Dillian Whyte vs. Otto Wallin - Who wins?
Re: Dillian Whyte vs. Otto Wallin | DAZN - 30 October 2021
I'm picking Wallin on the back of him lasting with Fury, and Whytes punch resistance. Also I'm not a Whyte fan.

Think whyte has made a mistake in picking wallin and will be found out
Re: Dillian Whyte vs. Otto Wallin | DAZN - 30 October 2021
Wallin's still a bit of an enigma, isn't he? The Breazeale result is a bit misleading on paper isn't it, because it went 12 it implies that it was competitive when it wasn't really: Big Dom ended up with one shut eye and was being lit up throughout, and I didn't score it but it seemed like a near shut-out. How much you can read into that I don't know, because Breazeale has always been just a very big man wheeled out as a boxer and gets beaten up by anybody who's any good. He didn't stop coming though and put pressure on, threw big looping shots, and so in that respect he's good preparation for Whyte who'll only do the same, just in a better fashion. The question is, can Wallin fight better than he has in his defining fights: Fury and Breazeale? I suspect he can.
Meanwhile, Dillian seems to be sleeping on him a little bit and seemed horrified by Usyk's battering of AJ. All this "he'll be alright if he puts it on him" stuff doesn't necessarily work if you're up against a matador, and Wallin seems to be a fighter who is able to fight on the back foot and still hurt a charging opponent. If he IS actually any good, then Whyte is made for him. He also showed a decent chin as Breazeale did land some good shots, to no noticeable effect. But then Whyte is much better and if Breazeale can land heavy then so can Dil. Dil doesn't really punch as hard as he makes out though, does he? I'm not going to count the power he showed in his last two fights because Povetkin was so far gone, the best KO he's had is Chisora and anybody else half decent he's been in with has gone the distance.
So f*ck it, I'll throw it out there and say Wallin on points: it keeps the division lively, doesn't it?

Re: Dillian Whyte vs. Otto Wallin | DAZN - 30 October 2021
I say this a fair bit but it’s all about stances here., we can compare attributes, achievements and styles but the reality is the big question that no one knows (I guess those present at sparing might) Can Whyte Fight A Southpaw?
It’s by far the biggest unknown, if you have never boxed a real southpaw then that changes everything. we saw how clueless AJ was vs usyk (because he went from journyment to master in his southpaw progression), now whyte is attempting to go from a tomato can to a decent operator. (his best southpaw win is some 10-70 guy many years ago)
I personally think all these boxers that have not fought any southpaws should just be open, admit they haven’t and ask for a couple of southpaw tune ups befor any real southpaw fights.
Aj should of fought wallin befor usyk in my opinion.
Whyte should probably fight a lesser southpaw befor wallin (although I still favour whyte).

I enjoyed that.
Agree Breazeale is a reasonable tune up to face Whyte in some respects without the body barrages.
Wallin hopefully has been doing heaps of cardio, because as other posters have said, it is his downfall. Stepping off the gas with Dillian Whyte is a huge mistake.
I don't buy into the fact Wallin being a southpaw will make much difference. Whyte has a good team around him and I'm certain they would have addressed the shortfalls in his opponents being orthodox in sparring for this fight.
Re: Dillian Whyte vs. Otto Wallin | DAZN - 30 October 2021
Can’t wait for this. Enjoy Whyte vs any contender or fringe contender.
Whyte will have to be fit and work extremely hard vs a good southpaw like Wallin. Needs to be prepared to grind this out the hard way. And punches could be returning at angles he’s not prepared for.
Expecting a hard night for both.

Let's go, Otto! Ridicule the rematch policy!
Re: Dillian Whyte vs. Otto Wallin | DAZN - 30 October 2021
Just bought tickets for this… mainly cos my wife wants a night out… I’d be happy watching on DAZN… oh well.
3 weeks away and 3 fights on the card… 2 duds and a main event I’m not sure will go ahead after the WBC mandatory situation.
Anyone else lined up for a meaningful fight on the night or will it be a shocking undercard as I fear.
Wouldn’t mind seeing Hatton/Martinez II on this card over 8 with a competent judge… won’t happen tho.

Don’t think he will.
Re: Dillian Whyte vs. Otto Wallin | DAZN - 30 October 2021
While Wallin is away from home there won't be much in this fight, an interesting one.
I know Whyte should have had a shot a long time ago, but at least he has kept busy and earned well.

Has he been drug-tested? Back on the Dbol again for this i'd imagine..

I think Wallin goes the Crawford Grimley route. Hangs tough for 12 rounds against ageing Foreman, splattered in 1 in next fight against Jimmy Thunder. Whyte by early stoppage.

Really poor undercard what's the deal? Only the main event. With prices gone up you'd expect better?

Cameron/Mcgee - decent women’s fight but no one will really care about it.
Khoumari/Castaneda - good competitive fight but nothing crazy.
Fisher/Terrero - awful fight for Fisher. Terrero was stopped by light punching Dacres previously.
And that’s it. It’s better than most other U.K. shows purely because of the main event but where are the rumoured Felix Cash, Craig Richards fights? Cash had a great win and has done sod all since.

Frank W: If I Was Dillian Whyte, I Wouldn't Do The Fight With Otto Wallin
“Well, that’s a tough fight,” Warren said. “I mean, if I was him, I wouldn’t do the fight. But anyway, the fact is he’s gotta beat Wallin and then we’ll see what the WBC says.”
“Oh, it’s a massive fight, yeah, absolutely,” Warren said. “But any fight for [Fury] now is a massive fight now. You know, he’s shown what he’s made of. I mean, he’s a true, true warrior.”
“I’d like him to come back to the UK and fight,” Warren said. “But, you know, obviously we’ll sit down and work it out. It’s too soon to say. Of course the British fans would love him to be back there.”

We’ve seen how inactivity can affect fighters so I personally think Whyte fighting Wallin is a good move. It’s a competitive fight and assuming he wins he’ll be keeping active and it would be good prep for Fury.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑13 Oct 2021, 10:00 Whyte loves going back and forth with Frank.. Of course Frank would say that as he’s team Fury and knows a fight against Whyte would be massive business over here where Frank will be keen for him to fight as he hasn’t in 3 1/2 years come fight time. Bob’s taken the lead on Fury’s last 4 fights so it will give Frank an opportunity to step up and maybe get some more cash out of it if he as able to do a U.K. show.

There's clearly some chaos behind the scenes with Matchroom, but Eddie's great at brushing that off.maverick23 wrote: ↑13 Oct 2021, 07:56It’a weird how long it takes Matchroom sometimes conforming undercards. Some of that will be COVID related particularly travel, some will be around DAZN's wider plans and accomodating Golden Boy and the delays with Canelo, some are probably around his reduced talent roster.
But Hearn announced two UK shows recently (described as for Sheffield and East Coast) now down to one. He had the September US show that feel away. He recently announced a Mexican show for 23 October which doesn't look like happening. Most stuff is announced late.
Kid Galahad against Kid Galahad as your main November UK Dazn fight? Hmm.

The Liverpool show was announced well in advance and all of the main fights made it to fight night.
The Sheffield show is their only one for November in the U.K., it’s crap at the moment and only a couple of fights announced. Only 4 1/2 weeks away too. It’s not like they’re giving it 8 weeks.

I mean let's be frank take Wallin Whyte out and the next 2 cards are looking horrendous and it's only weeks away. I note they announced the Sheffield card with no opponents either on the undercard.
I don't mean to repeat myself but we now have a situation were his chief support in next 2 cards is women's boxing being used because it's cheap. And can claim X number of world title fights.

This Whyte card needs the full whyte undercard treatment to have a chance.
Whyte vs otto
Babic vs (hopfully a pulse)
Wardly vs (a tickover)
Johny fish vs Alvaro Terrero
Chris Kongo vs (a bounce back?)
Getting very late to be anouncing that though...

Re: Dillian Whyte vs. Otto Wallin | DAZN - 30 October 2021
get wardley a decent fight, unlikely to be a real good competitive 50-50er at this point id think, but with limited am background his fights should still teach him something. he is looking good enough not to need total babying
someone he should beat but is tough and durable, albeit small, would be andrey rudenko
jack mulowayi is a guy more his own size who could give him some good rounds. a bit like an afro-euro jon rice. he won vs an unbeaten hometown boy in chechnya last time, which can be an intense place to fight! although the big russian was an oaf and defo not as good as wardley
https://boxrec.com/en/proboxer/735878
is wardley actually on this card ?
