I just watched it a bit late.
Martin was, and still is Euro level.
Full credit to him, he was the best he could be. Garcia was flat, flatter than just an off night. Why he couldn't catch a southpaw doing exactly the same thing all night is inexplicable.
He will most likely have a few opportunities, but after that, he is a name on the next up and coming fighters resume.

I’ve not watched this yet, but very disappointed to read all the reports / opinions etc. Mikey used to be one of my favourite fighters, but he’s looked pretty awful for a few years now.

He deserves it mate, looked crap and podgy against Spence, exact same here, he should be fighting at Lightweight

I watched the fight this afternoon, not knowing the result - found it entertaining, seeing if the Spaniard could do it. Delighted for him, he deserved it.

mikey used to be regarded as a p4p level precision puncher

but he could hardly find martin with a clean shot. martin fair play boxed the perfect fight for his capacity. did everything right, kept mobile, had good quick moves to the side when forced near the ropes or corner, found a good mix of boxing defensively but keeping his own offence up. fast hands. between him being on his game and mikey being so blah, sandor was a well deserved winner.

keep in mind that he's really just a light welter himself. defo earned another good opportunity, not sure he'll be able to build a streak beating world class opponents, but defo deserves the chance to try.

ya mikey is no more than a natural lightweight, i always look back to how ridicuolous he looked next to spence. like a little kid. totally dwarfed while at the same time being completely soft. and he was soft and short at 140 too.

the only reason he cant make 135 is because he just doesnt have the drive

Just watched this card, glad Martin got the nod on the cards as he fully deserved that win, got to be upset of the year (been a few but not on this level). Mikey looked very ponderous and was outboxed without a doubt, life changing victory for Sandor. Mikey just isn't a welterweight, it's as clear as day physically.

Not a bad show on the whole, Brock Jarvis was moments from being stopped on his feet but showed a lot of heart to stay in there and turn the tables, nearly a nightmare start with Matchroom. Gonzalez v Soto was decent and Jesse Rodriguez looks a real talent. Castro's opponent was...limited to put it nicely.

I like this part, but it would be nice if he would fight more often..

He lost his '0' to Spence, 2 weights above where he should be, so that did not hurt him at all.

This fight has hurt his stock, but it seem's he's in it for money.

He's already a 4-weight world champion, fought legit contenders and champions too.

He looks fat on the scales when he’s at welterweight. And he took this fight at 144.

If he gets himself down to 135 he’d be a wrecking ball. And I refuse to be told he couldn’t make that given how he looks on the scales at 143.6.

Also given the depth of talent at 135 it’s hardly like big fights wouldn’t be hard to come by.

I have zero real interest in Mikey going forward unless he’s at lightweight… the fat plumb.
140lbs is too big for him. He needs to shake those man-titties off and go after any big name at 135lbs.
He’s 33 ffs.
