i thought the big fish was scheduled for sandland? what happened to that? seemed like a good test for him and one where he could show something to ppl like me who been not so impressed
this other guy is a record padder even for other journeymen, tbh it actually makes sense based on what i see of fisher, i think he needs to be kept busy with plenty of easy-ish fights and tough gym work over the next few years, to establish more of a foundation to take on bigger challenges. but i was intrigued whether he really is as good as some believe and could easily deal with a fairly tough guy like sandland

Match Wardley against Babic. The pub fighter should be ultimately exposed.

No - I think he needed some surgery after his last fight.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑14 Oct 2021, 00:36 get wardley a decent fight, unlikely to be a real good competitive 50-50er at this point id think, but with limited am background his fights should still teach him something. he is looking good enough not to need total babying
someone he should beat but is tough and durable, albeit small, would be andrey rudenko
jack mulowayi is a guy more his own size who could give him some good rounds. a bit like an afro-euro jon rice. he won vs an unbeaten hometown boy in chechnya last time, which can be an intense place to fight! although the big russian was an oaf and defo not as good as wardley
https://boxrec.com/en/proboxer/735878
is wardley actually on this card ?

Re: Dillian Whyte vs. Otto Wallin | DAZN - 30 October 2021
I'm a big Whyte fan. When Joshua was the big prospect, it was Dillian who gave him a surprise. Plenty of drama and great fun. Don't think we'd see another good prospect vs prospect fight at this weight until Joyce vs Dubois, five years later..
He built on this in terrific, hard fights with Chisoria (twice), Parker and Rivas - and I hope he can maintain this development vs Wallin. Obviously Otto gave Fury considerable drama (in the first and last rounds) oil their fun fight. And this promises to be a tough one - a long, drawn out struggle.
Just hoping Whyte doesn't get it wrong at this critical time, like with Povetkin. And that he can step up as worthy challenger and give Fury a really good, honest fight. That'd be a great homecoming, Fury vs Whyte. And a worthy mandatory title defence.
Re: Dillian Whyte vs. Otto Wallin | DAZN - 30 October 2021
Is this seriously the undercard? Ffs it’s grim.
Genuine question; does anyone know if it’s possible to bullshit a refund and sell the tickets back on Stubhub.
I’d rather go Portsmouth v Bolton tbh.

I'm sure someone would pay you £40 for them.. put it on Facebook market place it's face value anyway. You just wanna make back the £40 don't you.Dioufy wrote: ↑14 Oct 2021, 10:10Just the cheap ones. 40 quid

Yep. Will take face value but it’s awkward cos there’s no physical tickets… I’ll get sent an email in the days before the fight so my only viable option is to deal with Stubhub.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑14 Oct 2021, 10:11I'm sure someone would pay you £40 for them.. put it on Facebook market place it's face value anyway. Any ballpark idea of Whytes purse for this?
It's possibly the worst undercard Hearns put on, Whyte must be getting a big wedge

Its easy to sell e-tickets. The StubHub problem is, if you want £40 then you'll have to list them for £50. The buyer will pay £60 as both of you will be charged fees.. nobody ever asks Eddie this.

I think on Sky, he was getting a base purse of around £1m and then the rest was from PPV..peter barlow wrote: ↑14 Oct 2021, 10:32That's big, guess heavyweight is the place to beRuthless-RKO wrote: ↑14 Oct 2021, 10:24Probably a couple mil.peter barlow wrote: ↑14 Oct 2021, 10:19 Any ballpark idea of Whytes purse for this?

Well that's what happened against Parker.
His base purse may have increased slightly though after that when he fought Chis a second time etc.

I don't mind a fan's reasoning, because your not out of the realm of possibility by any means.
I only have two things, first- I think Whyte was a bit lucky with Parker a d the head clash, prior to it Parker was a level above in hand speed and peppering Whyte easily. Also Whyte didn't have the power to stop a concussed Parker through 6 rounds, and when Parker's head finally started to clear in the final two rounds, he nearly stopped Whyte.
As for the Joshua vs Whyte fight - I totally agree, it was a cracker, and I have actually rewatched it leading up to Uysk Vs Joshua.
To me, Whyte has been a bit lucky.
The Viking had Whytes eyes rolling back in his head, but broke his hand doing it, and Whyte came back and won. I think Whyte lost the first Chisora fight, I watched it 3 times and came up with Chisora 2 Whyte 1 so it was bloody close. Add the Parker fight to that and Whyte could easily have 5 losses on his tally.
The fact he has been in well matched fights I like and respect, I'm just not prepared to accept he is a PPV fighter.

Ha, put them on there for 35 quid… just wanting them sold and Stubhub are reselling for 47.mickey1975 wrote: ↑14 Oct 2021, 10:23 Its easy to sell e-tickets. I’m going to this card ffs.
Will think twice before going to another Matchroom card again.
So much reputation damage since leaving Sky and it’s only been 4/5 months.

Re: Dillian Whyte vs. Otto Wallin | DAZN - 30 October 2021
This card is same day as a good UFC card, and not just any card, a card on Euro time. Thats a nightmare, this card is already thin and i imagine a lot of whytes fans are also UFC fans.
have the 205lb world title.
The top 135lb fight (the guy that got DQ'd for koing the champ with an illegal knee)
Islam Makhachev (new Khabib) in a massive step up
and a decent heavyweight fight.
There is simply no way wallin vs whyte can generate enough revenue to pay enough money, to justify the risk for whyte. Wild stuff, that and the thin undercard has me expecting shenanigans.

Re: Dillian Whyte vs. Otto Wallin | DAZN - 30 October 2021
Although there’s quite a few people pulling for wallin i just think whyte should win this fight. He’s mandatory so if he’s not 100% sure he’s winning this fight he will probably pull out altogether
Re: Dillian Whyte vs. Otto Wallin | DAZN - 30 October 2021
That sounds a it cynical, as he’s risked his neck a lot of times - against Joshua, Chisora twice, Parker, Rivas and Povetkin. It’s actually Fury who is more likely to pull out of fights.
Many of the times the risk seemed beneficial, as he’s demonstrated many improvements - in terms of punch repertoire and movement - from the raw guy who fought Joshua. Although he has shown many instances of being frustrated and unhappy with the sport, and has lost focus himself a few times.
After Joshua I can’t think of anyone at heavyweight who’s faced so many contenders. I have little doubt Wallin will show him something he’s not seen before, yet this could again be an important part of Whyte’s hard learning curve - in addition to earning him a title shot, finally,
Of course that could easily backfire, should he fail to fight his ass off and concentrate fully, vs Wallin. If he loses, it won’t be far off when they’ll be feeding him to the likes of Joyce and Dubois in addition to whoever else is on the way up.

Re: Dillian Whyte vs. Otto Wallin | DAZN - 30 October 2021
I felt Whyte reached another level after Chisora 1 and Parker. He just was nastier than Parker and wanted it more, although Parker seemed to have an extra half level of class. Regardless, I feel the improvements were demonstrated afterward, in stopping Chisora to close their rivalry and then the really nice display against Rivas, with some good punch repertoire and subtle movement to win yet another good fight.KiwiRider wrote: ↑14 Oct 2021, 14:19Nice oneAutobarn wrote: ↑14 Oct 2021, 05:10I'm a big Whyte fan. I actually thought Whyte looked brilliant - until Povetkin almost took his head off. So economical, walking him down with the power jab, using nice timing to drop his man without even trying… although the rematch didn’t show too much, it was good to see Whyte in really good physical condition.
IMO this man is ready. Really hope he earns and gets his title shot - against a champion and not a vacant title fight. If Fury isn’t focused it will be a hard night not only for Whyte…
