AJ hits a lot harder than Fury. I wouldn't expect Wilder to get up from a clean shot from him, nor would i expect AJ to get up from a clean shot from Wilder. AJ wouldn't have continued after those two knockdowns. Fury is a much better boxer than Joshua. Wilder has shown he has the chin and heart to take Joshua's power.

agree, very different dynamic

Have to also note the standard of those 41 Kos also. Many of them were slow, old and with poor fundamentals.Grilling Machine wrote: ↑10 Oct 2021, 05:21 Thinking on the nature of Wilder's KOs, I feel his power's very good but not spectacular by ATG standards, but his speed was always right up there until he added weight. I think it was the shock factor that wobbled so many, similar to Haye.
I wouldn't call him the biggest puncher of his era, even, because I think that's probably Price back when he had confidence. When you compare the effect Lewis had on noted tough guys, just detonating them across the ring... Wilder's isn't that kind of scary, but at 220 he was faster than almost every heavy, and that made him the hardest fast puncher in history. But outright hardest? No.

Brilliant fight. Credit to Wilder, even though he’s an absolute knobhead, he left it all on the line in there, which I didn’t think he would ever do. He’s just not good enough to beat any decent heavy, which is why he was protected for so long. Fury probably took him a bit too lightly this time around, could have made his job a lot easier, but thankfully for boxing fans he didn’t.
Re: Rround-by-Round: Tyson Fury vs. Deontay Wilder III - 9 October 2021
It was a good and poor fight at the same time. Looking at it entirely objectively it was in essence apart from the 4th and 1st, Fury vs a fatigued punch bag....but it was exactly cos of the 4th that made it so exciting.
But allegedly calling the best Heavyweight fight ever... a bit much really. It was an exciting one....but not even the best heavyweight title fight in last 6 years (or whenever Kitchsko vs Joshua was)

apologies if someone already mentioned it here, but the bleeding from inside Wilder's ear can't be good, right? I've only seen that from very bad situations

Yeah, those who stood up to Lewis were serious dudes in their primes, and McCall's chin was the GoAT for me. Mason was bravely stopped after some really vicious clips. I don't think Wilder faced anyone as tough as Gary until Fury, TBH.
Your Ibeabuchis and Tuas would've been much harder for Fury to stop. Byrd-Fury would've been fun for insomniac purists! But since 2000 the division's been weak, and it's only showing recovery signs of late. There's no number-one standout IMO, but a bunch of fighters who make for fun matches collectively.
I've always wondered how much better Calzaghe's career would've been had he lost to Reid (by a point on my card), and feel the same about Fury. Unless he finally has a run of top contenders now. Mayweather was another, with his wins over a percolated Pacquiao and 137-year-old Mosley. No Forrest or Williams, etc.

the power is legit, but wilder has arguably only beat 2 top 10 fighters in his whole nearly 45 fight career, and one of them accounts for his decision win
generally, the better the opposition, the tougher they are to actually stop. ortiz got up and nearly stopped him too. not everyone is just flattened once he hits them

when he had the title ya, it was slim picking at the time and beating arreola (lol) was enough
the best 3 wilder has beaten are ortiz, stiverne, and breazeale. not very impressive at all for a long reigning champ with 45 fights. aj beat breazeale after like 2 years pro and it was considered as a soft defense

Absolutely fabulous, nothing more satisfying than seeing that bitch Wilder get sent to the shadow realm, can't fault his heart though, tough guy in that ring, just a shame he's such a pussy out of it, as for the fight one of the great Heavyweight fights, Wilder started off well landing straight shots to the body but as soon as Fury dropped him with the right hand then uppercut in the 3rd the wheels came off, obviously Wilder had Fury down twice the following round and had him hurt pretty bad ,the right hand for the first knockdown was probably best shot Wilder caught Fury with in 3 fights , delayed reaction before Fury collapsed to canvas, another cuffing right had him down again
After that it was pretty much all Fury, Wilder looked a mess, legs gone, looked terrified and knackered down from another right in the 10th, he did land one or 2 big shots to show his heart bit really Fury took him apart and showed apart from power Wilder is nowhere near his level, Wilder should've been pulled by his corner but it was enjoyable watching him get pummeled and the KO finish was beautiful to see

Rewatched the bout. A pure masterpiece of fighting. Action, drama, it has it all.

Has wilder given his thoughts on the fight?

Hopefully Wilder and his toxic followers piss off now.

Wilder got a longish count in the 3rd..
He got up, ref stopped counting, then he spent another few seconds asking if he was ok..
Oh and the typical doc, giving him a few extra seconds before the start of the round..
Re: Rround-by-Round: Tyson Fury vs. Deontay Wilder III - 9 October 2021
Indeed. While Wilder looked very bad afterwards, there could be another KD with few seconds more.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑10 Oct 2021, 08:17Wilder got a longish count in the 3rd..

I thought all the counts were a bit slow tbh. Have no problem with that, as it was consistent for both fighters.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑10 Oct 2021, 08:17Wilder got a longish count in the 3rd..

I think you're deluding yourself in some attempt to make yourself feel better about last night's result.Grilling Machine wrote: ↑10 Oct 2021, 05:27 I'm certain Fury only beats Usyk with unsporting tactics, so I think he has an excellent chance. But if Usyk can negate that somehow, I'd pick him to win by a few rounds.
And as I keep banging on about, I think Joyce is eminent right now because he has a great chin, can handle himself in the rough stuff, can keep working, and has a ton of heart. He might lose convincingly on the cards to Fury, but he'd really bring it.
I'd lean towards picking Usyk against Joyce, Joyce against Fury, and Fury (only the best version) against Usyk.

I guarantee Fury will duck Haye. Even though Haye called him out.

Duck? Haye's retired, Fury needs to fight Whyte, none of these soft touches, if there's one thing Fury can look to learn from Joshua it's fighting consistently top opposition, no more inactivity, no more Schwartz types
