Will the Whyte/Wallin fight go ahead?
Ffs bought tickets for this then the next day Whyte is made mandatory.
It’s a risky fight against Wallin and technically he doesn’t need to take it.
Will we see a ‘covid’ pull out, or Wallin to be offered cash or a shot at Whyte if he beats Fury to get ‘injured’ for this fight, and be replaced by someone who Whyte would be 50-1 on against?
Also the undercard is shit… and likely interesting additions considering it’s less than 3 weeks away.

Re: Will the Whyte/Wallin fight go ahead?
The fight will still happen. Whyte’s not the type to back out of a fight and he’ll want to stay active.
Re: Will the Whyte/Wallin fight go ahead?
Would be typical Whyte to walk onto a heavy left tho.
Re: Will the Whyte/Wallin fight go ahead?
you'd have to feel for whyte if he lost and had to go back to square one
Re: Will the Whyte/Wallin fight go ahead?
A real catch 22 this.
Eddie needs Whyte to fight Wallin in order to fill his schedule and build the UK DAZN brand but Whyte isn’t so dominant to render these type of fights risk free.
I’m not sure that Eddie is even so bothered about Whyte fighting Fury. Whyte is unlikely to beat fury and It’s unlikely to be on DAZN, unless Eddie went so large at the purse bid.

Re: Will the Whyte/Wallin fight go ahead?
Hopefully Wallin wins to put the rematch clause in an embarrassing position again. And Otto can do it, he's a technically sound hard-working fella.
Re: Will the Whyte/Wallin fight go ahead?
Whyte is smart enough to know hanging about waiting on Fury - who is the most chronic ditherer and time waster in the history of the heavyweight division - is a waste of earning potential and will serve only to gather himself rust.
Re: Will the Whyte/Wallin fight go ahead?
Yeah Whyte is still improving too.
Should be a decent payday and good practice.
Madness not to take it.

Re: Will the Whyte/Wallin fight go ahead?
Agreed.
Fury even said he'd fight him before and then didn't. Dillian deserves his shot but also needs to stay active and learn and should go into this in fantastic condition and fight to get the win above anything else. He needs to be wary of Walllin's boxing ability and his durability. He should not be overlooking him at all.

I think if whyte and his team can weezle a way out and stay mandatory they would be foolish not to. But the Way WBC came out and said winner fights for the WBC belt, im not sure they can pullout..

Re: Will the Whyte/Wallin fight go ahead?
Fury has 1 fight left on his Top Rank deal supposedly. I hope the Whyte fight happens.
But we've got Bob Arum, ESPN, allegedly BT Sport and Eddie Hearn/DAZN all need to agree to it. I mean it's a difficult one to satisfy all parties and both fighters and the WBC.
That's before the banana slip potential in the Wallin fight. On the other hand if Whyte stops Wallin that's a pretty big statement that makes it hard not to give Whyte a shot.

What is the difference in pay for Whyte fighting Wallin and Fury?

Re: Will the Whyte/Wallin fight go ahead?
i would think massive... at a guess it would be a couple of million against wallin vs 45% of 20+million against fury(if purse bids and they stick to the interim challnager split but i think that might get cut a bit lower in negotiation).Terminator666 wrote: ↑11 Oct 2021, 18:31 What is the difference in pay for Whyte fighting Wallin and Fury?

The purse split for a WBC champ v WBC interim champ is set at 65-45 for a purse bid?gregregegg wrote: ↑11 Oct 2021, 18:48i would think massive... at a guess it would be a couple of million against wallin vs 45% of 20+million against fury(if purse bids and they stick to the interim challnager split but i think that might get cut a bit lower in negotiation).Terminator666 wrote: ↑11 Oct 2021, 18:31 What is the difference in pay for Whyte fighting Wallin and Fury?

Check ya maths there mate. But yea somewhere I saw it say 55-45 which seems outrageous and I doubt that will end up on that amount.jameswilson wrote: ↑11 Oct 2021, 20:31The purse split for a WBC champ v WBC interim champ is set at 65-45 for a purse bid?gregregegg wrote: ↑11 Oct 2021, 18:48i would think massive... at a guess it would be a couple of million against wallin vs 45% of 20+million against fury(if purse bids and they stick to the interim challnager split but i think that might get cut a bit lower in negotiation).Terminator666 wrote: ↑11 Oct 2021, 18:31 What is the difference in pay for Whyte fighting Wallin and Fury?

Re: Will the Whyte/Wallin fight go ahead?
if whyte wins , how do his set of wins compare to wilder's?
parker
povetkin
chisora x2
rivas
wallin
helenius
browne (i figure he counts since wilder has a guy like molina)
what would it take him to move ahead of wilder, considering dw wont have anything but ko losses in the last 2 years? and tbh, with the time i imagine wilder having out after that brutal ko, he'll prob be on 1 win in the last 3 years soon. is the seperation between aj/wilder and the 'rest' still so big?

On name wins alone he is already ahead of wilder. Parker better win than ortiz, pov better win then bermain, and chisora better win that breazeal. Rivas better than anyone else wilders beat.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑11 Oct 2021, 23:12 if whyte wins , how do his set of wins compare to wilder's?

but i think he got lucky with the headbut first parker fight, lucky with the decision first chisora fight, lost first pov fight, beat a version of pov that could hardly walk to the ring second pov fight, Brown was shot to bits, and helenius had not beat a pulse for 6 years befor him and even that was a robbery.
lot of negativity there but i love whytes fight anyone attitude... just saying i think in those fights whytes got quit lucky to have beaten them all.
Re: Will the Whyte/Wallin fight go ahead?
Whyte resume is better for sure. Head-to-head it's a dodgy matchup though. Whyte seems to have more tools than Wilder and he can rough it up, but he's chinny and Wilder definitely can KO Whyte with a one punch.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑11 Oct 2021, 23:12 if whyte wins , how do his set of wins compare to wilder's?

Re: Will the Whyte/Wallin fight go ahead?
I’m guessing Whyte will be getting 1.5mil for something like this fight and against Fury he’s looking at 8/9mil.

Whyte's record is unquestionably better than Wilder's. The only reason that people don't rank them that way is because of the shiny trinket and because they're influenced by promotional videos. Povetkin and Parker also have better wins on their record since Wilder won the belt than Wilder himself.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑11 Oct 2021, 23:12 if whyte wins , how do his set of wins compare to wilder's?

Re: Will the Whyte/Wallin fight go ahead?
The thing is, by the eye test the chinny Whyte can easily become Wilder's victim. Povetkin, on the other hand, could smash Wilder in his prime years, exactly when their bout was set, but went off. Parker is a specific fella, at the high level he almost always have close fights, wins or lose.joshj909 wrote: ↑12 Oct 2021, 04:08Whyte's record is unquestionably better than Wilder's. Re: Will the Whyte/Wallin fight go ahead?
I agree, but I personally choose how to rank people by their wins and losses rather than the eye test. Whether they would be favourites or not going into the fight would be different but I would find it unfair to rank a guy with no decent wins over an accomplished pro because of how he looks rather than what he's done.DrDuke wrote: ↑12 Oct 2021, 04:41 The thing is, by the eye test the chinny Whyte can easily become Wilder's victim. Re: Will the Whyte/Wallin fight go ahead?
If the less tested guy beat completely nobody, than yes. But Wilder still handled a couple of top contenders and several fringes. Also, he delivered some problems to the man of the division. So, in this particular situation I find reasonable how it's reflected in the rankings.joshj909 wrote: ↑12 Oct 2021, 04:51I agree, but I personally choose how to rank people by their wins and losses rather than the eye test.
