World title yes, but that doesn't mean it was his prime.

Re: Is Fury best ever british heavyweight ?
haye had been pro for a year and a half when thompson beat him
haye could ko younger fury, the one who struggled with cunn and got dropped by pajkic, but i think the matured fury would be all wrong for him. haye tended to shy up vs big guys who could box , and even some big guys who couldnt

Re: Is Fury best ever british heavyweight ?
efe not really my boy, i thought he was a decent prospect but albeit clearly flawed
fight pretty much showed up his short comings, too stiff and lacking in boxing skills, couldnt find a place for his power and got beaten clearly
sanchez won well, but man i thought he was as boring as sh!t my man

A few of these are bums. Botha? Tyson? Wilder is far more dangerous than the bum version of Tyson Lennox fought.Cas wrote: ↑13 Oct 2021, 21:38 Fury has a lot to do to be on the same level as Lewis yet. Beating a worn Klitschko and Wilder is just not going to cut it. Lewis went against some of the best heavies to lace the gloves.
Fury needs to beat Whyte, AJ, Usyk and Ruiz, maybe more. Then we can start talking about being the greatest British heavyweight. But for now Lewis is still far ahead. His resume is nothing short of remarkable really and will be hard to beat.
Tucker, Ruddock, Mccall, Morrison, Mercer, Golota, Holyfield, Briggs, Botha, Rahman, Vitali, Tyson, Tua
This resume shits all over Fury currently.
Fury wouldn't have any issues outboxing Mercer and the majority of these opponents.

Re: Is Fury best ever british heavyweight ?
this has made some interesting reading. heres a thought..... how do you guys think lennox would have stood up to the shots fury absorbed vs wilder in all 3 fights? Do you think he'd have folded?
Re: Is Fury best ever british heavyweight ?
He could be easily out with the punches of the second KD in the first fight and the first KD in the third fight, since he was out by Rahman, who wasn't that explosive and hard hitting like Wilder.

Re: Is Fury best ever british heavyweight ?
Isn’t there a YouTube complication of Lewis absorbing lots of hard punches. I think he had a better chin than Fury.
Re: Is Fury best ever british heavyweight ?
Lewis' chin isn't bad at all, while Fury's one isn't tested ultimately, but I won't place Lewis' one over Fury's based on the comparisons of situations with Wilder and Rahman. Also, Fury took a clean right hand of Klitschko in a one of the later rounds, which is a big deal.polecateddy wrote: ↑14 Oct 2021, 02:44 Isn’t there a YouTube complication of Lewis absorbing lots of hard punches. Re: Is Fury best ever british heavyweight ?
Interesting that ppl have brought up David Haye, as I was thinking about this last night and remember this matchup was a big deal before Haye withdrew. One of those matchups that everyone was talking about in the barber shop and at the watercooler. On the shop floor and up in the office.
Haye didn't to live up his his heavyweight promise but he was annihilating British guys from Audley to Chisora (Del Boy is not an easy guy to put away) - and Fury was badly hurt by cruiserweight Steve Cunningham, really struggling to see those fast punches coming, before mauling him into an exciting victory.
It's one massive fight missing from the Fury resume. Would've looked really good wouldn't it? But, the Haye withdrawal reflects more on Haye and the empty promises he made, in the transition from being a legit cruiserweight champion and dangerous heavyweight contender/pretender.

depends which Fury, doesn't it.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑13 Oct 2021, 21:59 haye had been pro for a year and a half when thompson beat him

Even when he fights the same guy twice (McDermott, Chisora), or three times (later on, Wilder), you get a different Fury each time.
I imagine that if Fury was able to get up from Wilder, he'd be able to get up from Haye. I have no doubt that Haye could have dropped Fury heavily. But Haye would burn up lots of energy to get near Fury, and if his gambles don't pay off fully, he would wear out from being leaned on, or from long, spearing punches.
Would Fury have slugged, mauled - or boxed? I can imagine a cautious, boxing Fury (from Chisora 2 and Wlad) utterly dissecting a demoralised Haye. But I can imagine the Fury of the exciting first Chisora bout having to overcome near disasters to win.
Re: Is Fury best ever british heavyweight ?
When they were supposed to meet, Haye would be destroyed by Fury. Around the time of the 2nd Chisora fight Fury was pretty close to his prime. Haye won't handle best versions of Fury. The Wlad bout scenario would be the most merciful for David.
Re: Is Fury best ever british heavyweight ?
but you never know given Fury's inconsistency and Haye's ability to whip in sudden power shots.
would've been intriguing and I feel it's a real loss. many were unhappy with Haye for this withdrawal. I believe he was cut during heavy sparring very close to the fight date.
