December 11th on Sky - PPV?!?

Post by maverick23 »

So the following fights/fighters are being lined up by Sky/Boxxer for a show on December 11th…

Savannah Marshall
Claressa Shields
Hughie Fury
Eubank Jr vs Liam Williams
Kal Yafai
Maybe the pro debut of Gal Yafai

I get the impression that they’re lining up a magnificent 7 style PpV. Thoughts?

No way Marshall or Shields fight anyone with a chance of beating them. Most of the guys with ability at Heavyweight are on different networks or have fights lined up so I can’t see Hughie having a big fight either.

The only way they could sell that as ppv is if it was shield vs Marshall and fury vs chisora and even then I wouldn’t pay for it personally

Eubank Jr and Williams have both fallen well short at world level. So you've essentially got two domestic operators, in what looks like a good style match up, with an entertaining build up.
And a rubbish undercard.

Is it PPV worthy?

No.

Will it be PPV?

Course it will.

Not going to happen though is it. Billy Joe will need at least 12 weeks to be in condition for it.

I don’t think the Dec 11 card will be ppv..

It says Shields and Marshall Will co-headline.

Sky will want Eubank vs. Williams to main event a card altogether.

Plus Eubank’s December date hasn’t been confirmed.

I doubt he’s want to be going on 3rd to last time 2 women’s fights.

Also, I think if Sky will PPV CEJ vs. Williams, they should go back to the £16.95..

They’re all about exposure these days.. why not.

Right now, they’re rebuilding. They need more eyes IMO

I haven’t seen anything saying they’ll co-headline.

I agree it shouldn’t be PPV but Claressa won’t be cheap and if they’re looking to get Eubank/Williams on there plus Hughie, Savannah, at least one Yafai then it won’t be a cheap card to put on.

I read it on a Boxxer press release last night..

Could change though. Who knows.

It would be the worst PPV they've ever done. I mean there's one decent fight there, the rest is just names Vs journeymen

Why on earth are they trying build a women's fight, there's zero depth at that weight class. I mean Shields is fighting in MMA in 10 days and concentrating on that so she can make a living.

https://mmajunkie.usatoday.com/2021/09/ ... mma-sooner

Sky Boxing now looks like a slow moving car crash. They underestimated how much Matchroom done for them.

No way Suanders would risk a loss to Eubank, can get away with losing to Canelo, but he'll never live down Eubank beating him

He posted on Twitter about fighting in December at a similar time to them announcing the Birmingham show. It’s putting 2 and 2 together but why else would they go to Birmingham.

I reckon it’ll be Kal and maybe the debut of Gal too.

The original magnificent 7 PPV's were decent shows in the main but if they put out a show like this on PPV they can stick it up their jacksie

I went to both of them. For boxing fans they were decent as they had several competitive fights (the first one did anyway - the second one not so much). Didn’t sell well though - tickets or PPVs from memory.

I still think BJS is a level above Eubank. He was doing really well against Canelo until the injury

Hughie would have to be fighting a huge name for that to be a PPV, If he had a huge name lined up december he wouldent of risked a headbut cut in October....

Dont belive this can be a PPV and if it is it will do 20,000 buys...

Who Hughie fights isn’t going to be the crux of whether this is PPV or not. Eubank thinks he’s a massive star so will be wanting to be paid extremely well to fight Williams and Williams will likely be wanting 6 figures too.

You throw in the other fighters being lined up for it and it makes me think they’re looking at PPV. Hopefully I’m wrong.

Shields and Marshall aren't fighting each other and there isn't two fighters in their division worth fighting.. So that's a bust..
Eubank Williams is "OK" but as has been mentioned - domestic level non championship fight.

So far, no good..
Not ppv. Not even close.

If sky attempt a Eubank vs Williams PPV supported by hughie in a lesser fight, and two women in tune-ups/set up fights..... Geezes christ that would take some balls. IF that is the case id like to change my PPV prediction to 10 buys. One for each fighters family to gather round and watch. Even then they will feel like they arnt getting value.

Lol  do you know I have bought most PPVs as I work out its cheaper to stay in and watch than go to the pub on a Saturday! But you have to draw the line somewhere...... and this is way below that line. Any PPV that has women as its headliners is a no. (unless one of the women fights guarantees Shannon Courtenay getting beaten up :D )
