That’s a hell of a shot Usyk takes there to be fair, looks promising, but you never know…Not sure how he is mandatory, I mean beating Dell boy ? come on, the guys got 11 losses he’s a journey man, he’s not really proved anything at heavyweight yet.

I'm pretty sure a champion for the WBO in a lower division becomes mandatory if he moves up in weight regardless

He is quick on his feet and moves very well, I'm not sure if Joshua will be able to land clean a lot even despite the reach advantage. Joshua couldn't drop Takam, Parker, Ruiz, so my guess is that Usyk can withstand his power too. Chisora couldn't hurt him more than CW's Briedis and Gassiev.

AJ’s landed clean on everyone he’s fought. He did drop Takam albeit it was just his glove that hit the deck and he dropped Ruiz in their first fight. He didn’t seem to go for it against Parker and rightly, even though Ruiz was obese, kept out of range in the Ruiz rematch.

Chisora didn’t land much/if anything on Usyk and is pretty crude. AJ has mixed, and won, at a much higher level. Povetkin was in good form against him and after a handful of close rounds he was caught properly.

I’m not saying Usyk doesn’t have a good chin or won’t be able to take one of AJ’s big shots - im just saying we don’t know yet and the fact that he could take a fairly big punching Cruiser’s shots doesn’t prove loads to me.

How hard do you think Gassiev hits?

I think he hits pretty hard for a cruiser. Not Haye power but he’s a spiteful puncher that’s accurate. From memory he seemed to work people over with combinations rather than having people Ko’d with one punch.

Yeah. It was a very hard punch from a cuiserweight though. Will be interesting to see if he can take one from a very hard hitting heavy with good ability.

I agree with your assessment of the fight.

AJ landed on Parker but just didn’t throw much as he didn’t need to. I think he’ll need to throw more against Usyk - particularly if Usyk is winning nor nicking the rounds.

This will be a good fight. It can end various ways. Fans did not realize how hard is to outbox Joshua, on the other side, they underestimating Usyk punching power. Joshua UD and Usyk KO are just as probable as Joshua KO and Usyk UD. Fights like this is what boxing and especially heavyweight need

My thoughts are that making Joshua work hard and waiting for him to gas is an option. Uysk has a good ring IQ and an excellent team (they both do) around him. There has to be a plan, and you have seen how laid back Uysk is, so you know that he has confidence going into this.
I don't know if that confidence is unfounded, but even just being confident is s good start. Of course that could change after Uysk eats half a dozen of AJ's power jabs, who knows.
When this fight was made, I was 100% AJ bossing this fight, right now I don't know. I'm old enough to feel the same vibe when Holyfield won a HW strap.

Also threw a few quid on Usyk by KO/TKO @ 15/2, which is pretty good value I feel. The noises from team Usyk are good. That said Joshua by KO is the most likely outcome I reckon, but its hard to call this with certainty.

To be honest, Hunter is easily top 10, so I can see Gassiev being capable of beating everyone there (except the very top guys, of course). He is still young.
