Hughie Fury: It is My Destiny To Be at The Top, I Believe I'll Be Champion!

Heavyweight contender Hughie Fury confidently believes that he will capture a world title by the end of his pro career.

Fury is scheduled to return to the ring on October 16, against veteran Christian Hammer at Utilita Arena in Newcastle on October 16.

Fury's cousin, Tyson Fury, holds the WBC title. And Anthony Joshua has the WBO, IBF, IBO, WBA world titles.

Fury has won two fights in a row since losing a twelve round decision to Alexander Povetkin in August of 2019.

He hopes to topple Hammer in dominant fashion to build his case for a major fight in 2022.

"This team will put me where I need to be," said Fury. "Before I couldn't get the fights. Now I believe I can get them.

"Straight away with Hammer, I said: 'These are the fights I want'. He is a game fighter. I love a fight, I'm not afraid of any challenge, I will jump in the ring with anyone. I could have had easier fights but I want someone who will fight back and give me a challenge.

"I believe I will be the champion of the world. It is my destiny to be at the top. To become a world champion is all that's in my mind. Whoever has got a belt, I want those belts. I will get through this fight, get into a mandatory position, and whoever has got a belt at the time, I'll take.

"If you can fight, you can fight. I'm not afraid to fight anyone. It's not about records - it's about learning. Before, it was a boy against men. Now I've come into myself and it will be a different story. Get the right fights, I don't care who it is, and get those belts."

well i think this is come of the man come of the hour for hughie now , he gets a hard time though he has fought decent opponents and lost on tight decisions to good fighters , only 26 now so he fought grown men as a kid so he has balls never been ko has a chin, its the agressive side we have been waiting to see from him , going at a man putting it on him front foot letting his hands go , i think ko win here for hughie and gets his career moving again

Ritson Admits Philadelphia Street Fight Legend, Who Has Faced Terence Crawford, Will Be “A Hard Night’s Work” In Newcastle On October 16

Newcastle fight hero Lewis ‘The Sandman’ Ritson (21-2, 12 KO’s) will face former world title challenger Henry ‘Hank’ Lundy (31-9, 14 KO’s) on the high-profile BOXXER event taking place at the Utilita Arena in his home city on Saturday 16th October.

Airing live and exclusively on Sky Sports, the action-packed card features former WBA Intercontinental Champion Ritson plus heavyweight contender Hughie Fury (25-3-0, 14 KO’s), who faces the dangerous Christian Hammer (26-7-0, 16 KO’s), and WBO World Middleweight Champion Savannah Marshall (10-0-0, 8 KO’s) who defends her title against unbeaten challenger Lolita ‘The Black Diamond’ Muzeya (16-0-0, 8 KO’s).

Ritson’s fanatical fans have long-awaited his return to the ring and are expected to turn out in force to support him for this clash with the tough American who has faced some of the world’s best, including pound-for-pound great Terrance Crawford.

Fighting out of the legendary boxing city of Philadelphia, Hammerin’ Hank was a renowned street fighter before being advised to turn his skills to boxing, where he has earned a solid reputation as a hard, no-nonsense warrior.

In May this year he challenged WBC Silver Light-Welterweight Champion Jose Zepeda and took world #2-ranked the distance despite coming in on short notice, giving Zepeda one of the toughest fights of his career and rocking him badly at one point.

The 28-year-old Ritson, who lost an IBF world title eliminator to Jeremias Ponce in June, can’t wait to hear the inimitable ‘Ritson Roar’ as he heads into his eight-round super-lightweight battle with Lundy and believes it will lift him to peak performance levels.

“It’s great to be back live on Sky Sports and in my home city and I can’t wait to hear the roar of the crowd,” said Ritson.

“I wanted to come back with a test and Lundy will definitely provide that. Apart from Ponce, he will be the hardest fighter that I’ve fought. We got offered a fighter a few levels below Lundy but I wanted a challenge and to put a great fight on for the fans.

“Lundy is a very dangerous opponent. He gave Crawford a good go, he’s only been stopped twice – by Crawford and John Molina – and he’s just fought the world number two in his last fight [Zepeda], took him to points and wobbled the lad quite badly.

“It’s definitely going to be a hard night’s work on October 16 but we wanted to jump straight back into the mix with an opponent who is very experienced at world level. I didn’t want to offer the fans an underwhelming fight which would have them giving me stick on social media!

“It’s going to be tough night but we’re looking at a Ritson victory.”

mmm. I quite like the fight. Whilst Lundy has lost 3 of his last 5 they’ve been in decent company. Not sure if he’s ever fought at 140 though or whether he’s known about the fight before now but could have been a lot worse.

I thought they were looking to squeeze Eubank Jr on here?

Mark Dickinson makes his pro debut on the undercard. He’s got loads of potential and is the nephew of Travis and Jon Lewis. Hopefully they show it.
