i didn't get the vibe it was prelude to the towel being thrown in, though. i don't recall people waving a fvcking towel round in the air like a slingshot before chucking the fkin thing in.

looked to me like a signal for something. like they were giving the signal to the timekeeper to end the fight so their boy wouldn't take any more of a pasting

Maybe Joshua's corner was simply joking around, guys there were slaping each other with towels and not giving a f*ck about what happening in the ring.

not crazy one bit given they witnessed the most traumatic effect the ruiz beatdown of 2 years ago on their fighter had.gregregegg wrote: ↑02 Oct 2021, 01:37looks like they were going to but never did. that said a ref sees that they are within there rights to stop it id say.
Would of been a ballsy towl throw with a few seconds to go, no knock down, 3 belts on the line and although we all agree usyk won and most think fairly wide, its a UK fight vs a mega A side. when the fight finnished even though i had it 9-2 and an even i still thought there was about a 25% chance that AJ would win on the cards, so throwing a towl with 3 seconds left seems crazy.
still has, having left a gunshy power puncher, literally afraid of pulling the trigger, incapable of letting his hands go into more than a single hard right hand.
joshua is goin thru the motions, guess he's also told that that's enough with judges biased heavily in his favour. sure is against the likes of pulev.
he's unable to overcome his natural phlegma even and even more so when under heavy fire (against klitschko there was that spark that lit up into a flame when under fire, well... it's gone).
i didn't see joshua throw a single uppercut with the intention to catch the feinting ulrainian right thru the middle.
how come?
you gotta commit into an uppercut to do damage, that commitment if u miss, leaves u open for a quick counterpunching attack.
joshua is simply not confident enuff anymore to commit into a real attack, afraid of getting rattled in return, he's a fighter when buzzed, he's lost. there's a difference between awareness and fear.
first thing u notice on joshua when he get's hit solid, he starts to smile. out of insecurity.
joshua is a quality heavyweight still, mostly due to his impressive physique, clean technique in execution of the basics and (literally)ONE punch power, but i don't think he'll ever be able to overcome that fear of the horror he experienced in ruiz 1, where he lost all awareness of his surroundings.
he has to overcome that issue to give the handful of real top men a real fight where he simply takes his chances, to win.
it's a thing in his head. it's all too human, i doubt he can shake it off.

Never go full EO man, never.Cyclops wrote: ↑02 Oct 2021, 03:03It's mildly annoying that I hear these little conspiracy theories about the bell being rung early and now the towel because I bet on Usyk by late stoppage. I was happy because my man in the fight won and the bet was only a bit of fun, but I could be crowing like EO is now about what a boxing genius I am and how much cash I'd made with my brilliantly accurate prediction.gregregegg wrote: ↑02 Oct 2021, 01:37looks like they were going to but never did. that said a ref sees that they are within there rights to stop it id say.

Everyone has different skin.
Some people mark up way more than others do.
It may have been just 4 punches which caused them bruises.
How about we look at video evidence?after the fight. Who was running around and who was concussed leaning over his corner with his whole team worried?
How about that for evidence?
Put some respect on Usyk’s name.
- While your efficacy is without question, your efficiency is sorely lacking. Sorely.
What, two dozen stitches in the upper orbital ain't a marking, it's a cut that could've stopped the fight, so credit Usyk cut man. Two cuts below the eye prob stitched up by now after their rush to get Usyk out for the press conference without looking like Frankenstein. The only "marking" is the abrasion on the nose that will scab up and be gone inside a week.

See what AJ did to the Ruiz mug gushing geysers in winning that fight in spades. It ain't a stretch to think outboxing Usyk was the plan and it was working great until AJ's 9th round eyeball got popped as I noted.
And as previously mentioned, I scored the end of the fight close with lot's of even rounds that typically go to the money/hometown fighter, ie AJ, but in this case went for Usyk, so let's look at his last fight with Chisora, 347-338 points, a mere one point difference out of 685 points cast compared to AJ/Usyk, but wait, wait, remember! Post Chisora Usyk was too small, too weak to have a chance against elite heavies. One point later, now he's master class, this the prevailing "dialogue" with boxrec "experts."
Let's face it, the majority of the forum is simply incapable of understanding just how stupid they sound. Know that I have always rated both of these guys highly, and end of the day, that's the way they go down in history if they continue down this path with a timely retirement.
Compare Wilder/Fury low hanging fruit past it's expiration date. Hey, it's all good after Deyonce's dented noggin and Fury's blubberized Corona that they can fight for peanuts with most of the undercard better than what they supply. Pick it fast and eat it on the spot before it melts into glop.

Is it me or was Joshua being just little too friendly and polite against Usyk? It seemed weird to me. Usyk just mocked him, giving him his belts back for a second, while Joshu just let him do that. How respectful can you be, your a heavyweight fighter not a puppy!
I always liked Lennox Lewis attitude. He still carries it.

In the dressing room?
Boxers do that.. they return the belts and then the orgs give the new champion brand new belts.

Ok, didn't know about the belts. I stand corrected on that issue.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑03 Oct 2021, 07:37When did he give his belts back?cultus wrote: ↑03 Oct 2021, 06:52 Is it me or was Joshua being just little too friendly and polite against Usyk?
