Extra weight will reduce his mobility
That happens with a lot of Heavyweights but they still get the job done.

No heavyweight has “got the job done” against Usyk.

Rewatched about half of AJ v Usyk today. Great contest but I was seriously annoyed by McCracken’s “brilliant AJ” every 30 seconds. AJ throws a slow pawing jab that misses “Brilliant AJ!”.

Robert McCracken probably isn't the problem. It's likely he isn't to blame for Joshua's loss to Usyk.

I strongly-suspect there are too many loud voices conveying mixed messages within Joshua's needlessly gigantic entourage, which are mostly comprised of “Yes” men:

By the way, I don't think this photo includes all the people that are part of AJ's entourage.

Joshua likes to be in charge of his own destiny – being the “Boss”, but he needs to work with people that aren’t scared of telling him his flaws!

I bet one of AJ’s team told him to forget about using his physical attributes, because he could outbox anyone, including Usyk, with Joshua gullible enough to believe the hype generated by members of his own team!
If that's his entourage of yes men than he has no hope. He needed an Angelo Dundee in his ear saying 'You're blowing it son', rather than 'brilliant AJ, brilliant AJ, brilliant AJ'.

As it is he couldn't figure out the southpaw angles and which punch to throw in which position. He had some success with bodyshots and then seemed to give up.

I do question if he even does roadwork. His stamina is shocking. Maybe it's the old saying of 'It's hard to get up at 5am and go out and run when you sleep in silk pyjamas'

The Dillian fight was the last time he looked like he was going to the ring to actually beat the shit out of somebody. He needs to find that version of AJ again. Whether he can or not is debatable, he's now got more money than god and if you're not a natural fighter like Fury it's hard to keep that.

Far greater boxers than AJ have lost that 'dog' they had in them and once it's gone you don't normally get it back.
Agree with this.

He needs someone to get into his head and sort out his psyche.

Changing trainers isn't going to help him against Usyk, as Oleksandr is a better fighter who will adjust his tactics accordingly, but sorting his head out might help him overcome his hesitancy and he might enjoy a bit more success, possibly.

It wasn’t McCracken, that was the ‘co-trainer’ Joby someone or other.

Oh ok my bad. Apologies Mr McCraken (if you are reading). Also AJ (if you are reading) could you please remove Joby from your entourage. She was very annoying, constantly yelling “Brilliant AJ” in a masculine voice.

AJ uses the pawing lead hand to control the distance and proactively parry his opponents jabs.

It creates defensive traffic that congests and disrupts the punching lanes.

This is Joshua’s sole means to take away his opponents’ jab, which has been very effective against most of his opposition to-date, even though it fairly predictable (since he uses it all the time).

However, Usyk used his own jab as a feint, to draw-out AJ’s pawing lead hand, which provided an opportunity for Oleksandr to immediately counter with his leaning left cross down the pipe!

To be fair, this was the first time I’ve seen AJ’s pawing lead hand being ineffective… probably because he was trying to outbox a master boxer.

Anyway, not all fighters react favourably in the heat of battle to criticism. Some need to be told they’re doing well to prevent them from losing faith to the point they become demoralised.

Meanwhile, other fighters may react more favourably if they’re constantly informed of their weaknesses and being told they are doing worse than they really are, otherwise they may become lazy and complacent.

We have to assume that Robert McCracken knows his man and makes a judgement call depending on the circumstances.

I personally believe that AJ’s mind-set is his main problem – not Robert McCracken.

He’s not stubborn enough and accepts defeat far too easily.

Shane Mosley. He could spar with Jake Paul.
