Leonard vs Hearns I 40th Year Anniversary: Your Thoughts.

Post by elmersalsa »

A night like tonight on September 16, 1981 at The Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, NV, Sugar Ray Leonard unified the welter crown against Thomas Hearns.

We all know what happened. See the fight again and relive the fight.

Prime Hearns was a machine. Nobody had ever outboxed him in prime. Only his shaky chin left possibilities to win him.

Leonard showed sheer determination to pull out such a victory.

I think that his legs and chin betrayed him in that fight with Leonard.

We also found out that after certain rounds like in the 6th and on, his punching power started to fade away.
