Who is More Deceptive?

Post by Bard of Boxrec »

Each of these characters has accused the other of being deceptive, but what’s your verdict? Hopefully the loser of the poll, that is the person adjudged by boxrec to be the more deceptive, can spend some time reflecting on their behaviour and consider how they can stop being so deceptive in their posting, and we can all move forward from there.

Jury is out..

Does this need to be unanimous?

I'd have to read through the thread so I have no vote.

Well one is not very deceptive at all. When caught out or proven wrong, he goes on a repetitive tirade, doubling down, moving the goalposts, tries to misquote and sidetrack from the point, acting like a petulant child and basically lying in pathetic attempts to cover up. It's very obvious and not deceptive at all.

The other hasn't really come to my attention and just seems to amble along without anything obvious to signal a warning. So if he's being deceptive, he's very good at it.

EO is not even remotely deceptive.
He trolls the same game in every thread.

Alp is not going to waste his time trying to deceive anyone.
..........but Alp can't shrug off condescending posts so that makes him an easy target for EO.

Not deceptive just a fundamental misunderstanding of statistical analysis. Its their educators fault. They seem like nice people

I do not consider EO a troll. I think he is just a blow hard who has a high opinion of his knowledge. Though others see through the majority of his "FACTUAL" evidence.
He is an opinionated douche bag but not a troll :TU:

But aren't all the actions listed here deceptive? Repeating the same thing over and over is a tacit that works because if you say something often enough and loud enough some people will start to believe it even if it is false. This is misleading or deceiving those people.

Moving the goalposts is a deceptive tactic, since you're trying to trick the kicker into thinking the distance hasn't changed. Misquoting, sidetracking and lying are all ways to deceive people. Along with confusing the argument with meaningless statistic after meaningless statistic. Many of which are false but enough of them are true to give the impression of expertise.

You've actually proven that EO should be the winner..

Completely agree. Just because we are aware of it doesn’t take away from the fact that his conduct is misleading and deceptive.

What a butthurt little thread. If you dislike your dialog with someone here then just end it, let them have the last word. If you believe that trolling is happening then report it but this "is he worse than him" nonsense, just sounds really butthurt.

I do think some of what he does is trolling. Internet trolls are someone who takes pleasure in causing drama by arguing with people without wanting or accepting anyone's response. Perhaps he doesn't do it intentionally, but clearly craves attention.
