I get advertised to quite a bit from Fite TV on social media - it’s still saying next week when it’s pretty clear now it’s the 16th.

The sooner Triller are out of boxing the better. You’d be really pissed if you bought tickets at MSG and no it’s not happening. They’ll get the money back but lose out on the booking fee due to Triller’s incompetence.

Teo should take a leaf out of Loma’s book.

Give him $300k from his purse.

That’s what it took to make Loma-Teo right?

Kambosos either changes the date or it goes to Hearn and they all get paid less even Arum.

Triller probably don’t care if they lose it eh?

They already lost was it $100k to MSG for moving it.

They’d lose the deposit they paid - $1.2m.

It’s crazy that it’s 2 weeks to go and it’s still not confirmed. Has a fight ever moved this much before?

Compare that to their winning bid?

It’s a bloody steal.

Teofimo Lopez vs George Kambosos Jr. – Timeline of an absolute mess

The current situation regarding Teofimo Lopez and George Kambosos Jr. finally fighting for the undisputed lightweight championship is hard to digest.

From the time Lopez celebrated a career-high $6.02 million purse by having a poster mocked up and stating he’d made it to the big time, to where are now is completely unfathomable.

Delay after delay coupled with disaster after disaster in arranging the date and venue has made a mockery of the mandatory process lauded by many.

The International Boxing Federation must be tearing their hair out. They are long known for their impeccable record of enforcing stipulated battles and doing everything by the book.

Triller, who won the purse bid in a blaze of glory, looks more like an amateur outfit with every passing day.

WBN’s Lead Contributor Dan Rafael updated on Tuesday night as the farce took another twist despite Triller wanting to move the event to October 16.

Lopez agreed, probably as he wants this whole ordeal to be over. Meanwhile, challenger Kambosos refused to sign off.

The major points of Rafael’s article are listed below and can be read in full HERE.

Triller wins purse bid for $6.02 million. Lopez gets $3.9m, Kambosos $2.1m.

Originally reported for earlier but scheduled for June 19 in Miami. The fight then got postponed as Lopez caught Covid.

Rescheduled for October 5.

Rescheduled for October 4 due to Yankees baseball game.

Triller attempted to move again to October 16 at Barclays Center.

George Kambosos disagreed and asked his attorney wrote to the IBF asking for a default ruling.
-------------------------

So what happens if Kambosos wins his default attempt? – Rafael explained the scenario.

“Lopez is entitled to 65 percent of the money ($3,911,700), although he must pay Top Rank 20 percent ($782,340). Kambosos is entitled to 35 percent ($2,106,300) minus a roughly a double-digit cut to DiBella. Both fighters were looking at career-high purses,” outlined Rafael.

“If the IBF declares Triller in default, it will forfeit the 20 percent it deposited with the IBF after the purse bid ($1,203,600).”

He added that both fighters “would split that money between them on a 65-35 split” to Teofimo Lopez.

And then, “Matchroom Boxing, as the under bidder, would have the option to promote the fight for its winning bid.”

Lopez will be hoping this all doesn’t go south. If it does, he stands to lose almost $3 million in purse revenue. Kambosos will drop $1.5m.

If Matchroom decides to pick up the slack, Lopez and Kambosos would still be considerably out of pocket.

What an absolute mess.

I'm glad Kambosos is sticking to his guns, why shouldn't he? He's been messed around something awful, constant date changes could have dire consequences for his performance, Teo was one who probably faked covid to get out original date now seems happy for constant delays yet he's accusing Kambosos of running?

Team Kambosos right here

It's almost as if Triller are clowns🤡

And I’m sick of keep changing the date in the thread.

Just gonna leave it as: Lopez vs. Kambosos - Whenever the F is happens.

Fully agree. They train to peak at a certain point and it’s not easy to keep changing. I hope Kambosos gets paid more - if it happens then some of it may be coming from Lopez.

He’ll get $400k whether he fights or not. If Matchroom take the fight then he’ll be getting the best part of 80% of what he was originally down to get so it’s not like he won’t have a decent bit of cash from it. Even if Matchroom opt out he’ll still get $1.2m after the Top Rank bid.

I just don’t like the idea of fighters being bullied/messed around by promoters - particularly Triller who are showing no respect to the sport we (usually) love.

yea i guess, 400k, plus then should get 1 million from the matchroom split (if matchroom pick it up)... 1.4 million, with the fight nowhere in site. id rather the 2 million on the 16th of october (if his prep will work for it).

I hate triller being fuking knobs about it to, point is i dont think kambosos is going to turn down a real 2 million USD in 2 weeks, so that he can try get 400k deposit (will take court appearences probably), then hope eddie picks it up for the same price (no garrentee seeing as DAZN has openly said they are kinda stepping back on the USA). His absolute best case senario of fighting this is 600K less and a fight by december...

I do think governing bodys should punnish triller (rather than excluding them i think make them pay a 50% deposit).

The $400k won’t take court appearances as it’s already held by the IBF and they’ll be within their rights to issue it to Kambosos.

Kambosos also has a contract for the $2m payday with a fight date for next week which is being reneged upon. The IBF said they could only move the fight if both fighters agreed to it and that clearly isn’t the case but Triller jumped the gun in cancelling MSG and booking Barclays.

The other thing Kambosos wanted was the original funds for the fight to be put in Escrow so he knows he’ll get the money if he fights on the 16th. Not an unreasonable demand really but Triller won’t do it.

The IBF will ban them from future bids if it doesn’t happen but the other governing bodies should do the same thing.

it could still involve courts. IBF wont just give that cash away and risk triller trying to sue them for it. Its a breach of contract most likely sure, but contract law can be a bitch i imagine. Them being able to offer a date 2 weeks later would be seen as reasonable if they had a genuine problem with the date.

Im not saying i know how the case would go, but i know it could get messy. imagine you then lose, owe triller a fight, cancelation fees on venues, plus legal fees, and a years gone by and your carrer is doing nothing. not saying i think thats likely, but would you risk it over 2 weeks? Id love to say id have the balls, but i very much know i would not.

There’s a risk with everything but Kambosos holds all the cards. He’s got a contract to fight on October 4th - not on any other date. It’s not like force majeure or something like Covid - it’s simply they realised it was stupid putting it on a Monday night against the NFL in a week where it’s sport heavy with MLB playoffs and Fury/Wilder.

Triller is the biggest joke. Trying to do Kam dirty.

Then saying they have no plans to hold the fight on Oct. 16, but are planning to hold an event that day.

IBF are supposed to be strict. Surprised they haven’t jumped all over this.

Triller bidding on this fight was the worst thing that could happen.
