This is wild... Triller move the date, Teo standing firm, Kambosa now has no idea when he is fighting... Big football clash if they do it on the 4th, and jammed between AJ vs usyk and wilder vs fury... this card has to lose money..

Outside of laughing at it it has zero hype too, unless Teo has some hardcore fans i cant see this doing over 200k buys.

Hmmm this acctually increases the events credibility. They managed to make the thing worth Teo's time, contract instead of conflict once for a change.

IBF probably should have stepped in a while ago. But the payday at stake is pretty big if it goes ahead.

They probably just said if its not then we will pull out. doubt they bothered adding to teos purse. the threat of pulling out is enough. They pull out teo gets a couple hundred thousaand instead of a couple of milion... Triller will probably lose more money on this event than they would on the deposite.

Teofimo Lopez approves date, venue changes for title defense; challenger George Kambosos yet to approve moves

Teofimo Lopez has signed a contract to allow Triller to move his lightweight championship fight with George Kambosos from Monday, Oct. 4, at New York's Hulu Theater at MSG, to Saturday Oct. 16, at Brooklyn's Barclays Center, Triller's Ryan Kavanaugh and Teofimo Lopez Sr., the fighter's father and trainer, both told ESPN on Thursday.

Kambosos, who lives in Sydney, also must sign off on the date change and hasn't done so yet, sources tell ESPN. In fact, Kambosos (19-0, 10 KOs) was sleeping (due to the time difference) when Lopez sent over the contract and his team hasn't yet informed the 28-year-old contender that the champion has agreed to move the fight two weeks.

Triller, which won the rights to the fight at February's purse bid with a commitment of $6.018 million, is trying to avoid competing with ESPN's Monday Night Football game between the Las Vegas Raiders and Los Angeles Chargers.

If the event moves as planned, Triller will forfeit a $100,000 deposit with Madison Square Garden, sources said. MSG officials didn't respond to messages seeking comment.

"I want the best for my son and I think this is the big stage for him. Fighting Oct. 4 would have f------ killed us," Lopez Sr., said, referring to the rare move to stage a fight on a Monday night. "Everyone would have been laughing at us. I think this is the right thing to do.

"Money is not everything," he added. "The money will come. Exposure is more important than everything in the world right now."

Triller, which owns the popular rap-battle series, Verzuz, would pair the fight with a Verzuz event at Barclays Center, Kavanaugh said. It is unable to do so at Hulu Theater, he said, because of space constraints following a chaotic event last month with The Lox vs. Dipset. Hulu Theater's capacity is approximately 5,500; Barclays Center holds nearly 19,000.

Kavanaugh said he dealt directly with Lopez Sr. rather than the fighter's manager, David McWater. Lopez Sr. said he "made this power move" to ensure the fight proceeds and avoid another conflict that keeps his son out of the ring any longer.

Lopez (16-0, 12 KOs) hasn't fought since a career-best performance in October, a decision victory over pound-for-pound great Vasiliy Lomachenko to capture all four belts at 135 pounds. The 24-year-old Brooklyn native, who would enjoy a homecoming bout at Barclays Center, is ESPN's No. 1 lightweight and No. 5 pound-for-pound boxer.

"We've always been huge believers in Teofimo, we think he's one of the best of our time," Kavanaugh said. "It's unfortunate we had many bumps in the road. However, if it was easy, everyone would do it. Typically in our experience, the most challenging turns out to be the most rewarding.

"100% going forward on the 16th," he added. "We're very excited about pairing it with a Verzuz. A fight of this magnitude deserves the world stage, and that's what we're giving it."

Lopez is in the midst of a multiyear deal with Top Rank, which has an exclusive deal with ESPN. After failed negotiations between the boxer and his promoter, the rights to the fight headed to a purse bid. The fight was set for June 19 in Miami before Lopez tested positive for COVID days before the bout.

If the fight indeed moves to Oct. 16, it would be at least the fifth date change for the event.

Lopez vs Kambosos now officially listed for Oct. 16 in Brooklyn

The long-delayed Teofimo Lopez return against George Kambosos Jr once again has a new official date

Teofimo Lopez’s repeatedly-delayed return against mandatory challenger George Kambosos Jr appears to be fully set for Saturday, Oct. 16, the latest date for the troubled event from Triller Fight Club.

FITE TV are now officially listing the fight for that date, having previously had it set for Monday, Oct. 4, which Triller recently decided to change. The fight has also had dates on June 5 and June 19, and also proposed dates of Aug. 14 and Sept. 11 that didn’t work out.

Triller surprised everyone by winning the purse bid for the bout, paying much more than Matchroom Boxing or Top Rank offered back in February, and the fight has been a mess to actually get in the ring since then.

Right now, it appears it will finally happen, with Brooklyn’s Barclays Center booked for a true Lopez (16-0, 12 KO) homecoming as he defends his WBA, IBF, and WBO lightweight titles against IBF mandatory Kambosos (19-0, 10 KO), who will be a major underdog but does have some believers, including those who feel Lopez may not be taking this fight as seriously as he should.

The most recent update had been that Lopez’s team had signed off on moving the fight back another 12 days, while Triller were waiting for Kambosos’ side to do the same.

The undercard has already been announced and isn’t going to excite anyone, but with this move to the new date, Triller have also promised to pair the show with a big Verzuz rap battle event, which should help make up some money already lost, because those have actually found a legitimate audience and have taken off big on social media.

As for boxing competition it faces, DAZN will have Mikey Garcia returning against Sandor Martin that evening, which isn’t likely to cut into potential buys in any difference-making number. Among those who were going to buy Lopez-Kambosos in the first place, Garcia-Martin is not something that will likely change many minds.

Teo should take a leaf out of Loma’s book.

Give him $300k from his purse.

That’s what it took to make Loma-Teo right?

Kambosos either changes the date or it goes to Hearn and they all get paid less even Arum.

Triller probably don’t care if they lose it eh?

They already lost was it $100k to MSG for moving it.

Triller should for their own sake make a deal with the man. I think that Triller will have to pay him his entire purse anyway. The man is just that a man and not a prostitute, they can't just keep on changing the date on him, these date changes do also add up in extra costs and work for Kambosos so why shouldn't he get those expenses paid and a little profit ontop?

If I was Kambosos and I was weighing my possibilities.

A. Be Trillers lapdog.
B. Get Trillers cash and perhaps get the fight plus another purse at a later date regardless or atleast the title.

B does have its advantages.

Teofimo Lopez vs George Kambosos Jr. – Timeline of an absolute mess

The current situation regarding Teofimo Lopez and George Kambosos Jr. finally fighting for the undisputed lightweight championship is hard to digest.

From the time Lopez celebrated a career-high $6.02 million purse by having a poster mocked up and stating he’d made it to the big time, to where are now is completely unfathomable.

Delay after delay coupled with disaster after disaster in arranging the date and venue has made a mockery of the mandatory process lauded by many.

The International Boxing Federation must be tearing their hair out. They are long known for their impeccable record of enforcing stipulated battles and doing everything by the book.

Triller, who won the purse bid in a blaze of glory, looks more like an amateur outfit with every passing day.

WBN’s Lead Contributor Dan Rafael updated on Tuesday night as the farce took another twist despite Triller wanting to move the event to October 16.

Lopez agreed, probably as he wants this whole ordeal to be over. Meanwhile, challenger Kambosos refused to sign off.

The major points of Rafael’s article are listed below and can be read in full HERE.

Triller wins purse bid for $6.02 million. Lopez gets $3.9m, Kambosos $2.1m.

Originally reported for earlier but scheduled for June 19 in Miami. The fight then got postponed as Lopez caught Covid.

Rescheduled for October 5.

Rescheduled for October 4 due to Yankees baseball game.

Triller attempted to move again to October 16 at Barclays Center.

George Kambosos disagreed and asked his attorney wrote to the IBF asking for a default ruling.
-------------------------

So what happens if Kambosos wins his default attempt? – Rafael explained the scenario.

“Lopez is entitled to 65 percent of the money ($3,911,700), although he must pay Top Rank 20 percent ($782,340). Kambosos is entitled to 35 percent ($2,106,300) minus a roughly a double-digit cut to DiBella. Both fighters were looking at career-high purses,” outlined Rafael.

“If the IBF declares Triller in default, it will forfeit the 20 percent it deposited with the IBF after the purse bid ($1,203,600).”

He added that both fighters “would split that money between them on a 65-35 split” to Teofimo Lopez.

And then, “Matchroom Boxing, as the under bidder, would have the option to promote the fight for its winning bid.”

Lopez will be hoping this all doesn’t go south. If it does, he stands to lose almost $3 million in purse revenue. Kambosos will drop $1.5m.

If Matchroom decides to pick up the slack, Lopez and Kambosos would still be considerably out of pocket.

What an absolute mess.

• Triller moved the date of the Lopez-Kambosos Jr. fight four times
• George Kambosos Jr. withdrew from the fight, because of Triller's constant rescheduling
• Triller loses their $1,203,600 deposit, which is paid to Teofimo Lopez ($782,340) and George Kambosos Jr. ($421,260)
• Matchroom Boxing now has the option to cover the Lopez-Kambosos Jr. fight, with purses paid in line with their bid
• Teofimo Lopez is angry about his purse being cut due to Matchroom's smaller purse bid
• The shortfall in George Kambosos Jr's purse is almost entirely catered for by the payment he'll receive from Triller's lost deposit (i.e. $1.5m + $421K ≈ $2m)

The only person really missing out on Triller losing the rights to the fight are Teofimo Lopez and his promoter, Top Rank (Uncle Bob Arum's 20% stake).

No wonder Teo’s angry.

If I was in George Kambosos Jr’s shoes, I’d probably make the same decision and withdraw from the fight (due to Triller's constant rescheduling).

He’s going to receive the same payday anyway, but the event will be staged by a reputable promoter who won't keep rescheduling the fight date.

George Kambosos has a solid case against Triller for the full ammount of his purse so why should he play nice if Triller wont?

Fully agree although there’s a risk Eddie opts not to do the fight. They’re spending far less in the Us than they have been. Saying that though with all of this Triller noise and rubbish it’s probably a bigger fight now than when the purse bids happened.
