I’m Proud of Boxing Fans Right Now…

Post by caldo2025 »

I must say that I’m pretty F’ng blown away by the public’s reaction to Wilder this week. Boxing fans ignored Wilder’s idiotic excuses from the previous fight with Fury and those INSANE allegations. Boxing fans even chose to ignore his latest post fight poor sportsmanship electing not to shake hands or congratulate the man that bested him in what most view to be a top classic heavyweight bout with a great champion.

No. Boxing fans disregarded so much in order to apply just due to a kid that clearly fought with everything he had. I think that’s very cool these days because the norm has always been to nitpick the loser in these mega fights and not appropriately commend the incredible efforts it must take to prepare and perform in a prize fight of this magnitude.

I say “awesome job Boxing Fans”! It’s about time that we award appreciation to both hands in a great fight, regardless of which one gets raised. A loss not only did more for Wilder’s legend but both guys efforts did so much for the sport of boxing. I couldn’t be happier for my favorite sport right now.

No one appreciates Deontay’s non-boxing related conduct, because he’s a fückïng stupid racist moron!

But inside the ring, at least when he competing, the guy’s a warrior!

People tried to do that shit to Wlad after AJ too. Yes they were both brave and showed well in losses. But they also both showed stupidity, self sabotage and lack of proper training and guidance.

I will forever be pissed that Wladimir did not go after the kill when AJ was so clearly there to be taken out. Winning it right there while also showing all that bravery would have been the bomb dropping for Wlad in people's memories. He had that shit and let it go.

I actually think the AJ loss was the best performance of Wlad's career. It wasn't Wlad at his best, but AJ was clearly so much better than anyone not named Fury who Wlad had fought in about a decade.

Wilder was quite a warrior during the fight.
But he was over matched and he lost.

Afterward he exhibited his really awful personality and character.

Aren't you kinda trying to polish a turd here ?

I feel confident enough to say that Wilder has received more love after this loss to Fury than he ever received knocking out taxi drivers left and right for the last 10 years. That’s been the views here in the states, I’m not sure if it’s been different in the UK.

In short, Wilder’s legacy in the sport is in a way better place than it was before the fight. That is very clear to me.

Most fans are just sick of the best not fighting each other and ducking/politics.

So when losing to the top guys isn't the disaster it used to be. You get more credit losing to the best than fighting poor opposition.

Perhaps it's an influence from UFC or old school boxing where a loss wasn't a big deal.

same gunshyness that joshua suffers from now after ruiz put him on his ass.

not able to let his hands go for the hell of it until under heavy fire or even buzzed.

vlad was getting away with it for years and years 'fighting' handpicked, smaller guys he pawed to death with his jab & instantly leaned on them when they came close. always reluctant to even commit into the brutalizing straight hammerfist. only when he was sure there was practically zero risk left of serious backfire from a already broken down opponent did he force himself to let his hands go in combinations to finish a guy.

Wlad was a totally different fighter vs Joshua. He actually let his hands go. Wlad vs Fury was the worst heavyweight title fight I've ever seen, and that includes both fighters. Least punches landed in a HW title fight, ever.

I'm proud of how both Fury and Wilder improved in the ring. Fury-Wlad was duller than dishwater, but Fury took a chance with a more aggressive style and it has paid off in a big way. Wilder learned a jab to the body which he should have stayed with, and like Fury, is an absolute warrior in the ring. Great show, gents.

Wilder could say all whites over 50 should be eliminated, which would include me, and I really couldn't give a sh*t.

Yeah man! This fight did a lot to put boxing back into the positive for the public. We NEED Fury to fight again for the sake of the sport.

I'd agree with that Caldo. Here in the UK I've been hearing a lot of praise for Wilder's performance, and more than that people saying that on that performance Joshua wouldn't live with him. I've always believed Joshua beats Wilder but after their last showing my opinion is currently covered in scaffolding while renovations are being carried out.

loads of people saying that are fury fanbois who are puffing him up for their man. notice how many of them are saying that it was the best wilder in there too, when he basically did what he always does. it's basically a way for them to try and get fury wins over the rest of the division without him actually fighting them. cuz after all, he already beat the #2 heavyweight! of course if you actually look into it, it's clear wilder's claim to that position is highly tenous

wilder showed heart, but dropping fury twice is already something we saw him do, without getting brutally ktfo at the end of it. and we already saw him survive torrid moment vs ortiz but gut through it. nothing all that new and i dont think this really changes much in the grand scheme of things

I was impressed with wilders bravery and was disappointed after the fight they didn’t embrace at the time even though there has since been some I think as long as fury’s in a positive place he’s good for boxing and one thing that isn’t doing boxing any good is these celebrities doing the boxing bouts it’s dangerous and embarrassing

Maybe so Maggie but my confidence in AJ has taken a bit of a knock lately, as it would appear has his own. His showing against Usyk was pretty unimpressive, poor strategy, wrong tactics, inability to let his hands go, staggered by a smaller man who is not known for punching power even at 200lbs, gasping for air, bereft of ideas and looking like a man resigned to defeat from early in the second half of the fight.

Now my dislike for Wilder is well known but if AJ had shown half his fighting spirit he may have turned it around.

wilder's fighting spirit vs fury was basically in taking a continual beating, and he took that beating like a man, i dont know that josh wouldve turned around much doing that though

its not like wilder realized he was losing and suddenly went on a 100 punch per round do or die comeback spree or anything. he probably threw even fewer shots than aj did. his braveness was mostly through continuing to soak up punishment . he went out on his shield, no doubt

Fighting spirit takes different forms but I felt Joshua's performance conspicuously lacked any of them.

I'm a massive Joshua fan and it really pains me to say that, but I say what I see ... always.

It had its moments but really this was like the second fight

Wilder had brief moments of fun in the fourth but ultimately was wobbly throughout most of the fight and soaked up way too much punishment for my liking.

could be rright about josh, and if you mean that you watched aj vs usyk, and now question aj more, then i agree.

but i defo dont rate wilder higher now for getting ko'd again by fury, or this whole 'losing was the best thing for his legend' stuff. . for me wilder getting a brutal prolonged beat down before getting almost ko'd cold doesnt really make me think any better of his chances vs anyone or his legacy

at his age, that's the type of thing that has people talking retirement and never being the same again, rather than upgrading the dude. he took his beating like a man, but he already showed that if someone was beating him up he'd keep taking it, in fury 2 and vs ortiz 1
