Wladimir Klitschko v Vitali Klitschko

Post by Evander »

Whatever you consider their primes to be at Heavyweight.
Who wins a Wlad v Vitali bout?

Put me down for Vitali.

Wlad would outbox Vitali. He was better in everything, except chin. Anyway, Vitali wasn't a banger. Wlad would score a dec behind the jab and one-twos.

It either would have been a tactical bore because they loved each other too much to hurt one another, or it would have been a brutal blasting where both men would have gotten their licks in at different points.

Hardest fight possible for either man because they knew each other better than anyone else in the world, having trained together and sparred each other all their lives.

Would Wladimir be able to out-box Vitali? Would Vitali be able to out-fight Wladimir? Once upon a time I would have said without hesitation that Vitali Klitschko wins by knockout. If both men truly brought their A+ game going at it full-tilt.

However, the more time passes the more I think Wladimir Klitschko would've been problematic for Vitali Klitschko. Basically everything Vitali could do Wladimir did a little bit better--- but Vitali was such an iron-chin and could dig down deep and fight harder in defeat that without question he would be his brother's toughest opponent.

I did "Fight by Fight" threads on the two men in the History forum several months back, and it certainly took a longer time for Wladimir Klitschko to get out of his brother's shadow and be his own man--- but I think in the end he proved himself to be the better simply on the basis of accomplishments.

It's a 50/50 or 60/40 fight. It really can go either way. My gut instinct tells me Vitali, although logically you can make a very serious case for Wladimir winning. It's one of those things where they would have had to of engaged in a series of bouts to have really determined the better of the two.

If they could be hypnotized to hate each other, than Wlad is the better boxer, bigger puncher and has better defense, but Vitali's got a big advantage in durability, making better use of his jab and focusing his aggression. Wlad would outbox Vitali consistently over the first half of the fight, but eventually he'd get worn down and stopped late.

The initial part of this comment makes me think of Chuck Norris,in the 1980 flick, The Octagon. :geek:

I think that Wladimir would win by a fairly clear cut decision. 6-4-2 in rounds.

It'd be Mostly a dull tactifull bout. They'd both have they're short moments of aggression. No real true ferocity from either Klitscko brother though.
