Hafthor Bjornsson vs Eddie Hall Venue & PPV Price!

Post by Enlightened-One »

"Hafthor Bjornsson vs Eddie Hall to take place at UFC pandemic venue as date and PPV price are also confirmed for The Mountain’s battle with The Beast"

Hafthor Bjornsson and Eddie Hall are all set to meet in a boxing match at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida on September 18.

The Icelandic giant, also known for playing Gregor ‘The Mountain’ Clegane in Game of Thrones, will fight the Brit in a battle of strongmen.

In 2017, Hall was crowned the World’s Strongest Man.

Bjornsson followed this up by winning that very same title in 2018, beginning their rivalry.

Last year, Bjornsson broke Hall’s deadlift world record of 500 kg (1,100lbs) by deadlifting 501 kg (1,105lbs).

MTK Global will serve as the official boxing advisors for the event.

They have now confirmed that the venue is the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida.

The arena will be familiar to fight fans who watched the return of the UFC during the pandemic in May 2020.

UFC 249 – Tony Ferguson vs Justin Gaethje – was the first event back and took place in the empty arena.

Ticket sales are set to be announced shortly.

The PPV for the fight will be broadcast via online platform CoreSports.World.

Early pricing has been announced for fans who order in advance at $9.99 (£7.99)

It has not been specified if/when this will increase in the coming months as the build-up intensifies.

When the event was first confirmed without an official date last year, Hall said: “I’m training for this fight like I trained to be the strongest man in the world, no stone unturned and anyone in my way is getting milled down.

“With the experience MTK Global [the official boxing advisers to organisers Core Sports] brings to the table, this event will be even better than it was going to be.

“As for the fight itself, I have zero doubt in my mind that cry baby Thor is getting folded in half and sent packing back to Iceland.”

Bjornsson added: “I’m very excited with MTK Global’s involvement as this is something I’ve been taking very seriously and I want others to know how serious this fight will be.

“I’ve been extremely focused and dedicated in my training as always and I am looking forward to getting in that ring.”

Thoughts?

Powerlifting is a hobby of mine, which means I’ve kind of been following these guys on YouTube for a while, mainly because of their training methods, as well as watching their one-rep-max deadlift and bench press attempts.

Anyway, both men are laughably bad at boxing, but they deserve kudos for going out of their comfort zone, by engaging in a sport that isn’t suited for their physiques.

Anyone that’s seen Deontay Wilder recently performing his one-rep-max bench press lift, will surely appreciate that boxers aren’t that good at strength-related sports either.

Regardless, I think it’ll be an entertaining affair. And I’ll end up watching, even though I generally disapprove of these novelty circus events, because I know my curiosity will inevitably end up getting the better of me.

As weird as this may sound, I reckon the Bjornsson-Hall event will be one of boxing’s biggest revenue generators of 2021.

This is somewhat relevant. Calisthenics expert Chris Heria is training for a boxing match now. This guy/guru does bodyweight exercises with a weight vest on so that he can feel lighter than air. Seems like everyone wants to box now. :bag:

I agree. Ashamed at myself but am intrigued on this one. At least Thor has actually been seen in the ring with a few proper boxers.

In terms of novelty entertainment exhibitions, this weekends undercard and the main event should be much better than last weekends Triller farce, despite the fact that Devon Larratt is facing Bjornsson instead of Eddie Hall.
