Andrade sounds like he could well be another Ouma, Ikeke, etc.

If he'd have got to Germany to fight Beyer I could see him going the way of guys like Danny Green and Charles Brewer. i.e. going to Germany, doing some good boxing, but not really trying to win more than 5 rounds (I'm talking their rematches vs a pair of German fighters, in particular...)
Harding was 33, but he didn't have a lot of ring wear on him. He was still very close to his prime, and he got dominated...in fact, Harding was the favourite going in, as it was Chad's second ('permanent') fight at 175, and he was viewed as slightly inexperience still. On the whole, it was a very good win for Dawson.

As to Andrade, Ive been given the following source:

http://www2.canoe.com/sports/nouvelles/ ... 95200.html

"Moi, je n'ai pas livré 20 combats chez les amateurs"

He's had less than 20 amateur fights...talk about being inexperienced! And he's going for the titles now? shoutout2u's theory is looking very probable right now.

Thing is nowadays, the worthy challengers fight several good fighters before they are given a shot...three eliminators is wrong of course, but being forced to fight multiple eliminators isn't exactly uncommon anymore.

By the way, Andrade actually has a brother who was the same size as him, same record, etc, and was considered to be a better fighter than Andrade by most...Enrique Ornelas Andrade, who was also with Golden Boy. The guy was recently KOed by some journeyman.
andrade is nowhere near as good as kassim ouma...he is more on the caliber of recently exposed ornelas, and that's probably what oscar is afraid will happen to librado...so why not cash in the chips now & at least let him get beaten in a world title clash...then he still has enuf cred to go back to fighting B-level guys, promoted as "the guy who only lost to calzaghe" (or whoever)

Looking at his record, the only fighter who was even rated in the top 15 would have to be Otis Grant, a 40 year old career middleweight who hasnt fought since...needless to say, that does NOT make Andrade a legitimate challenger.

What boxing NEEDS is some way of controlling the sanctioning bodies, and stop them from enforcing these ridiculous mandatories, ESPECIALLY in the wake of unification fights, or else we'll be stuck with splintered titles, fraudulent champions, and crappy fights forever.
True Otis Grant is getting on in the years.
But I saw that fight and Andrade looked very strong.

Andrade isn't the guy who looks and fights like Julio Gonzalez is he? Lanky Mexican pressure fighter?

Just watched Dawson-Harding. Dawson is the real deal. Harding is a bastard to hit clean - remember the fits Tarver used to have with him? - and if Dawson can land those double/triple right hook combinations on an elusive southpaw, then he's even better than he looked that night.

I definitely don't buy that Harding was shot. he looked sharp early. he started looking old later on. certainly the massive layoff didn't help, but he was coming off an impressive win over David Telesco, where he boxed beautifully for most of the fight and faded a tad late.

Light heavy looks good. If only these guys will be like the super middles - where the international barriers are breaking down. Who would believe Calzaghe-Lacy and then the upcoming Kessler-Beyer? I think King will hold things back - appallingly he is preventing Adamek from getting any development. And Briggs - if his book is anything to go by - is desperate for work. Maybe Erdei is underrated - he's certainly skilled - but Universum are brave only when they want their fighters to TAKE the title, then they'll do anything to let them KEEP it. Erdei should look at Sturm, fu_ck around, waste time, and you can lose!

King clearly doesn't have any inclination to do anything for his best fighters. Is it because there's no heavyweight megafights, with Lewis, Tyson, Holyfield no longer factors? With no trickle down effect...Used to be underrated guys at least used to get a shitload of undercard work. Norris, Ricardo Lopez, Azumah Nelson. Now he just wants to sell out Worcestor (Rivera), St Louis (Cory Spinks), Chicago (exhume Golota), NY (disgraced Zab). I mean look at these guys, Rivera's still learning to be world class, Spinks stinks and CRIES, Golota is off his head and in deep shit with the law, and Judah is a f_ucking disgrace and a disappointment! Preposterous.

Andrade is very dangerous guy. I think Keysler and Calzage going to beat him on points, but Beyer going to get KO'd, if he fights Andrade.

Thats the one...limited, head first slugger type.

Glad you can see the light with Dawson. He lost maybe 2 rounds in that fight, including the off-balance KD in the 1st. :TU:

And I agree, 175 is looking great right now...Adamek, Erdei, Dawson, Johnson, Woods, Briggs, Tarver, etc, theres so many major players its unreal.

Yes there is truth to that Axe.
Still I thought Andrade did put in a good performance and appears to be a very physically strong individual.
Otis tried and had a few moments throughout the bout, but Andrade went right through him.
I would say it may be possible to outbox Andrade from the outside which Calzaghe could do,but if it goes inside then he may have a few problems.

Wow you really are wrong. Harding IS WELL past prime. Why do you think Dawson was a 2-1 favorite. Oh yeah that's right, what you just said is inaccurate. DAWSON was favored in that fight and for good reason. harding has been in quite a few tough fights and his ringwear is adding up. Harding is a good fighter but he's not anywhere near what he used to be.

As for Andrade, say what you want but he has demolished everyone who has been put in front of him as a professional. That's all you can ask of a fighter. He hits hard, has good handspeed, can counter a bit and is big as hell. Beyer was smart to cash out and fight Kessler because he would have gotten knocked out against Andrade.

That would be an excellent match up but Bute needs to raise his profile in both the States and Britain in order to make the fight a realistic possibility.
I think Andrade being with Golden Boy has a lot to do with his ranking. If he had beaten Salem, Thysse & Mock everyone would be crying about him not getting a shot

Andrade does have a stance like Calzaghe's. But obviously he sits down on his shots more and throws fewer punches.

Good point raised by Axe. All that faffing about for a guy who has one good win. Could be Lacy syndrome again. Yank starts to look good, and he apparently owns the world

my error, the comparisons with the limited julio Gonzalez went too far, jg being based out of California i think

anyhow, Beyer is taking the most important fight out there, the only fight of the year that truly counts alongside Calzaghe-lacy at the weight. & he's fighting a far better fighter in kessler than Andrade. That's four elite fighters - THE four elite fighters at the weight - going in against a man some consider his equal...& Andrade is ahead of the queue, when Bute - who is way better than Andrade - isn't even ready for a title fight!

Andrade would probably have gone to Germany and done a Brewer or a Byron Mitchell. Try and land big shots, do nowhere near enough to win more than 4 or 5 rounds, then bitch & moan about "robbery" afterward.

Harding wasn't way past his best. He was having a very good carer resurgence. He seemed to have been tired out by fights with Tarver x2, Jones & Glen Johnson. the time of helped him & he had 2 very good wins over Judah & Telesco. Dawson beating him is a major feat

Gonzalez was never hyped either, Jones took a lot of flack for fighting him. He's a OK fighter nothing more or less and that's it.

I don't really care to hear about how Beyer is fighting a better fighter all of a sudden. The reason being is look at the guys last few fights. Seriously, if people want to talk about some rubbish, Beyer's last few fights have been rubbish. Andrade would have been the best fighter that Beyer would have fought in quite some time. Instead Beyer went ahead and cashed out. It's better to lose to Kessler than Andrade I guess. Can't blame him but I call a spade a spade.

BTW- Harding looked like crap, he is well past his best. Judah and Telesco are OK wins but he was expected to beat them both. Like I said he was a good win but a good bit past his best.

whatever you think of Harding, you're surely impressed that Daswon beat a well regarded contender in his first fight at light heavyweight?

Beyer-Kessler is a very important fight. Who knows how good Andrade will be - a win over Otis Grant is good but Otis Grant wasn't a top fighter since before his accident. Grant was good when he was the WBO middleweight champion & was on the same level as Joppy, I guess.

Kessler right now has a much mroe impressive oeuvre than Andrade. Siaca, Mundine are both good, Lucas is ok, so was Thobela and JC Green might be a natural middle but he holds a win over Joppy and was still capable when Kessler 1 punch KO'd him. ..Unification is more important than taking on a dangerous top contender

Dawson's win over Harding was good. I am not saying it wasn't a good win. Just that he is a bit past it. Dawson is pretty impressive but I do wonder about his chin as he has been dropped early in fights more than once. I love his combinations and handspeed though.

As for Andrade-Beyer, I just think it's funny when he has a good mandatory he decides it's time to unify (cashout). He has fought some shitty competition, especially for a titleist now all of a sudden he has a decent mandatory and he decides it's time to unify.

I never said Andrade had a better resume than Kessler. He certainly don't. Kessler's win over Mundine is pretty damn impressive. Siaca looked pretty shitty against Kessler though and so did Thobela.

Post a link then, to back youre statement up.

All we read was how Chad was in over his head with a guy who was coming back to challenge the champ in Tarver, and how Chad was not supposed to be filled out yet at 175 (only his 2nd permanent fight there), etc. The media had Dawson as an underdog going in, so if you have odds from the bookies then post them, otherwise cease with the "facts", which seem to consist of only your distorted opinions.

By the way, from watching the fight, Harding looked like he had a LOT left, he just was never as fast or as strong in his career as Chad is right now, and was dominted on both the inside and outside.

He bet Harding at +250 and lost

Good enough for you to eat your words? Like I said, Dawson was favored by a decent margin to beat a faded harding.

Hah Im supposed to be eating my words? After you went on a tirade about Allan Green being a top ten fighter? Alright there. +250 on Harding was obviously a value bet, which is why your friend decided to take it. It would seem that Dawson was favoured by the bookies, but that doesnt mean that the majority of the media werent giving Harding a good chance.

And I see from those threads that even you had no idea who was going to win.

This discussion isn't about Green it was about Dawson-Harding. I said Dawson was favored, you didn't. You was wrong. :TU:

You were wrong.

And I at least can admit being wrong. Unlike you who said something like "I dont care what Ring mag or fightnews says, Green is a top ten fighter" when I pointed out the obvious errors in your comments. :TU:

No, I was correct. Dawson was the favorite over Harding. I am not sure why you keep trying to bring the Green discussion into this. IMO he is top 10. He is in MY top 10, there aren't 10 guys at 168 that I pick to beat him. You don't agree with my ranking. Oh well, it's my opinion. I didn't agree with you about Harding being favored over Dawson because it is a FACT that he wasn't.

Apparently the context of the first sentence in my last post went right over your head. :D

As to Green-Lacy, you said:
Well when top 10 guys fight typically I care who wins.
Which is saying that both guys are legitimately rated in the top ten. Only once I pointed that out did you backtrack and start saying 'IMO they are top ten guys, I dont care about the real ratings', etc.

Surely I think we can let all that go at this point?

Thanks for bumping my thread though. :TU:
