The Hrgovic fight earlier on DAZN was an embarrassment, opponent so far outmatchedrd350lc wrote: ↑10 Sep 2021, 18:56And that's why I cancelled DAZN after last week's offering .milpool wrote: ↑10 Sep 2021, 18:51 I’m so glad this was on terrestrial TV so everyone could see that boxing is still a fantastic sport when it’s done right.
Whatever they were both getting, it wasn’t enough. That was a terrific fight and why we all love the sport.
I hope other promoters see that and begin to realise that all we want is great fights, it’s not too much to ask.
Finally, I enjoyed the commentary. They called the fight, there was no talking bollocks and they obviously loved what they were watching too.
Great stuff!

Great, great fight! Every round was immense.
After a few months of wondering why I bother, this literally reminded me of why I love the sport.
The coverage (I only watched on channel 5 from 10pm as I couldn't get the earlier fights on the Sun website) has been really good also. Barry is quality on the commentary, leagues ahead of the likes of Paul Smith etc. on Sky.
Fantastic.

I want Egg to secure his future. I get so much entertainment from him.
Re: Sam Eggington vs. Bilel Jkitou - 10 September 2021
Tonight I’ve watched Dalton Smith and Hrgovic in absolute mismatches on a streaming service funded by a billionaire followed by an absolute war on a free to air channel by a promoter pretty much on his knees. It really isn’t hard to put on competitive fights.peter barlow wrote: ↑10 Sep 2021, 18:58Yep, the talent spotting and matchmaking is very good which gives him a bit of an edge

Exactly it's so simple but it's so rare now to get. a quality fight like thisstujones wrote: ↑10 Sep 2021, 18:56 Yes, cracking fight, cracking atmosphere and great commentary....all promoters should be reading this thread for the Universal praise of the fight and the production....Forget your triller joke fights and the "flashy flash" of dazn coverage....that's what boxing fans want....simple with knowledgable and enthusiastic punditry.

Bunce wants Eggington to shed a few pounds and campaign at Light Middle
He deserves some big fights and paydays.

On a different note and I didnt think I would say this but I enjoyed the radio commentary of Warrington vs Lara....very different to the Costello days but really good.....more like a tv fight
Re: Sam Eggington vs. Bilel Jkitou - 10 September 2021
I'd rather him defend this belt till he gets a possible mandatory slot....let's be honest hes not winning a world title, so would rather him earn a bit then get a nice payday.peter barlow wrote: ↑10 Sep 2021, 19:06 Bunce wants Eggington to shed a few pounds and campaign at Light Middle

A fantastic fight. As Sam himself said he could have made it easier.....but he loves a war. So do the fans. Bet his corner had kittens.

Re: Sam Eggington vs. Bilel Jkitou - 10 September 2021
why does everyone always assume he could do it easier? since when does he have many boxing skills in him? seems pretty crude and always easy to hit to me, but he's very strong and has an excellent engine and takes a good shot......his nickname is fitting
i bet if he tried to 'box' hed do worse. he fights to his strengths which is to make it a rough affair. i dont think he's some altruistic fan lover who slugs it out just to give us a show

Only his trainers and Sam could possibly know that. He's so fluid with his punching output and upper body movement maybe adjusting his feet so he not fighting off the ropes and in the corners is beyond his skillset. I dont know? Doesn't matter he is an entertaining quality fighter that delivers.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑10 Sep 2021, 19:14 why does everyone assume he could do it easier? since when does he have many boxing skills in him? seems pretty crude and always easy to hit to me, but he's very strong and has an excellent engine and takes a good shot......his nickname is fitting

Very enjoyable fight, both men went to the well time and again, proper tear up. Jkitou acquitted himself impressively, tough operator. Eggington can't help but be drawn into a war but he does provide entertainment! Well done to the pair of them

Great fight. Jkitou could surely move the head an upper body air more. He was far too one dimensional.

He fought a strange fight. When he let his hands go he looked quite heavy handed but chose to stalk without throwing much. Work rate was piss poor and he still looked fresh at the end.high tower 1 wrote: ↑10 Sep 2021, 20:16 Great fight. Jkitou could surely move the head an upper body air more. Re: Sam Eggington vs. Bilel Jkitou - 10 September 2021
I agree with Peter fury on Twitter Sam boxed the perfect fight if he boxed long and on the back foot then jikitou would of steam rolled him, Egg had to hold his feet at the start to break jkitou heart! then box which he did, he was very good on the ropes with good head movement, this is what boxing is all about! The best fight in years well done lads and Egg is the new gatti!!!

Re: Sam Eggington vs. Bilel Jkitou - 10 September 2021
My god that was tremendous, even by Eggington's standards that was an all out war, maybe his best yet which is saying something, I feel pretty guilty but I had him winning a wide 118-110, I loved some of Jkitou's work, maybe even landed the better shots but in a toe to toe war he just couldn't hang with Eggington's frantic pace, for the majority of rounds I had Eggington outhrowing and outlanding him, I wanted to give Jkitou more rounds but I just preferred Eggington's work more often than not
The punches thrown and landed from both men was phenomenal, just brutal to watch, that would take years of most men's careers, it was all clean, ref never got involved, mostly fought on inside and neither looked to clinch, I'm not surprised there were cards closer than mine, Jkitou has a lot to like, it's just that you need to be inhuman to hang with Eggington in a war, at least on my card, outstanding from both men

Jkitou definitely the winner in the sartorial stakes. The comparison between eggington in his council estate gray trackies v jjitous snappy suit was stark.

Did anyone else get a strange feeling of satisfaction after watching this, a little feeling that boxing is still brilliant?
