Re: Gill turns down World title fight v Galahad
I'd love to know the terms offered for voluntary cracks at a world title. Pay, rematch clauses, and options. These things tend to never see the light of day.
When a fight wins a significant fight on the show of a promoter he's not with (I know Jordan is with Matchroom), you tend to then see the announcement soon afterwards that they've "signed" with that promoter. Most recently with Maxi Hughes, after his win in Leeds last week. Would love to know the detail; he wasn't with Hearn prior to that win, and if he'd lost, Hearn presumably wouldn't want him. Wonder if Maxi woke up the next day and there was an offer heading his way, that he could accept or decline, or was it already in the small print of that fight's agreement, ie, if you win the fight on my show, you are one of mine. And it is just announced to the media as if he has signed after breakfast with Eddie and it coming up casually. I wonder about that when I see those announcements.
Not saying it is sinister, I'm sure Maxi will get some great opportunities now and that is what it is all about. From Eddie's point of view, he has given him a big platform to show what he can do on.
Back to the actual topic - I wonder what the overall package / offer looked like to Gill and Coldwell - ie, should you happen to beat Galahad, you give him a rematch, for X amount, and so on. Didn't realise Jordan had been a pro for so long - 9 years. Hope he doesn't end up kicking himself over this decision.

I guess Gill will be waiting for a world title shot against someone who is not in the top 50, as well as avoiding British title fights too.
Re: Gill turns down World title fight v Galahad
Jees ! Underwhelming choice for a world title defence.
Kid drug-cheat failed in his first attempt at a world title, then got a British level gimme for a vacant title and then considered an even lower level for a defence. Must be one of the most synthetic champions around...and that's saying something !

I guess the reality is, because Galahad can't sell a ticket, they are offering a shot at bottom dollar to folk who wouldn't normally get a shot.THEBUTCH wrote: ↑14 Sep 2021, 18:32 Jees ! Underwhelming choice for a world title defence.

Didn't Warrington literally vacate his title to avoid Galahad? And probably won't fight him now either even though he has the belt.THEBUTCH wrote: ↑14 Sep 2021, 18:32 Jees ! Underwhelming choice for a world title defence.

Galahad is 2 in Ring rankings from today and 3 in TBRB. He's a pretty solid top 2-3 with Lara and Navarette.
Russell Jr and Santa Cruz aren't active in the division and it ain't that deep

Probably true. It's slim pickings on the IBF rankingsCoco wrote: ↑14 Sep 2021, 19:03I guess the reality is, because Galahad can't sell a ticket, they are offering a shot at bottom dollar to folk who wouldn't normally get a shot.THEBUTCH wrote: ↑14 Sep 2021, 18:32 Jees ! And if they give it to a Brit, maybe they will sell a ticket. Perhaps one of the Walsh brothers or Michael Gomez Jnr on a ticket deal.peter barlow wrote: ↑14 Sep 2021, 19:11Probably true. What was Lowe’s last meaningful fight?peter barlow wrote: ↑14 Sep 2021, 15:45 Why would Isaac Lowe turn it down? For Gavin McDonnell?
There isn't much on the IBF list for Galahad to fight unless they offer it to Lara.
I reckon Hearn be better take Galahad to US and try the unifications as soon as possible.
That draw he had against Walsh was it? 2018? On the Groves-Eubank card. Since then he’s been fighting nobodies on his mate Fury’s PPV cards in the US.
Re: Gill turns down World title fight v Galahad
Wood should vacate british and lowe and Gill should fight that. Neither proven above that level.

Might be making $10k a fight, I remember that was his purse on the Fury-Wilder undercard..
But he's not progressing AT ALL.

I doubt that Warrington will be offered a shot as he's not ranked in the IBF top 15.peter barlow wrote: ↑14 Sep 2021, 15:47Who would you put Galahad in with next? Doubt Warrington would take it either

Who wants to fight galahad. Boring fighter who is v hard to beat. Brings no attention to the fights. Best off waiting for a fight with Warrington , conlan or wood if at that level.
Re: Gill turns down World title fight v Galahad
Surely lowe would have to be a huge favourite if he fought Gill, he's about British title level , Gill is just fuckin terrible

Galahad's last 2 performances have been scintillating - the opposite of boring.high tower 1 wrote: ↑15 Sep 2021, 07:54 Who wants to fight galahad. Boring fighter who is v hard to beat. Brings no attention to the fights. Best off waiting for a fight with Warrington , conlan or wood if at that level.
Re: Gill turns down World title fight v Galahad
I don't think he will defend it. If they believe his a world champion he won't drop back down. But that wood be a good fight again tho. Lowe and Gill should deffo meet one way or another imo

Kid drug-cheat's performances "scintillating"
I would actually stop watching boxing if this type of fighting was considered "scintillating"![[icon_shame.gif] :shame:](./images/smilies/icon_shame.gif)
