What's your routine for staying up for fights
Tomorrow night is the first I'm attempting to stay up for in a couple years. I used to do it regular in Box-nation days. Do you have any routine to help stay up?
I'm not an early riser so getting up for 4am isn't an option. I guess I'll try use tea and coffee to keep me up. Beer wise I usually drink Guinness but think I'll go with lager this time a bit lighter which may help.
With ringwalks at 4 or 5am it's a tough one I mite only start drinking for the Smith Fowler fight or after. Food wise I'm unsure yet.

I'm located in Moscow, Russia, for me the American fights are a couple of hours earlier on the clock than for you, Brits. So, I'm not staying up, I'm getting up for them. Tomorrow I'll definitely go to sleep earlier to get up on a Sunday morning to see the fight.
Last time of getting up was for Spence-Garcia, if I remember correctly.

So around 6/7am with the time difference? Yeah that's not too bad, definitely easier to get up at least for main event.DrDuke wrote: ↑08 Oct 2021, 11:49 I'm located in Moscow, Russia, for me the American fights are a couple of hours earlier on the clock than for you, Brits. The 4 and 5am fights are difficult, even for us hardcore's it needs to be a big fight to do it. Also the PPV rate in Britain/Ire likely goes way down for 4am fights. I'd imagine tomorrow should do well mind.

Some booze
Pizza
Lots of music on my headphones
I've bought the restoration animation of doctor who and the evil of the daleks (lost troughton classic from 67)
The worst thing is all the pointless prefight chatter from pundits. Avoid it, it is pure ketamin.

Yeah pizza for sure. The undercard seems very good for this one, hopefully the pundit stuff won't be as prominentfunso banjo baby wrote: ↑08 Oct 2021, 12:27 Some booze

Not sure what time the main event is in the UK so not sure if I'll stay up or put the alarm on for the big fight.
The Mrs is on nights so I'm in no rush to go to bed. I'll probably stay up for it all, have a few beers and some gin, maybe a supermarket pizza or something maybe an Indian takeaway.

Fair to say this was the last thing I was expecting to read on a thread like this. Was presuming everyone would just say ‘coke’.funso banjo baby wrote: ↑08 Oct 2021, 12:27 I've bought the restoration animation of doctor who and the evil of the daleks (lost troughton classic from 67)

I wouldn’t personally recommend pizza for an all-nighter, too stodgy. And definitely stay away from spirits until the main event starts.
I usually go with a Vindaloo and lager, which is a decent combination to keep you awake at the best of times.

Get up late on the Saturday morning, drink plenty of coffee throughout the day and a couple of family bags of Skittles or another sugar based treat around 11pm.

Yeah I think a curry is good idea earlier on. No sprits either agree, without pacing yourself can end up falling asleep by the time main event startsBoxerbeetle wrote: ↑08 Oct 2021, 12:54 I wouldn’t personally recommend pizza for an all-nighter, too stodgy. I didn't think Vegas was 8 hours behind GMT

Re: What's your routine for staying up for fights
I used to stay up most weeks but just record these days or catch first repeat in morning, last fight I stayed up for was the Fury/Wilder rematch funnily enough, I don't drink watching boxing anymore, i was forgetting everything so knocked it on the head, I'm still undecided whether to stay up for this, I've got a 2 year old so it's never worth it Sunday morning

That’s actually a really good point, the pre fight punditry absolutely seems to make the waiting last forever, mich better to put some tunes on or whatever.funso banjo baby wrote: ↑08 Oct 2021, 12:27

Re: What's your routine for staying up for fights
I haven't managed to stay up for the start of a Vegas main event in years - I'll either set an alarm, or just watch it all as live in the morning.
Re: What's your routine for staying up for fights

Re: What's your routine for staying up for fights
Used to be drinking all night but now I’m older there’s no chance. It’s getting up at 4am for me.

If I'm not working the next day I would get the drinks in and try stay up for the big fights. I'm in Amsterdam so an hour ahead of gmt. This weekend I'm working Sun morning so I'll go sleep and set the alarm for it

Record it.
Wake up at 8am, avoid the usual morning BoxRec check (and all other media!).
Straight downstairs, fast forward to the ring walks and watch the fight as live with a bacon butty and a cup of tea.
Salivating already!!
