Anthony Joshua vs. Oleksandr Usyk - 25 September 2021

Normally I'm not that interested in HW weigh ins.
This time I'm wondering how heavy Uysk is going to be. He looks so solid around the chest and shoulders.
Maybe he is going to show us he has power?
In England, his best chance of a win is TKO/KO if its near to close. So why not come in ready to put heat on a straight left hand- something Joshua isn't that used to.

I believe Usyk will aim to win by stoppage. I can’t see him banking on getting a fair crack with the judges.

Put it this way if you score the fight 116-112 do you believe Usyk will get the decision? I don’t.

And Joshua will win at least 3 or 4 rounds. Usyk tends to start fairly slow & he’ll be careful especially early doors so I think a shut out or close to it is pretty much impossible.

It not particulary about the amount of rounds, but also about their quality. I mean, if Usyk wins 8 rounds with a moderate margin, some of them can be easily given to Joshua by the hometown judges. If Usyk looks too dominant there, probably he would leave no choice. I believe, Usyk can win even 9 rounds and to do it convincingly enough, so I'm picking him by a dec.

I’m not sure. Take 40 yr old past his best Wlad out of the list and who was truly world level when he fought them ? Whyte was a poorly conditioned British level slugger, Pulev was past his best, Povetkin too, All the others are fringe guys for me.

Fury’s fights on the road against top class peak Wlad and Wilder outstrip all AJ’s middling fights combined imo

Nah Fury just snuggled Klitchko around the ring .
And OK he battered Wilder in the 2nd fight but everyone knows Wilder is vastly over rated .

He completely nullified a Wlad who beat everyone else to a pulp in that period.

Maybe the 40 guys Wilder knocked spark out don’t think he’s so overrated
Hindsight’s a wonderful thing but until the 2nd fight with Fury, many people had Wilder as one of the big three truly elite heavys

Loads on here were questioning his boxing ability before fury 1 .
Sure he has TNT in the swinging right , but so could anyone else if they wanted to train to fight that way .

It’s nothing to do with sanctioning bodies being corrupt (which they are for a lot of stuff). Usyk would have had the choice between going to purse bids where there’s a risk he’ll get less but there not be a rematch or take the deal offered.

He took the deal as most people do.

Usyk looks strong at the weight, and not overly bulked up either.

I think 240 is a good weight for AJ. Will be really interesting to see whether Usyk can hold a shot. Really looking forward to the fight now. Feels like the first properly big U.K. fight in ages.

I see it going a bit like the Povetkin fight - nip and tuck and then AJ lands a big shot and ends the fight.
