joshua and joyce fought (KO 1)?

their am records on boxrec says they fought in 2011, joshua won ko (rsch) 1

did this actually happen, or wrong joe joyce?

Yeah I mentioned this before on the forum but no one knew really. I've never heard about them boxing, Joyce was on the UK team with Joshua and they sparred including Joe admitting he knocked AJ down (who hasn't.? )

Last time I looked this up on Boxrec it had it as Joyce's debut, but Boxrec's amateur records aren't bulletproof. I'm more inclined to believe Joyce's version, where he'd fought before and then lost against AJ. At least he says he lost.

Interesting that even Slow Joe, back then as a rank novice, knew that to fight a southpaw you have to try and keep your lead foot on the outside of your opponent. AJ didn't seem to know that two weeks ago.

This was at Dagenham Park school sports hall, in the London ABA’s, Joyce did win a prelim before which he won on points and remember not being massively impressed.
I actually left before Joshua fought Joyce, now it would likely fill Wembley.

Thanks - Joyce was stopped a few times in the amateurs early on. He is a slow starter mind and you could see him shipping a few shots then getting amateur stopped.
