Spinks would outbox Wilder handily. Both could catch each other, Spinks would be more likely to do it. I see Michael winning by dec or late stoppage.

Spinks could do it all.Forget the Tyson fight that was a fluke. Not saying Tyson wouldn't have won,but Spinks was far too accomplished to base his career on that fight.
Spinks could adapt. He could box, slug, move, come forward and dynamite in both hands with a variety of punches. Wilder is a one punch fighter.
As a Wilder hater,he earned my respect the 3rd fight(prior to the after fight poor sportsmanship)
If he could catch Spinks ,he could win.

BUT he's much too 1 dimensional to catch him unless just a very lucky punch.
Spinks can follow a game plan and definitely would against Wilder.

Air tight defense, working the jab and counterpunching .Cooney was a big strong power puncher with quickness who had a better resume of opponents.

So I think Spinks tires a swinging for the fence Wilder after the 6th Rd and stops him with crisp power shots.

Either Wilder stops Spinks in the late rounds or Spinks would wear him down by out-boxing him on the outside with his jabs and his awkward herky jerky style to hit Wilder with a Spinks Jinx right hand to stop him in the late rounds or decision him.

Wilder would have a puncher's chance, but that is about it. Spinks was several levels above Wilder.

Spinks didn't do much at heavyweight. His body of work certainly doesn't suggest he is well above Wilder at that weight. I am doubtful he has the power to take Wilder out quickly. So is he going to somehow outbox Wilder the entire fight without Wilder landing anything?

True he only had 5 fights at the weight. But look at the Holmes and Cooney fights.
Obviously Holmes was past his best, but he still was a very good fighter. The Holmes-Spinks fights were good fights. Spinks showed that he could fight with heavyweights. He also whipped Cooney.

Spinks was much better defensively that Wilder. He was much more accurate. He could fight at a faster rate. There is no comparison between the abilities of the two.

Wilder might lucky and land the big one. However the odds are against it. And he isn't the best finisher of the world anyway.

Wilder doesn't throw enough punches and is not accurate enough to have a good chance against Spinks. Spinks knew who to box and knew how to fight. Wilder didn't really know how to do either. He just had power. That probably would not be enough.

Good one, good timing too.
Spinks couldn't hit 238 lbs could he ?
We know that was Deontay's highest weight, however it's a long way from Spinks highest weight isn't it.
When you compare styles, yes I could see Spinks doing ok boxing wise.
Close one.
