Re: Shakur ... Project his future
I hope he fights the Colbert-Figueroa winner and then moves up to lightweight. However, I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see him again at 130. I'm not sure if he becomes a superstar, but it's a real possibility. Tremendous talent.

I would like to see him defend a belt.
he didn't defend his prev belt and moved up.
He should defend it. A couple defences as long as he can make weigh comfortably.

Re: Shakur ... Project his future
Will win some more fights, and go nowhere because he's always boring as all hell.
Re: Shakur ... Project his future
When he was at 126 Conlan was his #1 Contender, but Conlan went to 122 and Stevenson went to 130, My guess is Arum did not want those 2 ro fight as Conlan is a big draw in Ireland and in the USA wherever there is a large Irish Population, and Stevenson has superstar potential in the future, he was going to fight Valdez, but Valdez is a huge draw with Mexican fans and Arum said he is going to see if Navarrete will go to 130 and fight and fight Valdez in a match of Mexican stars, I think Stevenson would have beaten Conlan and both Navarette and Valdez, I guess Stevenson can unify with Rakhimov or fight Colbert who is very good or Conceico who I think beat Valdez, Conceico is an Olympic Gold Medalist and Stevenson was a Silver Medalist, they did not fight each other in the Olympics, lots of good fights for Stevenson at 130-135Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑26 Oct 2021, 07:14 I would like to see him defend a belt.

Re: Shakur ... Project his future
Maybe moving up will allow a bit more muscle and hopefully a bit more pop to his punches.
I like his skill set, it's just not that effective unless you count cumulatively over the course of a championship fight- and even then...
Re: Shakur ... Project his future
In the near future I can see him winning the likes of Oscar "Canelo's Beefy Friend" Valdez, Devin "Big Lips" Haney and Ryan "Instagram Depression" Garcia, while matchups against Loma, Teo and Tank bring more intrigue.

Re: Shakur ... Project his future
Shakur is probably the best at 130. And is also the biggest name which always makes making fights easier. Should try his hardest to go undisputed quick then 135. So unifications and mandatories only, and if it’s a shit mando it shouldn’t take up 6 months… if he does this he could be a massive name going to 135 in 18 months..

he's got the ability to be an top tier p4p guy i suspect, but i think his style and general lack of personal flair will prevent him from being a true superstar.

ya pretty much
Re: Shakur ... Project his future
Shak's style and aggression, like his recent fight will help him gain popularity. As his confidence grows he will do great things. He's definitely the real deal.
Re: Shakur ... Project his future
Pound for Pound top 5 at least.
Pound for Pound Nunber One at best.
The guy has elite skills. If he fights like that every fight it will be a thrilling career to follow.

Re: Shakur ... Project his future
Style and aggression - yes, but it's not punishing enough. Like a sparring session where your holding back thr pop, except he doesn't have any. Once you realise that, his fights just aren't as entertaining as they should be given his skill set and work rate.
Re: Shakur ... Project his future
Personally I think Shakur has a fair shot against anyone from 130-135. I believe he's the most skilled of the bunch and that's saying alot considering the talent surrounding those divisions.
I don't believe Shakur will ever be a huge draw or PPV star, but I can see him still headlining PPVs, just not on the ODLH, Mayweather or Alvarez level. I do see him potentially reaching the level of a Errol Spence as far as drawing power, which is still respectable.

Will be 4 Weight Champion, 126 and 130 so far, 135 and 140 likely
Re: Shakur ... Project his future
He had enough pop to keep Herring from committing to punches, especially his jab.

He was shy in offloadingIKSRTFO wrote: ↑29 Oct 2021, 20:38He had enough pop to keep Herring from committing to punches, especially his jab.
Herring's other two losses were by stoppage
So I do get what your saying. And Shakur was laying down a cumulative amount of punches.

Re: Shakur ... Project his future
facing a superior boxer will do that, it doesnt take power to drop a guys output. even paulie could shut down guys offense (eg ndou 1 fight, senchenko)IKSRTFO wrote: ↑29 Oct 2021, 20:38He had enough pop to keep Herring from committing to punches, especially his jab.
shak's got some light hands for sure, but wonderful boxer

I think Herring was a bit gunshy.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑29 Oct 2021, 21:01facing a superior boxer will do that, it doesnt take power to drop a guys output. even paulie could get guys not opening up
But I also agree it was only one way for the majority of the fight.
But if we look at the thread OP, I would have wanted Herring dropped and stopped before I commited to predicting a bright lucrative future for Shakur. He's good, but I'm not sure that equates to fan friendly

Re: Shakur ... Project his future
Could he go straight into a Lomachenko fight or is it too early ?
SS would have to move up.
Is it the right time ?
That's who he said he wanted.
