Tyson Fury given all-clear to fight Dillian Whyte if he overcomes Deontay Wilder!

Post by Enlightened-One »

"Tyson Fury given all-clear to fight Dillian Whyte if he overcomes Deontay Wilder"

After his blockbuster bout with Anthony Joshua went up in smoke thanks to Oleksandr Usyk, Tyson Fury could still have an all-British fight for the world title as he has been given the green light to face Dillian Whyte.

Tyson Fury has been given the go-ahead to fight Dillian Whyte in an all-British clash for the world heavyweight title if the Gypsy King defeats Deontay Wilder. Fury faces the American in the third instalment of their trilogy next weekend in Las Vegas.

British boxing fans’ worst fears were realised when Anthony Joshua was defeated by Oleksandr Usyk, with the Brit losing his WBA, WBA, IBF and IBO world titles to the Ukrainian.

Usyk - now a two-division champion - dethroned ‘AJ’ in front of 65,000 fans at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday night, as the former undisputed cruiserweight champion comfortably outclassed Joshua.

Usyk stunned the defending champion on a number of occasions, landing a number of impressing hits to win unanimously on points.

The WBC are now likely to use the opportunity to call forward Whyte, who faces Otto Wallin on October 30, to contend for the title.

Fury's US promoter Bob Arum admitted the bout with Whyte is an enticing one, and teased that the fight could take place on British shores.

“Dillian Whyte is the number one contender, and that could be a big, big fight for Tyson,” Arum told iFL TV.

“Particularly if we held it in the UK, so that’s not out of the question. Dillian Whyte is a capable heavyweight.

“A fight against Tyson Fury or Wilder, whoever wins on October 9th, would be a very interesting fight.

“I think Tyson Fury is the much better heavyweight than Anthony Joshua, but it’s heavyweight and in the heavyweight division everything is possible.”

With a Joshua-Usyk rematch likely to be announced, it could take a while before an undisputed champion can be crowned.

Whyte would therefore be a suitable candidate to face Fury, particularly after he spent over 1,000 days as the number one contender before he was finally named the mandatory challenger.

However, a shock knockout defeat to Alexander Povetkin in August 2020 ruined the 33-year-old’s hopes of earning a title shot. Whyte knocked Povetkin out in four rounds to regain his position.

If Whyte defeats Wallin next month, he will face either Fury or Wilder.

“It’s a really interesting situation,” Whyte’s promoter Eddie Hearn said. “Anything can happen.

“In an ideal world, Tyson Fury beats Deontay Wilder, the mandatory is called for Dillian Whyte.

“Dillian Whyte beats Tyson Fury, AJ beats Usyk, and then we got Whyte against AJ for the undisputed next summer.”

3 years ago I would have voted Fury decision. Today Fury KO/TKO.
Whyte has lost a bit of his punch resistance lately.
Well that's how I see it.
Fury I think would always be a little too tricky and unpredictable for Whyte, and now I think Tyson could stop him.

Hearn's AJ dreams are caput. Usyk is not going to show up fat and slow and gift him back the title. Usyk has climbed to the top already at CW and never lost a bit of hunger. That lion is coming to win again and AJ is F'd.

If AJ wants to fight after that he can still likely make some fights and earn at the top level of the division doing it but he is never going to be the mega star he was tried to be portrayed as. He has tons of flaws and lots of guys can beat him on any given night.

He aint no Tyson Fury :shame:

This aint AJ....this is Tyson Fury. He can name them 3 or 4 fighters out and deliver the goods on his end. The only threat to the Whyte fight is Mr. Whyte himself when he gets in the ring with Wallin.

Fury vs Wallin 2 would be a nicely earned and interesting rematch if Wallin rips the face off Dillian Whyte.

In Vegas of course.... :brick:

He KOd him the 1st time, but ref was incompetant. 2nd fight was filled with fouls, headlocks, rabbit punches. Fury knew he got away with one, because he tried to get out of the 3rd.
Wilder will destroy Fury in this fight, if Fury shows up.

Wilders finally got a trainer smart enough to attack Furys body, and let his hands go. The first bullrush and rabbit punch by Fury will result in a monster punch below the belt. Fury, of course, will have his trunks hiked up to his armpits. 😂

No, I'll give the 2nd to Fury. No excuses, other than a dirty, poorly reffed fight.

In general wilder is awful. One of the least technically sound hw title holders ever

But he hits really hard.

So fury should beat the hell out of him again but wilder alwqys has a chance

Fury beats wilder again and then Whyte gets his long awaited title fight at last .

Fury likely to take the win vs Whyte on points after an ugly wrestling contest .

I agree. Whyte has lost a bit of punch resistance and I'm pretty sure he won't even see the KO coming

Fury is more likely to beat Wilder, than Whyte is likely to beat Wallin. The show can be stolen for Whyte. But apparently there's a rematch clause for Whyte-Wallin.

those horrible, horrible referees, right? how he dares to even start a count?

should've just waived it right off and kept fury from even trying to get up like they did with ortiz in both fights.

it wasn't like ortiz was hit with a precise punch or really knocked out. just dazed and pushed to the ground by wilder's spastic onslaught, but what the heck does it matter, right?

just waive that shit off, ignore your duty to count, kneel right above him, literally hold him down, hinder any attempt to get up, theatrically waive over the doctor cause wilder hits sooo damn fvckin' hard.

ortiz was lucky to be alive, right?

doesn't matter he wasn't out from the punch for even a second, ready to shake it off & get up, but what does he need a count for?

Occasionally folks like Usyk may throw a spanner in the carefully planned works, but boxing remains primarily a business today.

Whatever we might say, we'll all be watching next weekend.

I'd fancy Whyte against either Fury or Wilder.

Wilder v Whyte could be one hell of a matchup if Fury decides to let himself get sparked out next Saturday.

It's all Fury's to lose against a very average boxer that's hardly won a single (non-knockout) round in years and years.

Fṛḁռk Wḁṛṛȅռ has today confirmed that Tyson Fury’s next bout will definitely be staged in the UK, because ‘The Gypsy King’ has ran out of viable American opponents to face.

Dillian Whyte is likely to be the front-runner to become Fury’s next opponent to face (due to being the WBC’s interim champion), because AJ is already committed to the Usyk rematch and I suspect the WBC won’t allow Tyson to perform a voluntary defence.

Fṛḁռk Wḁṛṛȅռ even mentioned Dillian Whyte's name as the most commercially viable opponent.

It’s kind of weird how things pan out, because Anthony Joshua’s upset defeat to Usyk has done more for Dillian’s career than most of his high-profile victories.
