Its amateur hour at Sky with this Boxxer link up. What has Boxxer/Ben Shalom done to be Sky's boxing promoter? Doesn't even do interviews ?

It's very strange from Sky, they seem to think they can basically do it all themselves and be the de facto promoters.

As this week has shown they can't. They pumped this show up for weeks on their channels and it's now an absolute mess. Nevermind the poor sods who bought tickets.
Sky are probably saving ton of money linking with Boxxer..

How much would they pay for 18 Top Rank shows per year ? TR didn’t have any UK deal or coverage.

Eddie will be laughing.
I take your point but DAZN has hardly set the boxing world alight . I wonder how many subscribers they have now ? Must be losing money by the day .
Totally agree that Hennessy's ability to put on smaller shows make him an ideal candidate for shows like this .

I don't see why he was allowed to weigh-in before being medically cleared.

Shambolic really at this level. Sky looking like amateurs here.

Sky are the broadcaster so it’s not up to them to make sure things are sorted. The buck stops with Boxxer and Wasserman.

Beyond a shambles - exposing the inexperienced promoters who are clearly out of their depth .
Amazing that Sky should choose Boxxer in the first place :TU:

Who else really is there in the UK?

Frank is tied with BT.
Mick Hennessy has decent guys but we need some free to air boxing and he’s the man for that.

Hobson and a few others already started FightZone, but come on, they’re not top promoters are they?

Boxxer has been around a few years. They’ve had cards on CH5, BT as well.

Was probably a cheap deal for Sky.

For me they should have given the job/opportunity to an experienced promoter and when it comes to knowing the game and developing new talent that’s crucial to Sky there’s no one better than Steve Wood and his VIP promotions.
His work behind the scenes so often goes unrecognised but his success for developing new talent over a number of years now , I would suggest is second to none .

Sky should have backed Matchroom - the money from 6-7 PPV’s alone almost paid for Boxing itself.

I’m sure they said Boxing was one of the sports that actually turned a profit.

The DAZN card next Sat would have been a cracking Sat Night fight night - but Sky wouldn’t put money up for that sort of card.

As you say Boxxer is cheap option.

I really think Hearn was more or less set on DAZN anyway. He probably regrets it a little who knows. But he has time.

And yes, boxing was the only sport that made them money and not just the other way around, all due to PPV.

Hopefully Eubank pops up on the Newcastle card in a couple of weeks time, no reason why not really, neither fighter got paid tonight so the kitty should be ok to pay them to fight in Newcastle.

Not that he would be having a meaningful fight but it brightens up a several hour show.

Good suggestion. If they can afford him I guess.
Don't know about transfer of funds between shows, sounds complicated :maybe:
