It’s a belter of a cut so I can see the point being made, but I also don’t think it should have been stopped for a couple of reasons.

Firstly the line of the cut runs down and away from the eye, so as the blood pools down it it’s at least not running into the eye and having a significant impact on Fury’s vision.

Secondly Fury does have to tools to box from range and minimise the chances of the cut getting worse. Had the same cut been on a come forward slugger who was absorbing shots that has to be taken into consideration by the ref

Thirdly, Fury was winning the fight. Doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be stopped but had he been losing or slipping rounds the cut almost gives the ref another reason to cut short a one sided fight

No unless, you can see his skull/bone which means it’s gone totally through the 5 layers of dermeses, tissue & fats (I won’t bore you with the full medical names) it’s not impacting his vision so fight can continue, no reason for it to be stopped, bad enough cut never the less, if the cut is even a third of the size but running in a downward direction from head to chin on the inside of his eyebrow above his bridge of nose then it gets stopped, strange it may sound for people that don’t understand the anatomy & risks, so what I’m trying to say is the cut doesn’t always have to bleed a lot, been huge, look gruesome, it can be stopped straight away depending on its location

It gets stopped 99% of the time. But not a mistake not stopping it. Read the situation.

Just like how prospects get easy stoppages compared to world title fights ect.

But yes lucky to survive that. And also a bit lucky to survive the round 12 knock down. But both were the right decision.

looks like fury's eye is collapsing upon itself just as much as vit's tbh, fury's flesh/skin is hanging over half his eyeball. both look like total gorey messes, it's like you can see into their heads

Fury's eyelid seems to hang over the eyeball because of the swelling. Vitali's flesh was literally hanging, it was possible to open and close his wound with that piece of flesh, as if it was a doorway.

In Vitali's case it looked like and attempt to tear the eyelid off. It was definitely worse. A regular cut, like on Fury's eye, can be covered with wax and be more or less OK, while Vitali's flapping flesh was a total mess.

oh ya, vit's was once of the worst of all time, it's hard to beat that. fury certainly making his claim to have one of the nastiest cuts in recent years though, not to mention the 2nd cut and swelling to top it off and cover half his eyeball

Fury's cut wouldn't even be discussed that much, if the over the eyebrow one wasn't that big. However, the place itself isn't the worst one. Actually, a lesser cut on the eyelid could turn to a bigger problem. So, this case is sorta misleading.

However Fury is the champ, the A side and was winning the fight.
