Usyk vs Fury Poll

Post by SAPFO »

Fury has his win vs Wlad, and his demolition of Wildwer, and Usyk has his proven pedigree of 315-15, and collecting every accolade possible along the way to last night. He’s seen it all, and has never failed to deliver when it mattered.

So, who you got?

Usyk is a grandmaster of boxing. He can box the hell out of everybody.

Fury is both a boxer and a fighter. He can box masterfully, he can rough it up if boxing doesn't works. He can impose every gameplan on anybody and he can use his size.

So, Fury for me. Usyk is #2 today.

I wouldn't discount Usyk at all after the way he dominated last night, 11 experts called if for Joshua last night and were all wrong.Fury has beaten an ancient Wlad in the worst title fight for years and then stopped Wilder, who is regarded by most as having no boxing skills, just a right hand.As it stands I'd pick Usyk because he's more reliable.

That’s it in a nutshell. If Usyk was bigger I couldn’t see anyone beating him but Fury is and is skilful with it. Fury is the man to beat

Fury is the man to beat, but Usyk is a credible opponent.

It seems weird to me people say that had AJ come charging in throwing bombs he’d have won or done better.

Usyk was lighting him up and in the last round they exchanged and Usyk nearly had AJ down. In terms of close in exchanges I think Usyk would land regularly and based off of last night I don’t think AJ is guaranteed to land some huge bomb at all.

I commented early AJ didn’t seem to be clinching and leaning on Usyk at all I’d imagine Lennox Lewis or Wlad would have been smothering him a lot.

Fury may well manage to get in and out better or maul better but we’ve seen Usyk out skill so many guys before it’s hardly a foregone conclusion.

Right. Joshua started to eat Usyk's punches from the very beginning. It was Usyk who forced Joshua box that way. You box how your opponent allow you to.

Fury knows how to use his weight and size. Also, his IQ in comparison to AJs is levels above. I think it’s a case of a good big man beating a good little’un

Fury should have enough to win a lopsided decision.

AJ should have had enough also, bit got hit by s tactics well wrong and got himself embroiled in a boxing match in which he wasn't able to utilise his own strengths.

Fury won't make the same mistake, he will get in close and lean on Usyk for a few rounds, once Usyk starts to tire he will then look to push him back with the jab and keep him at arms length for the remainder of the fight.
It won't be pretty bit it is damned effective.

Does anyone else fear that the years of hard living will catch up with Fury and the wheels will fall off one night?

Inactivity could result in him getting ko'd by Wilder,I know they've both been inactive but I can't imagine Wilder ballooning in weight inbetween,we'll see in 2 weeks

Joshua fights by numbers - he is not a natural fighter so needs to set everything up; if something doesn`t work he will reset, and try something exactly the same way as before. With big strong 17st guys that can often be enough.

Usyk had an answer for everything Joshua tried last night; as said above - steaming into Usyk will likely be an easier fight for Usyk and stoppage loss for Joshua ... its clear now that Joshua does not have a sold set of whiskers and single shots can get him going.

Fury is different. He enjoys fighting. He is also single-minded enough to stink the place out to get the win .. he is not the slightest bit bothered about putting on a show. Fury would use every inch in height and every kilo in weight advantage to wear down Usyk.

Good assessment bigJack,I picked Fury for this one,he moves a hell of a lot better than that big stiff from Watford and when the going gets tough Fury stands his ground and will not shy away when he gets hit with a jab.
I wouldn't be shocked if usyk beat fury but I just think fury has what it takes to beat usyk.

Unlike Joshua, Fury has the kind of conditioning to either box your head off for 12 rounds or to make it a slug fest for 12 rounds. He knows how to use his size to his absolute advantage, and yet he has the mobility and skill set of someone much smaller.

Fury is like a giant version of Usyk, so it would be an incredible task for the Ukrainian to try to overcome. Joshua, for all the hype surrounding him, has always had limitations and flaws that nobody wanted to accept or believe.

Usyk said after last night that wasn't his best performance and I believe him.I think him v Fury would be a belter,Usyk can adapt to any style so maybe he could work out the long reach of Fury, love to see him have a go.

Uysks a great boxer, so is Fury. Fury is more unpredictable so I give him the edge.
Style wise its a bloody horrible fight though :verysad:

Assuming that Fury just makes it a boxing match, which I don't think would be the case. He may box only to set up mauling tactics, etc. Fury has a higher IQ than Anthony Joshua in terms of boxing abilities so I can't see him being suckered into trying to outbox Usyk--- but then again, Fury outboxed Klitschko rather than turn it into a dog fight because he loved the challenge of it. So who knows.

Good fight, but i think the reach and weight would probably prove a hurdle too far for Usyk - Fury seems to have that formula down.

Fury isn't really a bigger version of Usyk though is he. Fury can't put a combination together like Usyk can and is much slower, and I doubt very much he has the better footwork.

Fury could maul him to death, but Usyk isn't wilder, and I can't see that being the case if they fight.

I'm not sure it's the foregone conclusion people think.

People get caught up with hype in boxing.

Usyk will see those big limbs coming. Fury will take a lot of body shots, so that spare tire might come in handy.

Usyk handled Joyce, but Fury has 3 extra inches in height, and 5 in reach!

It’s a tall order, no pun intended. 😂

I agree with that.

Think Usyks movement will pose lots of problems for Fury if he isn't at it. The size and long limbs of Fury and the constant feints, stutter steps and using the extra poundage may make a difference. Interesting fight if/when it happens.
