I don't know if I would move him up to 135.

he's big enough for it and got the skillz, sticking around at 130 for very long is gonna just keep his career boring unless he can get valdez. they do have the same promoter so maybe it can happen. each take a fight on the same /back to back cards or something to hype it up, then fight a unfication

at 135, now he's with the cool kids. career will be a lot more interesting and his name will be a bigger part of the discussion

I agree the talent is at 135, but I don't agree that he's big enough.

he looked pretty beefy at the weigh in, ripped and muscular . for a guy who started in his early 20s and had room to grow, 3 divisions (9 pounds total) isnt really all that huge of a jump when youre talking this low in weight. very very rarely do these little guys only stick to a division or two

btw i saw him spar haney and he did very well

Not like he would be small vs Loma or tank. Would be pretty tiny vs Garcia, Haney and teo though.

That said, I think he fits in the mix with all those guys.

dude controlled dev, bit of a schooling and i dont think it looks like a huge size difference. i defo think he could beat him. haney aint the type to impose being the bigger man either, thats not how he fights

Good win for Stevenson, this will up his reputation.
Shakur look filled at that weight though.
Like to see someone test Shakur proper.
Exciting boxer lets see what he got going forward.

While I can't see him getting too far at 135 with his lack of power, 130 doesn't have the fights that will elevate him.

Is Prograis like 5' 6" because there is no way that Stevenson is 5' 8". Stevenson looks around 5' 6" to me as he was the same height as Joet Gonzalez from the face-off pictures.

Haney is an e-mail champ. He'll be knocked off too soon for Stevenson to grab another title.

Stevenson looks like the best at SFW. I guess, he can deal with the likes of Valdez, Berchelt or Conceicao without much problems. Also, I'd confidently pick him over Haney or Garcia. It will be good, if he is matched at least against someone of this group next. The most interesting and competetive matchups will be vs oma, Lopez or Davis.

But with this being boxing, you can count on him making a load of nothing defences at 130 and then only come up to 135 when everyone else has gone to 140, or cherrypick a weak belt holder when he does come up

Herring was a punch bag, it was a good stoppage by the ref. Agree Stevenson has pillow fists so didn't make for an exciting fight.

It's a poor division as was said considering Herring is number 2 in most rankings. Stevenson needs the Valdez fight or at worst Gutierrez, otherwise there's nothing there for him of interest and moving up should be the goal.

Depth isn't there at these lower weights you could take out several divisions and it would be much more interesting for fans. But of course what we want isn't take into account :brick:

Boxing Scene have JH rd 6 I think.

Someone on here gave him a round as well.

And one judge gave him rd 2..

Not very consistent..

Jamel wasn't himself, he gave 30% of what he really is, a shame, he was out and giving the fight away since 2nd round. Definitely the mental pressure shakur did over him had a huge effect because he was seriously mediocre compared to his last 4 bouts performances.

He was at a serious speed and skill disadvantage. He needed to make it a war and he cant do that. He knew after a round he was screwed like most of us here predicted before the fight.

Exactly. Outmatched; outskilled; outfaught. End of.
