Unnecessary: James Toney vs Jeremy Williams
When I was checking out film of Brian Nielsen vs Jeremy Williams, someone in the comment section of that video brought up, "The Champ and The Chump" podcast so I went to check it out.
Sadly, I found out that these two ancient boxers are going to engage in an exhibition match in Mexico (surely because they cannot get sanctioned here in the United States) and this ruckus is going to be put on ESPN supposedly.
The last time I saw James Tony he was completely grey bearded and absolutely could not talk being interviewed by Ellie Setback. Toney should've retired long before facing guys like Lucas Browne (2013) sticking around until 2017, and Jeremy Williams hasn't done anything since 2013.
What in the hell is the point in this?
Mind you I have no problem with freak show attractions and exhibitions, I really don't. But Toney doesn't really have a brain left and Williams is shot to pieces.
These guys are so old and shop worn they are literally getting adjustments from a chiropractor for VIEWS to promote this exhibition. I love the sport more than any other sport in the world, but this shouldn't be taking place.

Oh man, Toney is gibber to the jabber. Who even wants to see them fight?
Sickos I think.

What the world awaits....

It is only an exhibition . Jack Dempsey fought them for years after he retired.

Jack Dempsey was still sharp as a tack mentally well into his eighties. Mind you, I'm not opposed to people being old and putting on exhibitions. Hell Jem Mace put on exhibitions into his seventies.
My issue and problem is that James Toney has had his brains wracked for years. The fact that they are doing it in Mexico speaks volumes that neither guy, especially James Toney, cannot pass a boxing physical in the United States.
Evander Holyfield was able to pass one. Look what happened to him getting embarrassed by a long retired MMA fighter in a boxing match. He's had his brain wracked for over a decade.
I'd rather see George Foreman and Larry Holmes box it out after all of these years because at least they are still mentally sharp even if they are in their seventies.

sad shit really, i'm a big toney fan, but this is... unnecessary.
if it should've anything remotely to do with boxing, i still want no part of this shitshow whatsover.
i'd suggest to just ignore this necrosadistic farce and to let this thread end right here.

This really casts a negative light on the career og Jeremy Williams. It was a good and exciting careee and then he has to go after poor Toney who can't talk any more.

Unnecessary for you, but toney needs $$
Re: Unnecessary: James Toney vs Jeremy Williams
So why not do autograph signings, selling signed gloves on ebay, or $10 a selfie?
The guy does not need another punch in the head.
Edit: sorry, but this sort of thing really upsets me.

He owed hundreds of thousands in back taxes. Some loon probably offered him 10 grand for light sparring with Jeremy Williams and he took it.
I think its dumb but i won't judge a man for making money

don't think those 2 are up for some pity patty pulled punches exclusively to the midsection, 'no attacking the head' mutual understanding 'exhibition' a la 'tyson/jones jr'.
they will try to take each others head off!
i could be wrong though.
any information on that?

Re: Unnecessary: James Toney vs Jeremy Williams
It will be a pointless exhibition, with zero excitement.
Good luck to them, if anybody is fool enough to pay for this, they deserve it.

Re: Unnecessary: James Toney vs Jeremy Williams
Would have been fun to watch back in their primes but this is just sad because this only happens because one or both are broke and need the money.
