Fury had rougher times in the trilogy fight than he did in fight two. Did Wilder fight better in the third fight or was Fury just better in the second one?

i think it was a bit of both, fury was a bit sloppier and more open than fight 2, but wilder also let his hands go a bit more in fight 3 and didnt totally shell up after getting dropped the first time, whereas in the 2nd fight he shut down permanently after getting dropped in the 3rd

Fury came in worse shape than the 2nd fight, and Wilder came in with a do or die attitude. That alone made the fight more interesting. One can make an argument that was the best version of Wilder we've ever seen, although he certainly had better conditioning in the first fight.

Fury had the element of surprise in the second fight because nobody expected him to fight the way that he did--- and everybody expected him to fight the same way in the third fight, which he basically did albeit with more clinching and mauling.

id guess Fury was significantly worse in the 3rd fight. wilder was probably about the same, mabey a bit worse.

but its nearly impossible to tell, because you can only really judge a figter based on who they are fighting... its all relative

Wilder didn't do anything better really. His main success was achieved, when Fury was recklessly and straightforwardly coming at him. Fury gained too much weight, which made him slower. If Fury was at least in the shape of the second bout, it would have been a complete repeat.

Fury surprised Wilder in the second. In the first they both fought how we thought they would. Fury fighting in classic Fury fashion and Wilder doing the same. Fury won the rounds and Wilder got the knock-downs. The second was a whole different story. Wilder had never to my knowledge had to change his game plan for a fight and didn't. However, Fury did and Wilder didn't expect that so fought a completely different fight. The third Fury fought the same as he did in the second but Wilder had changed up his game plan. Wilder's fitness was also worse in the third than it was in the second so it was easier to make Fury look better.

I'd say Fury was best in 2nd then 1st then 3rd.
Wilder was best in 1st, 3rd and then 2nd.

Yeah, I suspected from his antics at the weigh-in he was pretty undercooked for this one. John Fury has provided a couple more details:

Fury was very shoddy in fight 3. Looked way below his best displays.

Wilders performances were all very similar standard although he came in too big in fight 3.

Dont understand for the life of me why Wilder put on the weight in fight 2. He obviously hurt Fury being smaller and in the last round.

People are giving Wilder so much credit, but the fact is he was by far at his best in fight 1. He actually won some rounds with needing a kd in fight 1. He only won one without a kd in both fights two and 3. He showed decent stamina also.

Going to be controvesial and say while Fury was tactically better in fight 2, physically he was better in fight 1.... but wilder was a lot worse

agree, wilder was too heavy, he was gassed most of the fight and that was always going to make it hard to finish fury even if he hurt him

he was never gonna outbox fury. what he needed was to maximize his speed on the right hand, as well as his stamina, so he could keep throwing it regularly, keep the power on it, and have enough for finishing flurries if he got the opportunity. he probably wouldnt have beat fury anyway, but coming in so heavy made it an even tougher task. he was never gonna beat fury in a roughhousing /inside/mauling contest either

he is a naturally lean guy, around 220ish most of his career. this fight his torso was all pumped up and looked like joshuas
