Best way for Joshua to bounce back

Post by Cent0089 »

Lets be real, that loss was pretty bad. What should he be doing next ? Wallin-White winner ? Joyce? Dubois ?

I'd say take on the loser of the Fury vs Wilder fight but I'd say he'd lose that too. I'm doubting if he can even beat Whyte now.

I was thinking the same. He's become very tentative. Some fighters never get over their first big loss, especially a stoppage.

However, it's one thing being tentative against Usyk, - who was constantly feinting and moving and keeping him guessing, and another fighting someone like Wilder who doesn;'t give you angles.

What's for sure though, is if you stand and watch and let Wilder punch, you're going to sleep.

I've no idea how he gets his confidence back really,Unlike Lewis when he lost, they were both pretty much the one big shot, but with Joshua he was completely outboxed in one loss and outpunched in the other. If he came back with a few easier options it's lilely his opponent might go for the ko to hit the jackpot.Looks to me like he's damaged beyond repair at the top level, easy to happen when you're also extremely wealthy.

Someone needs to grab him by the shoulders and shake him and tell him some home truths, ditch the yes men, the BLM hangers on. Ditch McCracken and ditch the Johnny Big Bucks act, get hungry again. He needs an opponent who will wind him up and get him very angry, like Lenny Lewis was with Rahman for the rematch. Maybe Whyte can wind him up again. :maybe:

If Wilder wins (which I think he will) move heaven and earth for that fight. I think it's quite winnable for him and if he loses I think it would be easier to deal with than a drubbing from Fury or Usyk.

And if he did win. Retire.

Usky was very smart/crafty making himself a likeable chap, praising Joshua calling him a superstar etc whilst playing himself down.

Joshua seems petrifed of Wilder from what I've seen on recent youtube videos, like he's in awe of him.

Just not sure the desire remains, happy to be proven wrong.

He should have a last hurrah at the Fury Wilder winner.

well he could decide if he wants to focus on being a fighter or a celeb ambassador for boxing and the go to role model for dissafected youth .
If its the former then the only way he beats Usyk is using his strength size and power as many current and retired boxers have said in the aftermath of Saturday , he has to roughhouse him big style as well as showing better movement .
What worked for him in Ruiz 2 will not work second time against the mastery of Usyk.

If Wilder beats Fury I wonder if Fury will come cap in hand for the Joshua fight?

All these fckin rematches are just pushing other fights further away.

He needs to tap back into the destroyer AJ before even thinking about Usyk again. If he can't rekindle, then just bank the rematch dollas and ride off into the sunset. I'd stick him in with Chisora first. That would tell us a lot about where AJ is at.

He shouldn't have to, he's still a major draw.

What would Eddie say if the shoe was on the other foot? Tyson will sell the men easily himself.

AJ and Fury would effectively both be the A side in what would be the biggest UK fight ever .
With or without belts .

No, not if Tyson wins. He's clearly fought the number two in the division. AJ got hammered w

I think he needs to find a trainer who will train him to his strengths, bring out him using his attributes & his physicality and trying to bring a more powerful brawling style out of him

Trying to be the boxer doesnt work for AJ,bar ruiz 2, he is at is best when just going for it

AJ could sell out the MEN vs anyone too. I don't think his loss to Usyk translates to less customers if they make the Fury fight.

In reality if he wants to be Truly no.1 in the division he isn’t going to do it with slick boxing skills is he.
He needs opponents that will bring out the skills he needs to compete differently against boxers like Usyk and fury. That likely means a few brawls!!
But really at this point, I’d choose my health and kids.
He’s highly likely to have maxed his achievements and has generational wealth.
He’ll always be fun to watch so will always draw a crowd which is a double edged sword when making calls on an end to a career.

By no means do I think he’s washed up, just limited and unlikely to beat the very top boxers.

Fight 3 southpaws in a row, the fight usykdecember 2022.

Honestly more than just usyk being brilliant, ah looked clueless vs southpaw feet. Fair enough too he went from Charles Martin, to usyk….

With 3 southpaw camps, and 3 southpaw victories, he could at least take some confedence into the rematch.

Needs to blast more than box too, but nice to not be so clueless In the inevitable boxing exchanges.
