The Rest of the Cruiserweights......

Post by stujones »

Okay so Usyk is Champion of the World now and we have Michael Hunter in the fringes of the top ten (and unbeaten as a Heavyweight) - and yet Hunter wasn't really considered a top cruiserweight. We also had a few years ago Marco Huck running a prime Povetkin very very close.

So question - how would you feel the the rest of the recent batch of nice cruisers could / would do at Heavyweight.

Gassiev
Dorticos
Breidis

Would we have them beating top ten heavyweights - would they be world champion in the Fury / Usyk less division? Or would they be more like Jean Marc Mormeck?

How do you think they would do in the division - personally I think Breidis and Gassiev beats everyone except Usyk and Fury (and I wouldn't put it beyond them vs Fury either) - Dorticos I am less sure off. I would love to see Breidis and Dorticos give it a go though and liven up the division.

Gassiev can be noticeable at HW, but his activity there is low and against the lesser opposition. He wastes his prime years.

Briedis also went to fighting rarely and against nonames, but at CW. And he's ageing. Maybe he simply chose to cash out vs Okolie, which gotta be easier than trying to pick a fight against a HW champion.

Dorticos isn't even that successful at CW to move up.

breides would be a solid top 10, could of even won a title if he was at heavyweight the entire time. gassiev is less good, but has time on his hands. still think he will be top 15 heavy, but i dont think he will win a title. dortic i dont know. Okoli will be a handfull at heavy in a couple of years.

The truth is the best weight restricted 210ish lb fighters in the world are very good. can fill in to 220 easily and give these guys that are use to fighting plodders a nightmare.
