Sergey Kuzmin vs. Kevin Johnson - November 5, 2021 (OFF)
Sergey Kuzmin vs. Kevin Johnson is Set For Nov. 5 in Sochi
Former heavyweight contender and ex-European amateur champion Sergey Kuzmin (15-2, 11 KOs) looks to come back to the winning column after two consecutive losses, when he returns on November 5 at the WOW Arena in Krasnaya Polyana, Sochi, Russia.
Kuzmin’s opponent is a familiar name for boxing fans.
The tough Russian will face Kevin “The Kingpin” Johnson, once a world-title challenger (who went distance with a prime version of Vitali Klitschko in 2009). Johnson will aim for the upset in a fight that is scheduled for ten rounds.
Kuzmin, 34, was on a good run (including wins over fighters like Malcolm Tann, David Price and Joey Dawejko) before running into Michael Hunter and then losing a close one to Martin Bakole in a clash which took place last December.
Johnson, 42 and a veteran of 54 fights (going 35-18-1, with 19 KOs), has been on a downslide ever since his loss to Tyson Fury in a 2012 WBC eliminator.
Still, he managed to score some upset wins during this span, including stoppages of 34-2-1 Francesco Pianeta and – most recently – of 29-1 former cruiserweight beltholder Yoan Pablo Hernandez, who was attempting a comeback at heavyweight, in 2020.
The show will be promoted by the Rus’ company.

I wonder if Kingpin will try to win this fight. seems a bit out of his reach, but mean, mabey its just doable enough that he will swing back.

Don't know why they still saying he went 12 round with a prime Vitali.. it was 12 years ago.
Surely that doesn't weigh anything today.

the crowd goes mild

Probably a necessary step for Kuzmin, who tried a higher level and failed to succeed there. A fight like that or two of such and then he should step up for an ultimate cash out, as he's 34 year old and has nothing to lose.

An improvment.... Mabey. Will probably throw a punch at least, but doubt he lasts as long. Lucky to see round 3 in this one.DrDuke wrote: ↑15 Nov 2021, 03:12Nope, Kuzmin fights on Nov 26 instead, against this guy https://boxrec.com/en/proboxer/818588

Igor fought to survive on the backfoot. Kuzmin knocked him down in the middle of the fight and at the very end of the 10th round, after what the bout was stopped, although Igor had been able to get up.
