Re: Makhmudov vs Erkan Teper set for sep.23
at this point im not even sure Mak has special power. just vssing guys that allow him to club the fornicate out of them. first KD was a good left hook, everything else was just whacking a guy incapable of defending...

This bout is a joke.

I was actually trying to think who would give him rounds...margaret thatcher wrote: ↑23 Sep 2021, 22:19 big mak has just steamrolled all his opponents, hasnt had to box at all really, just like heavy bag work vs guys overwhelmed by the power. hope he's at least getting really good sparring to prepare him for opponents who will give something back
Re: Makhmudov vs Erkan Teper set for sep.23
Another can crush for big Mak. And his head twitching is so irritating. Hopefully his head gets twiched by a punch soon, against more or less alive opponent.

He's not pleasant to watch at all
Not sure how far he will go but he has enough power to blast out tomato cans like Teper

I look like Chris Hemsworth in comparison to Erkan Teper!
It wouldn't be so bad if the guy could fight, but he's clearly unable to do much physically.

Mak needs to fight someone that wants to win. Gassieve would be a cracker. Yoka, hrgovic, efe, Bakole, Takem, Kuzman, sanchez, romonov, nathan gorman, hughie, zhang....
while ill admit some of those are a pipedream, Kuz, Bakole, Takem, Sanchez (if he loses close)., romonov, they have to be doable.

Makhmudov has done nothing for the last four years. He's in the same boat as Hrgovic.
Both guys receive a lot hype and appear to have potential, but they aren't doing anything meaningful their careers.

The head twitch was actually more interesting than the fight.
Re: Makhmudov vs Erkan Teper set for sep.23
That wasn't the biggest surprise even this morning. I took some last minute rubbish out but the binmen had already been. Sorry that was about as compelling as the fight wasn't it?
In answer to Kiwi's question about who would give him rounds, my immediate thought was Andrei Rudenko but I've a feeling a good chin isn't going to be enough. Maybe a better bet might be someone like Johnnie Rice?
I just remembered he already beat him didn't he? Maybe Demirezen or maybe Takam even. Got it! ... Sergei Kuzmin.

Problem is eye of the tiger(mak promoter) need a lot of money to bring a decent opponent. Why would you take the risk of getting hurt and loosing your top 10 ranking if there is not a big amount of money at the end.
As far as opponent i wouldn't be scare to put him in front of anybody in the top 10.
He needs round before going against Wilder and fury(that's the top level).Joshua wouln't scare him
Yoka,ruiz,etc.... bring them on!!
They need to break the piggy bank thought.

Eye of the Lion, surely?
He probably wouldn't be scared of Joshua but AJ would pick him apart and destroy him. I think it was Mihai Nistor who made Makhmudin look like the mummy right up until Mak caught him and stopped him at end of their fight in the WSB. Nistor is one of those short-arse pressure-fighters, it's not like he's any kind of defensive wizard.
Mak is as ready for top contenders as he's likely to get but he needs to be selective in picking which top contender. There is also the very real problem which you alluded to, that top contenders are going to want a serious payday to risk their status against someone who is both lowly ranked and potentially very dangerous.

I have worked a lot with big Mak. He is a big puncher, and is getting better. I’m anxious to see how he does against top guys. I believe he has what it takes to beat the top guys, but he needs more rounds in fights. I believe their matchmaking is pretty good so far. What is the rush?

Re: Makhmudov vs Erkan Teper set for sep.23
Makhmudov has had 100 amateur fights, losing only ten of them.
Russian national champion in the amateurs. And he also gained a lot of experience in the WSB (i.e. the top-rated fighter 2014-15 season).
But what has he achieved during his four-year spell in the pros?
He’s had ten first round KO’s during the course of his entire 13 professional career, having gone further than three rounds only once.
How much can you really learn from so many mismatches?
He's 32 years of age, but he's competing against the sort of opposition raw novices are typically matched against.

We will do a kickstarter and fundraising for his next fight,i'm pretty sure we will raise enough money to help his manager.........a bit.
Canadian champion Mladen miljas could be a good opponent( he's on a 2 year layoff)but it's always the same problem
Risk vs money..

I'm a huge fan of Mak. Love a good boxing match, but also a beast putting it on someone. Makhmudov is def a beast.JOEY DAWEJKO wrote: ↑24 Sep 2021, 10:27 I have worked a lot with big Mak. I was waiting for you to come in Oogs. I remember you extolling Mak's virtues, and at the time there was so little to see of him, like Joey D said, he needs more rounds.oogiebe wrote: ↑24 Sep 2021, 13:41I'm a huge fan of Mak. His career is moving so slowly though. That opponent should have been his first or second pro fight.

He should try to get a fight with some of the older guys like Ortiz, Chisora or even Pulev...
At least they would do something.

Hes 32 years old. time to step up. Fight vs SImon Kean can be a big deal in Canada maybe ? Or should he chase fights in US?

Interesting postJoe.Kelly wrote: ↑24 Sep 2021, 19:03 Teper looked fat, unconditioned, and unprepared for this bout. Looks to me like Teper has really declined over the years. I was at ringside for one of his early fights in Miami, back in 2010. Today's version of Teper is just a mere shadow of the athlete he had once been.
As for Makhmudov, I think the jury is still out concerning what kind of fighter he'll ultimately be. Certain he looks strong. But he seems somewhat slow and mechanical. Superficially, it looks like he's a big banger, but even that's hard to verify given that his opponents' so far are all over-the-hill guys. So we'll see what becomes of Makhmudov.
One things for certain about Makhmudov. If his Canadian promoters want to turn him into a champion, just for the commercial windfall, they can do it. That's because in today's four ring circus atmosphere in boxing, anyone gets to be champ as long as they have backers willing to pay for it.
Mak hasn't even proven he can go rounds as a pro yet. And I am not counting Rice.
I mean, all these knock overs don't prove anything for me.
People were hot on him (some still are) and yet I'm still waiting for him to prove he can hang with someone with a will to live, let alone win.

Teper has a body shape of an old, lesbian feminist.
