"Why do you deserve an immediate rematch AJ, you were outclassed'

A box of grab bag Monster Munch to the first journalist who asks him that.

His floundering response would be interesting.

Automatic rematches should be banned.

Unless the fight is scored a draw or stopped early because of an accidental cut. In those cases they should always be granted.

Too many fighters tying up belts forever just because they have financial clout.

They has a clause in the conract, simple is that. Nothing is possible to do there, like in the Fury-Wilder case.

Yeh but in a mandatory you have no rights to add clause unless agreed by the other side. You cant just add it in as part of the negotiations?
They must have put an incentive in there for usyk to accept that.
A mandatory goes to the purse bids or a private offer and theres no compulsary clauses no rematchs no options on fighters unless both sides agree it and if they dont the fight still happens because its a mandatory.

So Usyk must have had a reason to agree to one being in there,They couldnt force it upon him like in a voluntary defence

Usyks team would've wanted it too, guaranteed millions in rematch and confident of winning

You are partially right. If the fight goes to purse bid there are not rematch clauses.
But being a mandatory does not mean the fight goes to purse bid. If both parties come to terms on a contract then no purse bid is needed. It happens more times than not with superstar champions like AJ, Canelo etc
So rematches will be around for a long time unless the alphabet groups do like the WBC used to do in the 70's and early 80's and not allow them unless stipulated by the governing bodies.

its in the contract which Usyk agreed to therfore he is entitled to it .

whereas Lomachenko got beat by lopez and it wasnt in the contract so now he goes back down the pecking order and may never get the chance to redeem the loss.

It's one of those rematches where the loser has no chance of reversing the result. Usyk won't mind the money but this should kill a big chunk of Joshua's market value when it's totally clear that cruiserweight Usyks win was no fluke.

I know it's contractual, that's why he has the option of an immediate rematch. The question is a different one, why does he think he deserves that rematch when he lost so conclusively. It wasn't a one punch kayo that could happen to any HW champ (except Oliver McCall & Vitali), it was him being emphatically outmanoeuvred for 36 minutes.

I'd be fascinated to hear Joshua's answer. Even if it was the facile eye injury defence.

Joshua is in it for a money grab. No way can he feel confident in a rematch.
I'd rather him take a couple of tune ups with southpaws and a new trainer. Maybe he can make the needed changes, I doubt it

Just like fat Andy, the real money for Uysk is in the rematch.
He won't get a better payday, at least not for a while. AJ is the biggest money draw in the division, second only to Canelo in the whole sport.
So only a fool would turn that down.

This

Other than Fury, which would be the toughest fight out there, he would earn chump change against Joyce, Wallin, Dubois, Whyte, Parker, Hrgovic etc.

If AJ had turned down the rematch Usyk would have been gutted.

I don't think Fury is that big a draw really. Wilder helped sell this trilogy stateside at least. Fury was struggling to sell medium venues in England and had to go to Germany to sell the Wlad fight.
Also, who wants to sign a deal to fight Fury, given he can cancel, fall off the face of the earth, open a local kebab shop, at the drop of a hat.
Much safer to stick with fighting AJ.

Yeah, it's the biggest payday out there for Usyk.

As i said earlier though, if Joshua loses this one, especially a convincing spanking - I think his days as a top draw are over.

If he does lose, I think he should at least contemplate retirement, he's made a tonne of money, has a promotional company, and probably isn't really hungry enough, why get hurt when you've got so much ahead of you and all the money in the world.

I wouldn't think Usyk has much issue with a rematch. I mean you're gonna make even more money, multiple millions to fight a guy you already beat? I'd be down for that

Other than the Fury/Wilder winner there's really nothing bigger out there for Usyk anyway. So I mean he gets this outta the way, and he's onto that. It's 2 fights. Of course in today's boxing all this may take 2 f*cking years to put together, but if we're lucky maybe only a year and a half

Oh man!
It takes so bloody long for these fights to make. Promoters are confusing "marinating" for hurry up or we will lose interest.

Yeah fights don't need marinating. When the Playoffs are over the NFL doesn't let the Superbowl "Marinate" for a year. They f*cking get on with it because the people who follow the sport know what's up.

Boxing fans know what's up. Boxing fans know what the big fights are. You don't need extra time to sell it to the people that already wanna see it. As far as getting more attention from the casuals. I think you're best bet to do that would be in the few months preceding the fight when they know it is in fact coming up.

I mean hell, Mayweather pretty much built his whole "Money" persona in the buildup to the De La Hoya fight. He didn't start it a year or two prior. He just did it in the immediate buildup to the fight, and it went from there.
