Hearn: Khan, Brook Looking To Make The Most Possible For Their Fight

A showdown between British rivals Amir Khan and Kell Brook could be on the horizon.

Promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom is attempting to seal the deal on the contest.

Should everything come together, the two former would champions could potentially collide on a date in December in Saudi Arabia.

Over the years, there were several failed attempts to make a Khan-Brook encounter.

Khan, 34-years-old, has been out of the ring since July of 2019. And Brook, 35-years-old, last fought in December when he was knocked out by WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford.

Khan held a meeting with Hearn on Tuesday, to discuss the details of a showdown with Brook.

Hearn indicates that both boxers are looking to sell the fight to the highest bidder.

The Matchroom boss has an exclusive content deal with the DAZN streaming service - but there could be a scenario where the fight heads elsewhere, like Sky Sports.

“I would do the fight, it is still a great fight, but it is not the fight it once was. It’s an auction with two guys who want to make as much money as they can. I want to do the fight but only at the right price," Hearn said to The Sun.

“Both guys see this as their last fight so whoever pays the most money (promoter/broadcaster) will get the fight. DAZN has an idea of what we think the fight is worth, I think Sky would just put it on pay-per-view and that could be risky.”

In a recent interview, Brook explained that he still believes a contest with Khan will be a major event.

“Aside from AJ vs Tyson Fury, it is still the biggest fight in British boxing. And I still think everyone will get very excited about this fight," Brook said.

“I have always wanted that fight and I think he finally wants it now too. I have done everything in my career and this grudge fight will be the icing on the cake. It will happen, it has to.”

Last time I put up a Khan/Brook thread.

Hearn sounds like a right hypocrite..

About Sky putting it on PPV would be risk..

Whereas, Whyte was slapping anything on PPV.

I guess he means it would be a financial risk for Sky gambling on generating massive sales. Khan and Brook will be looking for huge guaranteed purses before PPV upsides.

Even after Khan signed with Matchroom, a few years back. Wouldn’t have minded then.

Amir Khan secures showdown with fellow Brit Kell Brook

AFTER talks with promoter Eddie Hearn, Amir Khan is all set to take on old rival Kell Brook later this year in a bout.

Both the boxers had earlier failed to agree terms for a bout but have finally decided to meet in the ring, probably eyeing for a December cash-out clash in Saudi Arabia.

Reports suggest, Khan, 34, met with Hearn on Tuesday (17) and agreed for the “Battle of Britain”, with his fellow northerner.

Hearn told the Sun: “I would do the fight, it is still a great fight, but it is not the fight it once was.

“It’s an auction with two guys who want to make as much money as they can. I want to do the fight but only at the right price.

“Both guys see this as their last fight so whoever pays the most money (promoter/broadcaster) will get the fight.

“DAZN has an idea of what we think the fight is worth, I think Sky would just put it on pay-per-view and that could be risky.”

Khan’s last bout was in 2019 where he won against Billy Dib, while on the other hand Brook’s recent fight in November was a stoppage loss to WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford

Both the former world champions now in their 30s and past their prime powers, but Khan says this is the right time for the fight to happen.

The Olympic silver medalist Khan told Sky Sports: “I think now is the right time to make that fight happen with Kell. We both have been world champions. We’re both British and in the north as well.”

Brook added: “Aside from AJ vs Tyson Fury, it is still the biggest fight in British boxing. And I still think everyone will get very excited about this fight.”

Honestly I still think this is the second biggest fight in the UK - when you think this seems to be this niche for celebrity / has been boxers.

Amir Khan accuses rival Kell Brook of looking for way out of UK fight talks

Amir Khan has accused Kell Brook of moving the goalposts again as the pair continue to thrash out a deal for a long-winded welterweight collision.

Khan took to social media to reveal that Brook can no longer make 147 pounds. That “The Special One” aims to seal the deal at a couple of pounds north of that marker.

It’s no secret that Brook has struggled at the welterweight limit for a while now.

For his last bout with Terence Crawford, Brook was able to boil down. But the Sheffield man’s three previous contests came at 150 pounds and over.

When losing to Crawford via stoppage, Brook stated the weight was the difference. It seems he doesn’t want the same thing to happen against Khan.

Outlining the situation as it stands, Khan said: “Kell said he would fight at 147. I agreed. Now Kell wants 149. Then he wants 149.5.

“Is he even serious about wanting the fight?”

Judging by Khan’s Sky Sports tagging in his post, too, BOXXER would be the favorites to stage the contest. Brook and Khan no longer seem as close to Eddie Hearn as they once were.

Negotiations will continue regarding what could be a December 2021 clash. If talks continue to stall, early next year might be a more likely outcome.

It would be really good if nothing more was said about this fight, until it was actually done.

Tired of announcements about announcements and negotiations. It has been going on for so long, it is hard to give anything credibility.

Give us a nice surprise for once British Boxing. Just shut up until you actually have something to say.....:

But the fact they have wittered on about this fight for years and years, and still are!
They don't deserve our money to cash out because this fight should have happened last decade.
Time to punish the ducking bastards. Just because they don't have anything else to do except blather on at each other, teasing a fight the boxing public mentally shelved years ago.
If you want past prime premadonnas to fight, go ask Oscar and Bernard to get it on..
