In the battle between two Panamanian greats, Laguna would take the early lead against Duran by out-boxing him on the outside behind his jabs and combinations. However, in the middle rounds Duran would start to counter Laguna's punches and wearing him down with body punches through the final rounds of the fight to either take a decision or putting him away by a late round stoppage.
