i see a lot of ppl go off on hearn for being an attention whore, but is it actually good thing? does it help build the promotional brand

don king has always been big on this, with all his antics and flags and stuff

and today hearn is in every weigh in photo, moderates the press conferences, is constantly doing interviews and walk ins on fight night. does building his own profile help him get more attention and opportunities for his fighters, compared to guys who basically go unseen? is it actually a smart way to promote his fighters , and not simply a narcisstic need for attention?

Yes - I think it does help his boxers. He’s built a big profile for himself so when he does an interview, an awful lot of people watch. When he posts about a fighter or show on social media people see it. He’s a promoter so it’s his role to promote himself and his fighters. Bob does similar and, again, when he speaks people listen.

Bob got people talking with his Kate Abdo comments and his response to Coppinger.

I think if you compare it to Sky/Boxxer at the moment then, in my opinion, it’s just Sky doing the promoting which they’ve massively ramped up since aligning with Boxxer. Adam Smith has almost become the mouthpiece for the shows in the build up.

If/when Sky stop spending the time/money pushing shows heavily on social/google/YouTube and stop putting it on every possible channel then they’ll struggle I think as all Boxxer seem to be doing is matchmaking and out of the 2 shows they’ve had and those planned, outside of Rea/Smith, there hasn’t been one fight that I’ve looked for to or am looking forward to.

He is jumping in the deep end with Dazn, but potentially it is huge, obv it could go bad, but I see him making a success of it.

Hearn and Bob are the best promoters today. Period.

They’re miles off from the 3rd best IMO.

Bob loves the camera too and his old style is good to listen to.

Unlike Frank who has been in the game for a long time as well, Bob is still doing well.

Has a great stable. Puts in good shows as well.

The Sky deal is great for us UK fans.

Normally we’d be hoping someone picks up a TR card.. waiting and waiting.

But now we know every card they put on, will be Sky.

Hearn knows what he’s doing, and he’s doing it well.
