I don't know why but I think Plant would surprise us with his boxing skills and with his conditioning.

I want to say upset of the year.
I don't mind Plant at all, but his title run has been lacklustre to say the least. He has fought no one that would help prepare for Canelo.
It has been a belt hoarding exercise until it can be offered up for $$$

Thats true but maybe Plant is the type of the fighter that performs better if his opponent is a top fighter/name.

Boxing does throw up some out there results sometimes.apollo creed wrote: ↑05 Oct 2021, 04:06Thats true but maybe Plant is the type of the fighter that performs better if his opponent is a top fighter/name.
Like I said, I don't mind Plant at all. He has skills for sure, but is so green at this level of champion vs champion.
I'd love someone to put Canelo in deep water like GGG did in the first fight, thing is- Canelo rises to challenges like you think Plant can.

It wouldn't surprise me if Plant ouboxes Canelo, but it would shock me if he got the decision.
Canelo has had trouble with slick boxers in the past, but always has a huge advantage on the cards. No way Plant wins unless he clearly takes 9-10 rounds. Even then he might get a draw. We have all seen it before.

Boxing is known as the “theatre of the unexpected” for a reason, because upsets happen – “that's why they fight the fights!”apollo creed wrote: ↑05 Oct 2021, 03:42 I don't know why but I think Plant would surprise us with his boxing skills and with his conditioning.
Even though Caleb Plant is a world-class operator, he deserves to be considered a big underdog, because his resume is very weak in comparison to Canelo’s.
I think I’d be surprised, rather than “shocked”, to see Plant scoring the upset.
The betting odds for the Canelo-Plant bout are similar to the Pacquiao-Ugas fight.
The betting websites give Plant a slightly better chance to beat Canelo than they gave Chavez Jr.
Personally-speaking, even if Plant beats Canelo, I reckon Yordenis Ugas' victory over Manny Pacquiao would still be favoured to be awarded the upset of the year.

problem is again that he has to knock beef boi out CLEAN.
each and every round will be judged heavily in favour of alvarez. plant could WIN ALL 12 ROUNDS. IF HE DOESN'T WIN THEM ALL DECISIVELY WITHOUT LEAVING ANY ROOM FOR ANY 'Discussion' or CONTROVERSY, HE WON'T GET THE DECISION.
so much about 'even playfield'.
may the better man win.

I wouldn't be shocked, as I have been considering Plant to be the worst matchup for Canelo stylistically (lower than in LHW). Plant a slick boxer, but he's unproved, so you can tell for sure, how exactly good or bad he is. If he's good enough, he has the style to outbox Canelo.
Re: If Plant upsets Canelo, it will be a big shock for you ? Plant looks in very good shape and he's coming to win
It would be definitely shocker. Plant has some sneaky boxing skills, but that would not work against Alvarez. Actually i was fan of Plant, until he got belt. Fights with Lee, Feigenbutz and Truax are pure trash. Fight with Uzcategui was pretty entertaining

Can't see Plant getting anything out of this, Canelo is too big to fail.

Ugas over a 42yr old Pac with a 2 year absence from the ring was not a big upset. It may have upset Pac fans, but Plant over Canelo would be far and away a bigger upset. Not even close.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑05 Oct 2021, 07:10Boxing is known as the “theatre of the unexpected” for a reason, because upsets happen – “that's why they fight the fights!”apollo creed wrote: ↑05 Oct 2021, 03:42 I don't know why but I think Plant would surprise us with his boxing skills and with his conditioning.

In terms of betting odds, coupled with the predictions made by boxing insiders, pundits and this forum, Ugas’ victory over Pacquiao was definitely a huge upset.Bandog wrote: ↑06 Oct 2021, 12:37Ugas over a 42yr old Pac with a 2 year absence from the ring was not a big upset.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑05 Oct 2021, 07:10Boxing is known as the “theatre of the unexpected” for a reason, because upsets happen – “that's why they fight the fights!”apollo creed wrote: ↑05 Oct 2021, 03:42 I don't know why but I think Plant would surprise us with his boxing skills and with his conditioning.

For sure, a few people, like myself, believed the Cuban stood a decent chance of scoring the upset, but we were amongst the overwhelming minority.
Dishonestly boasting wisdom based on hindsight won’t erase the historical fact that Yordenis Ugas scored a massive upset over Manny Pacquiao.

Hindsight, history, is what matters in terms of upsets you idiot. Imagine if one of the top heavys beat 42 or 43 yr old Ortiz? Pac hadn't fought in 2 years, and most thought Ugas beat Porter. Only to Pac nut huggers was it an upset. Canelo is at the top of his game and #1 pfp. Plant is unproven. Use your head for once and admit you're wrong.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑07 Oct 2021, 06:20In terms of betting odds, coupled with the predictions made by boxing insiders, pundits and this forum, Ugas’ victory over Pacquiao was definitely a huge upset.Bandog wrote: ↑06 Oct 2021, 12:37Ugas over a 42yr old Pac with a 2 year absence from the ring was not a big upset.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑05 Oct 2021, 07:10

The overwhelming consensus pre-fight prediction was that Manny Pacquiao would beat Yordenis Ugas.Bandog wrote: ↑07 Oct 2021, 06:55Hindsight, history, is what matters in terms of upsets you idiot. Nah EO. Come on now. Putting odds aside, which obviously helps my point and may be unfair to do in this case, but if Plant is to defeat Canelo then we are talking about an enormous upset unlike we’ve seen since Tyson/Buster.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑05 Oct 2021, 07:10Boxing is known as the “theatre of the unexpected” for a reason, because upsets happen – “that's why they fight the fights!”apollo creed wrote: ↑05 Oct 2021, 03:42 I don't know why but I think Plant would surprise us with his boxing skills and with his conditioning.

Or maybe Lewis/Rahman would be a better example. My point is that we’re talking about THE top dog in Boxing. Think about the last 20-30 years and who the P4P guys were. I can’t really come up with an instance in which the top guy lost vs. a solid quality contender. I think that if it should happen, it will clearly be upset of the year and possibly the last decade.
With that said, Plant’s in for a rough night. Unless he’s got the heart of a Lion, Plant just finishing the night on his feet will be very surprising to me. It’s just too much to ask.

Re: If Plant upsets Canelo, it will be a big shock for you ? Plant looks in very good shape and he's coming to win
Hey,not for nothing, But, Yeah,.. Ugas beating Pac didn't send any Shock-Waves into my mind and soul. My take on it was just simply and blatantly That, Ugas beat an Old Man. Pac became old overnight, just as the common saying/slogan goes. It was Really No Big Deal whatsoever when reasoning from that type of common sensical perspective.
But now,if we're talking about the scenario of Plant prevailing over Canelo, then this is a whole nuther form of Shock Treatment. It would most definitely be a Mind=Blown Scenario/Reaction, at least amongst True Boxing fans with at least decent overall knowledge of the sport of boxing.

If Plant upsets Alvarez, the shock would kill me.

Here's some close comparisons that come to mind:
Hopkins - Taylor
Pacquiao - Horn
Lomachenko - Lopez
Kiltschko - Fury
Mosley - Forrest
Lewis - McCall
Lewis - Rahman
