Boxers you've seen live without realising

Good thread. I went to Gary Sykes v Andy Morris (a terrific fight) in Huddersfield in 2010. I went as Tyson Fury was fighting on the bill and I saw most of his early fights. I don't remember too much about the undercard other than there was one or two popular (with the crowd) boxers who fought - which is normal anyway. It was only years later that I realised that I'd seen Carl Frampton (4-0) and Josh Warrington (2-0.) Interesting that Fury was fighting on a Matchroom show. I can't remember why too. Might have been when Hennessy was between tv deals (ITV and channel Five) and happy to keep Fury busy.

I was also at that show, it was the one that Fury punched himself in the face, I was ringside right in front of the action when it happened, I had completely forgotten that Frampton and Warrington were on that show.

Inspired me to look down the undercards at old bills and Josh Taylor sticks out way down the order at frampton/quigg. Don't remember any hype at the time.

I think he went quietly under the radar for a lot of people until the Ohara Davies fight.

Eubank Sr at Wembley v Greg George. I was there to see Duke McKenzie, Jim McDonnell and Michael Watson. Eubank got bashed about and was boo’d heavily at the end. I didn’t think he’d get to British title level based on that.

What we didn’t know at the time was he took the fight on two hours notice and was usually a light-middle whereas George had been on the unlicensed circuit as a light-heavy and only just got his license back due to retina problems. Eubank detached his retina again and sent him back to unlicensed. Eubank actually went over, though more of a shove it was a scored knockdown.

Jimmy, Mike Watson and Duke all looked brilliant that night.

Leon Spinks was tucked away on a John Conteh undercard in Liverpool back in the day and needed just 86 seconds to dispose of Blackpool's Peter Freeman. Nobody really noticed because Conteh thrilled the home crowd with a third-round knockout of Detroit's Len Hutchins.
