Contradictory statements on there from Top Rank. How can the p4p best fighter not have beaten anyone at or above Shawn Porter's level?

I think Crawford is prime, and will surprise a lot of people beating Porter, convincinly. He may not stop him but we'll see TC's full toolbox in this one.

Id be surprised
Spence didnt dominate porter. Crawford hasnt been in with anyone as good as porter and is a slow starter.

Crawford should be able to time rushes after a few rounds. I think he wins a competitive decision but has some trouble and gets headbutted a lot

If he walks all over porter i will be really impressed

If porter tries to traditionally box he will get killed. Sometimes he tries that- but this is his last hurrah so i think he just brings it

Jared Anderson vs Oleksandr Teslenko joins Crawford-Porter on November 20th

Jared “Big Baby” Anderson took zero damage in last weekend’s beatdown of Vladimir Tereshkin, and as a result, he’s set for a quick turnaround. Dan Rafael reports that he’ll face Ukraine’s Oleksandr Teslenko on the November 20th Terence Crawford vs Shawn Porter card.

Despite weighing around 220 pounds, well-traveled amateur Teslenko (17-1, 13 KO) enjoyed a steady rise through the heavyweight ranks under promoter Lou DiBella before running afoul of Shawndell Winters in 2019. He would not fight again until this past June, when he demolished Argentina’s Cesar David Crenz. At 29 years old, this is basically his last chance to graduate from prospect to contender.

Anderson (10-0, 10 KO), who’s needed less than 10 combined rounds to rack up three stoppage victories this year, figures to be a massive favorite. He’ll have size, power, and pedigree on his side; I doubt he and his team would take a fight on a month’s notice if it was likely to blow up in their faces.

Had we not seen Teslenko already lose to a journeyman, this would be an intriguing battle of up and coming heavyweights. It's not a horrendous matchup but probably not much different from Tereshkin. I think Anderson could be looking at slightly more accomplished or tougher to finish targets already. Good turnaround though.

Crawford: Even If It Was A Knockdown Against 'Mean Machine,' Whoop-De-Do! He Got Knocked Out

Terence Crawford couldn’t care less if Shawn Porter or anyone else thinks Egidijus Kavaliauskas should’ve been credited with a knockdown during the third round of their fight.

Crawford was adamant about not getting dropped by “The Mean Machine” in the aftermath of that bout, but he looks at that sequence differently nowadays. The unbeaten WBO welterweight champion is focused more on how he responded to that tenuous moment in their December 2019 fight than whether referee Ricky Gonzalez missed what should’ve been ruled a knockdown for Kavaliauskas.

A determined Crawford quickly responded to the impactful right hand his mandatory challenger landed with hard punches of his own. He later knocked Kavaliauskas to the canvas once in the seventh round and twice more during the ninth round, when Gonzalez stopped their scheduled 12-round, 147-pound title fight at Madison Square Garden in New York.

The 34-year-old Crawford discussed the Kavaliauskas controversy with a small group of reporters following a press conference to promote his title defense against Shawn Porter on November 20.

“My thing is, even if it woulda counted as a knockdown, what does it matter?,” Crawford said. “It wasn’t like his fight, you know, going 12 rounds. I stopped him. You know, so even if it was [a knockdown], whoop-de-do! Now what? You scored a knockdown and got knocked out, so.”

Kavaliauskas told Boxing Scene last year that he is certain he hurt Crawford with that right hand in the third round and should’ve been credited with what would’ve been the first knockdown of Crawford’s career.

Kavaliauskas caught Crawford with a straight right hand with 1:35 to go in the third round that made Crawford bend over and wrap his arms around Kavaliauskas’ waist. Crawford’s left knee touched the canvas two seconds later, but Gonzalez determined that Crawford didn’t go down as the result of Kavaliauskas’ punch.

Porter completely disagrees with Gonzalez’s ruling.

“Oh, it was a knockdown,” Porter said following the aforementioned press conference. “Don’t even ask me. Everybody know that ‘The Mean Machine’ knocked down Terence Crawford.”

The 33-year-old Porter also took other observations from the Crawford-Kavaliauskas fight into consideration while formulating a game plan for his shot at Crawford’s WBO belt.

“We saw some challenges there against ‘The Mean Machine,’ ” Porter said. “I felt like [my promoter, Tom Brown] took a shot at ‘The Mean Machine’ right there [during the press conference]. But, you know, there was some adversity there for Terence in that fight and I think some things to take a look at for ourselves, in terms of how to, you know, reach that kid and touch that kid and what we can put him on his butt with.”

Crawford (37-0, 28 KOs), of Omaha, Nebraska, and Porter (31-3-1, 17 KOs), of Akron, Ohio, will headline an ESPN+ Pay-Per-View show five weeks from Saturday night at Mandalay Bay’s Michelob ULTRA Arena. Most handicappers have established Crawford as at least a 5-1 favorite versus Porter, a former IBF and WBC welterweight champion.

I kind of agree with Crawford here.

Whatever happened during the Kavaliauskas bout will have no bearing on the Crawford-Porter fight.

If Crawford has been knocked down several times during his career, there’d be an undeniable underlying problem that could potentially affect the outcome of his bout against Porter, but this clearly isn’t the case.

Crawford does have a pretty good chin, doesn't always risk it but rarely does he get shaken up for a period of time.

By the time I've done Shawn Porter.
Terence Crawford is next.
It's going to be a fair breakdown and shakedown of the 147 division as long as this thread goes and we have about four weeks to fight time.

Who has hit Terence Crawford and had an impact to take over the fight ?
There's not a single fighter that can claim that.

Yeh, when someone hurts TC, it usually pisses him off.. and TC takes over.

Had some easy fights though.
Spence and Porter are the ones that had to take the challenging fights.

To be fair, the calibre of opposition Crawford has faced since August 2017 has been particularly dire, especially in the context of him being a long-time top-three ranked pound-for-pounder.

I'm not saying you're wrong, by the way, but we can't ignore his weak resume at 147lbs.
