The big prospects all go to the same four- five trainers. How many of them are actually too notch or juts promoter arse lickers and got lucky with a few big names???

There’s bound to be some cracking under the radar trainers out of sight of IFL etc.

Didn't Ingle say:

"More important than hurting your opponent is doing their head in. If they can't work you out, then they have no chance of beating you"

i remember Johnny Nelson talking about it... Saying stuff like boxing is 90% in the mind and sll that...

My son is a tactile and auditory defensive autistic lad that doesn't participate in sports. So, whoever it would be would have their work cut out.

Mccracken is better suited to coaching in the ams imo,so fine for them formative years, shown massive holes in his cornering game with aj though
I think the problems in the AJ corner aren’t down to Rob. He’s battling all the other voices there. I wouldn’t be surprised if he walked at some point, despite the rewards it brings.

Look at how well he did with Froch, Barker and even bringing on guys like Lenny Daws.
Yeah them other divs shouldlnt be anywhere near a boxing corner, and he did do great things for froch and daws etc

I dunno, ive said on here many times myself i like his all business, quiet but no nonsense style, just think in a fight of that magnitude, and as in ruiz 1,he was utterly clueless it seemed, never once showing any sings of a plan a nevermind a plan b,and a man of his knowledge should know that trying to "box" usyk,is ludicrous

He probably did. His biggest fault is allowing other people in the corner.

To be fair on that, Marsh's accusations (which are highly probable to be true) are in relation to not wanting the fight, potentially pulling out of the fight and looking to change it to a 10 rounder.

In hindsight all of those things would be working in Kelly's best interests, so if anything that's a reason why you would want your son to work with Booth.

He is picky about who he works with, generally seems to care for his fighters and has their best interests at heart.
He seems to improve most fighters he didn't have from the start aswell.

Yeah i can see that to be fair, hes a serious sort of chap who may tell you something once or twice but if you keep entertaining all the hangers on and having too many cooks he probably thinks f**k it let em get on with it :maybe:

I could be wrong with my timeline, but was Towers not with him for the win over Gregory Tony, which was definitely the highlight of his career.

The rest I would write off to saying he improved MOST (not all) of the guys he worked with, and Eubank jnr and Saunders are notoriously finicky guys to work with, I think most trainers would struggle with them.

All fair points :TU:

However I’m not that sold on him as a trainer- the video posted was literally just a gratuitous link to someone having a pop at Booth because I enjoyed it and I think it nailed him.

As a trainer I’ve seen too many of his fighters trying that half arsed philly shell/shoulder roll defence really badly, too many seem short course/ front runner type fighters. I’ve never been that sold in his work at all so the pound shop Svengali impression is just doubly grating.

Everything’s relative I guess and Smith’s a strong underrated fighter.

I think McGuigan’s improved Fowler since he moved from Coldwell - he’s just wasn’t good enough.

The ultimate dream team would be

Shane Mcguigan as the head coach, with Barry Mcguigan involved too.
Tunde Ajayi as the confidence coach
& Dominic Ingle as the Pharmacist

You’d get to keep about 5% of the purse with that team involved.

Or you could say it was bad match making for Kelly who was 10-0-1 when Avanesyan was 26-3-1 and had shared the ring with Mosley and Peterson, quite a jump in experience levels.

If possible Non , i,d get him a good manager with good promoter connections , and tell him to stay with the coach who taught him well enough in the first pla ce ,, most mentioned are just promoter ass lickers and good talkers , but if he was still alive Brian Hughes he ttaught them from kids to champs

For me would have to be ingle or booth. Two guys who actually give their guys tools to stop opponents punching them in the head repeatedly. Ingle would be my first choice....hes known for having whats called as tricky fighters mostly because its tricky to land on them. In a boxing ring no one can give their fighter the ability not to get punched in the face but the ingle style minimises it. Their footwork makes it tricky to land on them.

Booths similar....unlike a lot of british trainers who try to outwork and outstrength opponents....booths fighters at least give the opponent something to think about when throwing at them. The foot placement and counter punching booth likes...is usually enough to get opponents second guessing themselves when throwing. Both trainers actually give their fighters decent tools to stop opponents punching them repeatedly. Obviously a better fighter will usually beat a guy thats not as good regardless of trainer....but unlike most of the other trainers they actually promote not getting punched in the face with their style of training.

Their about the only two i,d trust my son with. Tbh i wouldnt let my son go pro anyway...mugs game. But if i had to pick would pick ingle first followed by booth.

Billy graham as a past trainer tho. His style was pretty much based on attack being the best form of defence. Worked well at least until...the level goes too high. At least when it stops working his fighters dont have 35 fights of wear and tear of say joe gallaghers style....of we,ll take your punches and outlast you.
