Why women's boxing sucks - Recent world champion lost to a youtuber in an MMA fight.
Ewa Brodnicka, (20-1, 2 KO), 2018-2020 WBO Featherweight Champion and ex EBU champion just lost to a youtuber on some freak fights event. What a shame for boxing, please, women's boxing shouldn't be treated seriously if a world champion couldn't take advantage of her skills vs youtuber, even if it was an mma fight.

She trained wrestling in her youth, but cmon, Brodnicka was a world champion just 1 year ago, though admittedly she is total pillow puncher and she never was a good boxer, she fought mostly midgets from weights below her, throws like 3 punches per round and hugs only.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑01 Sep 2021, 12:22 maybe she's surprisingly beastly though, seems to be able to take them down

never underestimate a wrestler vs someone with no grappling training. they basically just have to get them in a hug

But, can we call someone who trained wrestling in youth a wrestler?margaret thatcher wrote: ↑01 Sep 2021, 12:28 never underestimate a wrestler vs someone with no grappling training. they basically just have to get them in a hug
Maybe yes, apparently, we can't call a female WBO world champion a boxer.

that's still a valuable background in grappling when facing someone with no grappling experience. all a wrestler has to do is survive on the feet to get close enough for a takedown, then the boxers skills go to waste pretty much.
granted i do think womens boxing is pretty poopy too, but wrestling experience goes a long way vs someone whose never grappled, whether man or woman

Boxing skills are common training for mma fighters. But very few boxers are skilled in wrestling and ground fighting. But OP is right, women boxing suck big time

That is why she got any attention. Klitschko vs Povetkin is super entertaining compared to her fights.

Erm... I would venture to say that 99 out of 100 a preliminary grappler is going to beat even a world class striker... Complete apples and oranges comparison and in no way shaper form diminishes the case for women's boxing.

What has her highest purse been? 10k maybe? Being on the receiving end of such a purse kinda means that she was never a world champion. The financial threshold for that is a bit higher. I really don't care what trinket belt she had or who she fought in what sport. She was never a boxing world champion or relevant in any way.

It's utter rubbish like women's football and the woke broadcasters and promoters are trying to con/pressure the public into liking it. Take the BBC now playing the "we want to be more inclusive and will be actively showing more women's sports" card when in reality what they mean is :"We are trying to con you the public into liking it because we can't afford the top level sports after paying the likes of Lineker and several others more than the PM, with your money, if you complain we can label you as prejudice as our get out of jail card"

I'm not sure, but my guess is that she got more than that in 5 fights (vs Piątkowska - big ppv event in Poland, vs Pucek - another big ppv here, vs Perez & Matthysse - she's been main event there and vs Mayer in USA). However, I'm pretty sure that her career high purse was that from this freak fight.H8Usernames wrote: ↑02 Sep 2021, 09:59 What has her highest purse been? 10k maybe? There’s nothing wrong with women’s boxing.
The quality isn’t there yet but it’s a young sport, it’s improving quickly and also growing in popularity.

Go woke, go broke, as they say.
Except in this case the BBC are funded by licence payers money and should not be pushing any political agenda.
To think they once used to regularly show championship fights.
Tyson v Bruno 1 was such a mega event with the likes of top broadcasters such as Des Lynam and Harry Carpenter all on board.

The utterly rancid BBC rarely even mention the existence of the sport of boxing, regardless of gender.Thomastearns wrote: ↑02 Sep 2021, 19:12IRONFIST wrote: ↑02 Sep 2021, 10:30 It's utter rubbish like women's football and the woke broadcasters and promoters are trying to con/pressure the public into liking it. Female boxing isn’t a woke sport.
No one is trying to force you to appreciate it.
In fact, female boxing is something you have to search for, it’s not being forced upon the general public to endorse the political woke agenda of extreme leftists activists.
Female boxing is a relatively new insignificant niche sport.
You either want to watch it and appreciate it for what it is, or you don’t.
It’s as simple as that.
