Williams was a skillful fella with an excellent jab and with shakey chin. No doubt, he had an ability to outpoint Mercer behind the jab, but at his best Mercer was a very tough and relentless fighter. Ray came back from adversity much more often than Williams. He pulled out wins out of bad nights not for a single time. I see Williams establishing a lead on scorecards, but getting hurt and overwhelmed in the second half of the fight.
