World Boxing News have some of the legal points submitted by Triller - it’s an interesting read. Doesn’t change the fact they had a signed deal for the 4th and didn’t deliver on it.

I can see this rumbling on for a while longer.

The fact that all the info I read is coming from triller suggests that there's not much actual journalism going on. I know that's shocking with fat Dan involved.

I’m surprised the IBF are taking as long as they are making their position clear.

They can’t just bury their heads in the sand though. At the first sign of Triller looking to change the date from the 4th the IBF should have been all over it.

I hope the IBF can sue triller also - arguably a bigger black mark for the sport than the Holyfield debacle. Hopefully the all the Holyfield debacle will do is stop old guys step into the ring and stop the silly appeal of these exhibition style contests. This though not only leaves no boxer, manager or sanctioning body trusting triller but potentially any "new" promoter.

Not only have Lopez and Kambosos have lost money on earnings (the winner could have a second fight after the original purse bids date), they look like they are going to lose "millions" on a pay day as matchroom's bid was a lot less.

What is stopping me putting in a huge bid for a poor fight in the hope I can fork up the cash by fight time.

Bob Arum talks Triller’s mishandling of Teofimo Lopez vs George Kambosos Jr

Arum thinks sanctioning bodies to put some limitations on who can bid for title fights.

Top Rank promoter Bob Arum took some time to share his thoughts on all the fallout behind Triller’s failed plans to stage a lightweight title fight between Teofimo Lopez and George Kambosos. Arum says all of the postponements only for Triller to eventually pull the plug on promoting the fight hasn’t been good for the sport. Instead he says he’ll pitch to organizations the idea of not letting just any company participate in purse bids going forward.

“It is really a disservice to boxing,” Arum said. “I mean, Teofimo and Kambosos saw all of this money and they were happy when the purse bid came in. But you have a company in Triller that didn’t know anything about promoting boxing and they were sort of, I think, a fly-by-night outfit and I am going to lobby all of these organizations to only allow the promoters in a purse bid are promoters who have done at least one championship fight in that organization, so at least they have some basis for what to do and what the rules are and so forth.

“And that’s not to cut down bidding. I mean, a lot of companies have done at least one fight and they can bid. But if they just come out of nowhere, put a couple of dollars down, say they’re promoters, and then put in a bid — you get what you got with this whole thing with Lopez and Kambosos.”

It’s an interesting idea from Arum, I’d say, but there’s a bit of a catch-22 in the premise being that a new company could never promote their first championship fight if having to had promoted a championship fight in the past (in order to bid on one) is a prerequisite. Seems anti-competitive to me. Anyway, we’ll see if his lobbying even goes anywhere, but color me skeptical.

asked this on current scene too but interested to know how the laws might vary....

now that eddie has the power , If in theroy eddie said to teo "sign to fight haney after and ill put this fight in vegas as a reward, otherwise im putting it in Australia" would that be allowed (or even legal)....

It wouldn’t be allowed I don’t think as Teo has a contract with Too Rank so only way he fights Haney is with the approval of Bob or through a purse bid.
