards are shit. I don't like giving Sky anymore money than necessary.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑01 Sep 2021, 11:59AJ is at £24.95 now.peter barlow wrote: ↑01 Sep 2021, 11:51 It will be built at PPV most likely

I'll sort them through other means.
