Demetrius Andrade Might Fight Jason Quigley On Nov. 20, Eddie Hearn Says

Demetrius Andrade’s return to the ring is imminent.

Matchroom Boxing head Eddie Hearn has intimated that the WBO middleweight champion Andrade will next fight Jason Quigley on Nov. 20 either in Boston or Providence on DAZN.

“I think Quigley might get the fight. It’s a decent name in America and a good fight for the East Coast. I’d like to give [Quigley] the opportunity,” Hearn told Pro Boxing Fans. “Again, none of the big names are forthcoming to fight Demetrius Andrade. He needs to fight. November 20, potentially in Boston or Providence. I think Quigley might get it.”

The big names that Hearn is hinting to include the likes of 160-pound champions Jermall Charlo and Gennadiy Golovkin. Top-flight contenders in Jaime Munguia, Sergiy Derevyanchenko and Chris Eubank Jr. can also be grouped in that list. A career-defining fight is still missing from the 33-year-old Andrade’s resume.

Andrade (30-0, 18 KOs) is a Providence native who has headlined twice on DAZN in Boston and Rhode Island markets since 2018. He is coming off an April unanimous decision win over Liam Williams, but his biggest fight of the year was a press conference kerfuffle when he called out Canelo Alvarez.

The 30-year-old Quigley (19-1, 14 KOs) is coming off a May majority decision win over Shane Mosley Jr. The Irishman suffered his lone career loss via ninth-round stoppage to Tureano Johnson in 2019.

Assuming Boo Boo wins this fight, then this means that Demetrius Andrade has only fought the likes of Walter Kautondokwa, Artur Akavov, Maciej Sulecki, Luke Keeler, Liam Williams and Jason Quigley over a time period spanning more than four years.

Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom USA was responsible for making all of those fights!

FFS! :brick:

Good payday for Quigley hopefully.
Well , Eddie was wrong when he said he couldn't get Andrade fights, he just can't get him good meaningful ones..

Hearn is really selling the notion fighters are afraid to fight Andrade?

Cheeky even for his standards.

How else would you put it? Offer another belt holder (Charlo) $6-7 million and no response. Andrade has called out GGG and Canelo for several years now.

I've called out Fury and Wilder that fight aint happening either. 2 weights he's never fought another world title holder, they can't ALL be avoiding him can they? The dude acts like he's SRL when his boxing career has been pretty much win a belt, hold it hostage and fight absolutely nobody of any threat whatsoever.

Then he complains Canelo and GGG don't want to fight him? Earn that fight by beating the best of the rest then, something he hasn't done.

Not a lot at 160. Plenty of challenges at 168. He'd be mandatory at least, but Canelo still won't fight him. Benevidez would, Eubank jr.

I don't know how long Andrade can make 160 and keep his "0" but he may end up like getting beat by a nobody.

I doubt that GGG, Charlo, Munguia or Eubank Jr will fight Andrade but aslo I think Benavidez would do it.

None are interested. Mungia even gave up hi mandatory, 37-0 fighting Rosario who has 13 losses. Time to move up.

Having the wbo mw title I think Andrade still hopes he'd land a good fight at 160 like GGG or Charlo and if he wins, then he'd have a bargain chip to get a fight with Canelo @ 168. I guess this may be their plan.

Canelo won't fight Andrade, said he's a horrible fighter. That's went on for years now. Doubt if Canelo fights Benevidez either.

He's a hard guy to like, I know. I think it's more of a high risk low reward thing. Hearn seems willing to put money behind him. I was hoping Canelo or Charlo would humble him, but it's hard to look good against a slick skilled southpaw his size, with a somewhat negative style.

Prior to joining Matchroom, Demetrius Andrade rejected the Jermell Charlo bout (twice), as well as opportunities to face Sergiy Derevyanchenko, Matt Korobov and Erislandy Lara. Demetrius also previously conceded that he wasn't ready to face Billy Joe Saunders.

It’s clear that Andrade has received massive opportunities in the past, but he rejected them.

And for whatever reason, Matchroom flatly-refuses to match him up against any of his big-name fellow stablemates. And that’s pretty bad!

What do all these guys have in common?

• Canelo
• Gennadiy Golovkin
• Callum Smith
• Billy Joe Saunders
• Chris Eubank Jr.
• Carlos Gongora
• John Ryder
• Rocky Fielding
• Felix Cash
• John Docherty
• Alexis Espino
• Diego Pacheco
• Austin Williams
• Lerrone Richards
• John Hedges
• Dmitry Bivol
• Anthony Fowler
• Khalil Coe

They’re all fighters physically able to compete either at 160lbs or 168lbs and are (or recently were) promoted by Matchroom that haven’t been matched against their fellow stablemate, Demetrius Andrade.

I haven’t even bothered to list other fighters indirectly affiliated with Matchroom, either because they’re on the same platform or their promoters work with Eddie Hearn (i.e. Jaime Munguia, D'Mitrius Ballard, Bektemir Melikuziev, Shane Mosley Jr. etc.). :OhYes:

Son , do you have any valid proofs from Andrade/his team about rejecting those fights?(Charlo,Chenko,Korobov and Lara) Didn't BJS got caught using nasal spray and the fight vs Andrade was off?

Anyway Andrade vs Ryder, Eubank Jr or BJS are fights that could be made.

Andrade wants to unify. The only top 10 guy in WBO that is willing to fight is Quigly. BJS and Ryder are at 168, Bivol is at 175 ffs. Eubank Jr apparently isn't interested either. BJS was, but found a way out.

Name a top guy at 160 that Andrade has turned down. Forget Canelo, he won't fight Andrade no matter what.

What happens when you get a belt? Title defences and try to unify. Mungia won't fight either.

Yes, he's with Team Sauerland.

However, in order for Sauerland fighters to appear on Sky Sports, they had to work with Adam Smith's primary boxing content provider, Matchroom (as per Eubank Jr's most recent bout against Marcus Morrison, which was on the undercard of the Chisora-Parker event).

The Sauerland brothers are good friends with Eddie Hearn and they also previously had a long-term deal in place (signed in 2015) where they shared fights across several broadcasting platforms in their respective countries.

However, Wasserman recently acquired Team Sauerland and they've filled the void left by Matchroom when Eddie Hearn took his fighters away from Sky Sports to work exclusively with DAZN.

So now we'll see Chris Eubank Jr. regularly appearing on Sky Sports via Wasserman.

That said, when Eddie was working with the Sauerlands, he could have easily made the Andrade-Eubank Jr. fight, but he didn't.

The Andrade-Eubank Jr. fight might still be possible, as long as DAZN and Sky Sports can successfully negotiate a deal for the broadcast rights.
